How many points will get us in play-offs?
What yeh reckon? last season 71 pts did it i think, think it will be more this time? I think at least 76 should do it? Which means another 4 wins in last 9 games, if so thats well do-able? i aint ruled automatics out, but wherever we finish it will have been n amazing season.:)

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
I agree cashy, Win half games so 4 or 5 will for me guarentee play offs. either 76 or 79 points.
For automatics we need to win 6-8 games which with this group of players is not beyond the realms of possibility. Looking on last few seasons Between 82-85 will do for automatics ON STANLEY ON |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Why do you want promotion? If you are realistic you know that we havent got the big enough fan base to be successful in that league. Better still to stay where we are and continue to have the most amazing seasons we have all enjoyed.
|
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
FAN BASE will remain, quality of squad has no correlation.
WE'RE GOING UP! |

Would Accrington Stanley get a decent payment for going up a league as they do in the Championship.

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
I think. 3rd place is now between us Bristol and Plymouth 81 points would mean Pompey having to win 7 out of 9 games left with 5 winnable home games for us it,s in our own hands now playoffs I think 76 points will be enough but let,s get in that top 3 let,s get behind the team now and cheer them over the line.

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
:) Wycombe away it's written in the stars... remember Woking!!! :)

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Last three seasons have required 71-71-69 points to make seventh spot, and 85-81-78 for third place. Very competitive season with several teams still fighting for promotion might suggest it may be fewer points than last year?
As for the stars, I hope you're right, Mab, but is it the Voodoo Gods of Football who picked the opponents for Stanley's final game....? |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
73/74 is projected for 7th and 81 for 3rd.

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Hopefully by the time we play Hartlepool, York, Wycombe and Stevenage they all have nothing to play for or relegated already and they've got their flip flops on thinking of summer destinations!
|
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Carlisle is a bitch for us no question but other sides seem able to cope with their roughousing better than us. Hope you're right though.
|
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Bristol rovers seem to be the form team at the moment with Plymouths form going the other way. obviously Portsmouth are not as good as they were against us but usually for Stanley we will need more points than normal to go straight up or even getting into the play-offs. 84 for straight up and 76 for play offs for me.

After 37 games
____2012/13__2013/14 _2014/15_2015/16 3rd____62_____65_______68______65 7th____59_____54_______57______59 After 46 games _____2012/13_2013/14_2014/15 3rd____78______81_____85 7th____69______71_____71 Based on Median Points Gain 2015/16 3rd 81 7th 73 Based on Mean Points Gain 2015/16 3rd 81 (81.33) 7th 73 (72.67) Based On % of Total Gain 3rd 81 (81.33) 7th 73 (73.23) 3rd place increases were from 24.6% to 25.8% so very close, the highest increase would give 82 (81.77) points. 7th place increases had a much bigger variance from 16.9% to 31.5%, and the highest would mean 78 points (77.57). However most projections concur on the 81 and 73 for Auto and Play-offs respectively. |

11 points ahead
21 points to play for So 10 point should seal playoffs |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
After Leyton and Wycombe dropped points today, 76 should be plenty. 82 is absolute certainty, 81 unless there is a remarkable goal difference swing. Wycombe's current max possible is 82, Carlisle's 81, Leyton's 80. Beat two of those and we're in the playoffs ..... but our sights must be firmly on automatic now.

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Remaining fixtures of main rivals :

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
My guess-
1-Northampton 92 pts 2-Oxford 87 pts 3-Bristol 84 pts 4-Stanley 83 pts 5-Plymouth 80 pts 6-Portsmouth 80 pts 7-Wycombe & Leyton Orient both 72 pts So third is def. doable with a bit of luck and lots of heart. |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Reckon it would be very ironic,if we needed a result from our last match against Satanage for automatic promotion. Looking at the other fixtures, i reckon we are defo in play-offs now?

The current answer to the original question is 78 ... for absolute certainty. 76 unless Wycombe and Exeter both win their last 5 games.
|
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Exeter have Nhants n Bristol R. to play, Wycombe got Pompey,Oxford n Stanley so they are most unlikely to win em all imho. wimbledon got Pompey n Leyton O, Pompey got a nightmare run in.
|
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Stanley - Morecambe, Hartlepool, York, Wycombe, Stevenage.
Bristol Rovers - Yeovil, Stevenage, Exeter, York, Dagenham. Plymouth - Portsmouth, Leyton Orient, Dagenham, Cambridge, Hartlepool Portsmouth - Plymouth, York, Wycombe, Wimbledon, Hartlepool, Northampton. |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Oxford's last 2 at least don't look to be guaranteed max points & Bristol have two nearish derbies amid their easier looking run in. We haven't been trashing teams like those two but I'm reminded of the tortoise / hare outcome. Gonna be tight I think and apart from hoping to be at Wycombe, I'm saving my pension for either a trip 'home' (if a win agin Stevenage would see us promoted) or a visit to Wembly. Just ordered my mugshot from Tony (Kipax) of that day at Woking - d'ya sense I'm getting excited ?

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Time to close this thread Moderator! Or alternatively rename to how many points to automatic promotion!
The way I see it is we will finish with 85 points, Bristol Rovers will finish with 81 points, Plymouth and Portsmouth could be discounted as their run ins are horrendous and as Pompey have to play both Plymouth and Northampton I cannot see either team getting more than 80 points maximum. It all depends on Oxford and how they finish as to whether we are 2nd or 3rd. |
Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
I like you're thinking Ozzy :) - I'm still not brave enough to think the 'P' word never mind say it out loud but am getting up the nerve to peek over the parapet & think maybe, just maybe it could be our year :hidewall:

I'm struggling to see where Brizzle are likely to drop any points, let alone 6. Yes they will probably have a blip somewhere along the way, but then you have to expect so will everybody else .... ooh me fingernails

Re: How many points will get us in play-offs?
Trying not to be too confident but a few stats...We've scored in every home game this season and conceded 1 goal in our last 5 games!
Morecambe haven't kept a clean sheet since 2 January, 18 games ago! Whatever you do just make sure you drag everyone you know up to The Wham Stadium on Saturday afternoon! |

Did that stop Wimbledon or Wigan reaching the the top flight and winning trophies ? Believe it or not some folk (glory hunters to start maybe - but then they may eventually become die hard fans) are attracted to watching successful teams and that success helps to build a fan base. Even Liverpool and Man United had to start somewhere. |
