7 points and superior goal difference away from dropping out of the play off race. We can be awful for 3 games now and still be there. That's the negativity over with.

Point off auto's with slightly inferior goal difference, game on!

How much of an asset is Billy Kee? 4th highest scorer in div 2 with 16 but also the highest number by far of assists, with 12.

Too right there Mike!:alright:

Billy is a massive asset with his goals and assists. He also works tremendously hard, often without enough protection from referees, and also takes pressure of our other forwards thus giving them opportunities to attack opposing defences!

ON STANLEY ON WITH BILLY LEADING THE CHARGE!

Re: Daggers Match Thread

Very poor game today, got dragged down to their level after a decent first 10 mins or so. We did hit the post from the unlikely source of a Sean Mac header, but they missed an open goal after we had lost possession trying to play out from the back. Second-half was even worse, hardly any semblance of decent play, but we stuck at it and finally landed a punch with about 10 mins left. Central to it all was Billy Kee, who stood out a mile. We had wasted a chance before the goal when Billy had forced an error from his marker that left the ball perfectly on the right peg of Hughes about 12 yards out but he blasted it over the bar. As befitted such a terrible game, the goal was hardly a thing of beauty, a breakaway with Shay and Billy, a bit of inconclusive passing and a blocked shot before Billy finally put the ball away across the keeper and in the far corner. It was the least Billy deserved after another standout performance amidst a lot of hard graft from the rest of the boys, especially those at the back - Tom got a bloody nose and Matty took a whack after steaming into a 50-50 tackle, but we held firm for the win.

Can't wait to see the lads play - Got a double-header coming up.

Travelling up Thursday to pick me dad up, catch the Orient Game, take him down Devon for a week, then bring him back up Friday after and catch Cambridge Game.

Re: Daggers Match Thread

Don't forget Billy never really featured in the first half a dozen games !,but has more than made up for that.
He's not only our main goal Scoring threat but is key the system we play, holds the ball up,assists, closing down etc..
Coley has to take a little credit for re-energising a player who's always had talent and is on top of his game at the moment

Re: Daggers Match Thread

Spot on summary from Phil Whalley.
Great three points but, crikey, Stanley made hard work of it. Saw the video highlights of the midweek games and Oxford could have won 8-0 against Dagenham, but Stanley struggled, and we're lucky, to get the solitary goal to dispatch a pretty poor side.
At half-time I was fearing another outcome like away at Yeovil.
Having said that, the defence were again solid. Some great goalkeeping from Mr.Etheridge to nullify their corners. Matty Pearson was man-mountain, yet again. Captain Conneely was everywhere, mopping up and starting attacks. Good performance from both Messrs Davies and Halliday, and Pierro. Bit disappointed in today's efforts from the Macs ( Cartan and Conville ) and Brown, but MotM once more was the one and only Billy Kee.
From the last few weeks we know how Stanley can perform without either Windass or Crooks, but I really can't imagine how Billy Kee could be replaced.

From the reports today it appears that maybe Stanley weren't the only lucky team in League 2. Orient won against ten-man Morecambe with an 80th minute own goal. Someone's luck will run out on Good Friday.

was worried about todays game after playing on Wednesday night. we looked jaded and I thought all the catch up games had caught up with us. all on a level playing field now and no mid week game giving our backroom staff time to patch the lads up. don.t have to play well as long as you grind a win out. roll on Friday afternoon and 3 points against Clapton orient or whatever they call themselves now.
