York City Thread.

Early start for this un, appeal to "ALL" casual supporters to come along and help Stanley create History, York unlikely as it is can still survive with big wins, we need all people possible to get behind us.

Hopefully their win last night encourages a few more York fans to travel!

2300 home fans against Morecambe and I think they'll bring 1000!

The joys of having a season ticket, Not having to queue on match days, They're the future!

Re: York City Thread.

I'm expecting a good following from York, its bleak, but 3 big wins could possibly save em, hope they get the last two. if they fail to win on sat thats it,as i see it.

Re: York City Thread.

Can't really see York bringing a 1000 considering they are all but down, yes they travel well but not sure in those numbers.

Will be a cracking day that's for sure.

Same XI as last night ?!

would expect so, as coley says it was the best 45mins hes seen from stanley, so unless illness or injury, dont expect any changes.

The next three games are so bloody emotional, I hope the team is going to be up for it, hope Coley will be able to settle them down to play the way they can, emotions can do funny things. COME ON YOU RED HERO,S. 100% is all we can ask. Oh, and a half decent ref.

Wot ?! - is Cashy allowed to go awol v. Stevenage ?

Just read Cooks summary of Pompey's defeat at York. Sounds like York dominated in same way Coley said Pompey did us recently. Would nicely complete the triangle if in turn Stanley dominate York (with goals to match please).

just got back home ossy and found out we,ve got carl boyeson reffing the game tomorrow. seen him before and a couple of weeks ago at Morecambe. if he,s like he was then he was top notch and we can,t complain but we are Stanley and anything can happen.

Just brilliant from Stanley, again.
Results mean Wycombe playing only for pride and next season's contracts.
Only issue in League 2 now is which two out of Stanley, Oxford, or Brizzle Rovers go up automatically.
Amazing season.

Brilliant Stanley, almost there. All the teams in contention are away next Saturday then all at home for the last league game. Big, big game next week, lets hope Carlisle do us a favour and York finish in style. Wycombe are only playing to see the season out and Stanley are on the boil so here,s hoping. It,s going to be a long week waiting for next win, haven't been this excited since 15th April 2006. Where ever I go next week I shall be wearing my Stanley shirt and I would hope everyone else will do the same, keep the spirit going.

Would need Oxford to lose at Carlisle or Brizzle to lose or draw at York - long trips for both of them so lets hope the motorways are busy :D

What an exhibition of wing play from Piero and Fosu
Their 2 full backs can never have had such a roasting. The right back was so frazzled he had to lie down twice pretending to be injured. He won't sleep tonight. Feel sorry for Piero who puts in all these great crosses but never gets them in return when he gets in great positions himself
. Ignored usually by Josh and in fact I was calling for him to be subbed before he came alive with his goals!

Re: York City Thread.

A great result for the STANLEY today......:alright:
THREE more points closer to achieving THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM of 'Little Old Accrington Stanley' achieving promotion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:w00t::w00t::w00t:
York did not play badly today and I have seen worse teams than them at 'The WHAM Stadium' this season.
:)
Although the first half was somewhat 'Edgy' we finished the half well by scoring the all important first goal!
York continued to cause us quite a few problems but like most teams battling against relegation the ball just did not run for them.:)
The 'ENERGY' which our boys showed was one of the main factors in the victory today. Not only when going forward with the ball but also when retreating. :alright:
Pierro as usual was harrassing back continuously as was Brad Halliday who played like a 'TIGER'! Bucko too was onto his opponents at every opportunity. Matty Pearson was up and down the pitch like a newly refurbished 'Gresley A4 Streamlined Pacific'!:worthy:
Seamus was the ever reliable calming influence in midfield and in the second half he got into some excellent forward attacking positions. Billy worked tirelessly against tough opponents but he was immense once again. Billy showed his appreciation for the Clayton End support with his 'fist pumps' late in the second half.:bow8:
Our two centre backs Hughes and Davies were always in control and Davies even had a couple of superb overlapping right wing runs too as did Pearson. Hughes was as cool at the back as Seamus was in midfield. Ross in goal had a sound game and made a couple of good saves when tested. He will be chuffed to have got another clean sheet. 3-0 does our goal difference a bit of good too!:alright:
Two goal hero Windass took a while to get going but he was motoring in the second half and looked very dangerous whenever he got the ball down and ran at York's defence. He was slightly greedy on a couple of occasions but that is a trait of a player who expects to 'Score' every time he approaches the opponents penalty box!:dancedog:

The big difference today was young Fosu who played like a 'WIZARD'!!!! His stepovers even had me confused at times so I can't imagine what it was like to be York's right back today. Fosu was BRILLIANT, and The Clayton End enjoyed singing their new chant for him!:mosher::mosher::mosher:

When Shay came on he nearly broke through down the middle with one of his trade mark 'Mazy' runs.:worthy::worthy::worthy:

I must pay credit to the York City players today as they continued to play in the right spirit. They tried to play with a creative game and they actually produced their best football when they were two goals down and for a spell they dictated play. I think it is a real shame for them to go down. I would rather :s_evil:Stevenage:angry: had gone down with The Daggers!!!:idunno: Yes....... I do have a Northern bias!
I came off the ground today with a wonderful 'Banging Head Ache' and a 'Hoarse Throat' but I will certainly be having some celebration Ale tonight!:thepint:

Well for us just two more matches to achieve the DREAM!!:alright::s_gupjump:s_gupjump

ON STANLEY ON with Jimmy and John.:theband::thankya:
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS TO GLORY.

Mooney did, think he conceded more than he saved. (Still fully support him though)

Wright always looked v.dodgy at the back, great going forward though but Davies is a lot more solid prospect.

Number of increased clean sheets prove this.

Fosu I believe is better, but that's not McConville's fault is it?

I always prefered Ethridge to mooney after seeing the pre-season games, and said so to many folk, Fosu is certainly better in my view, the fact he had played games at a higher level prove that, the fact Mconville was playing poorly in quite a few games, make a mockery of that fact. thats my opinion yer entitled to yours.Wright didn't do badly in the view of quite a few people. Its you thats continued this witchunt by your sly dig comment, but thats too hard to grasp i suppose?

Fosu nutmegging that bloke was class, could do with a bit more strength so he doesn't go to ground so easy but hey he scored and had a great game so who cares.
Piero put loads of good balls in the box just no one there to finish them we could have had 10 !!

Bloke I really like and never seems to put a foot wrong is Hughes great Defender the games I've seen him play he's always played well.

Will be there again for the next home game can't wait.

Good points above.....

As I said in my offering.... Today Fosu was like a WIZARD and Hughes was 'Mr Cool' at the back and Pierro was 'Everywhere' doing what we have come to expect of him. I have to say I don't like the other posts that seem to level some criticism at Sean McConville. Sean has played his part in a wonderful season (so far). You can only do your best when selected and Sean doesn't 'Pick the team'. I agree that he could have nailed a few more 'goals' but he has been an integral part of the team/squad this season and should be praised along with the rest of the players. He has, after all been in 'No Man's Land' for the last couple of seasons in lower leagues and John and Jimmy saw fit to bring him back to Accrington Stanley where he has surely played his best football. He certainly got fitter earlier in the season and he has played his part when we had some injury issues mid season. He is part of this wonderful squad and it is perhaps unfair to compare him with a player, such as young Fosu, who clearly has a future at the highest levels of English football!!! Sean has done his bit for Stanley and should be given credit. If we win promotion, he will be getting the same medal as the rest of the squad. So come on guys, stop hitting on him and get behind the Stanley squad ....All of 'em!
ON STANLEY ON
ps. I filled in the form for 'Players of the Season' today and I wanted to tick ALL of the boxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pps Coley and Jimmy should get a 'Medal' each at the end of the season too.......promotion permitting?!:alright:

Going to party tonight!!!,can't be doing watching on live text,it really is stressful.
Believe young Fosu was unplayable today, just two repeat performances and it will prove a master stroke.
Think a couple more clean sheets will do it (sorry Redraine!!),Crooksey being injured has made us a little more solid with the holding two not as flamboyant and screening the back four ( clean sheets backs this up).
Going forward we always look like scoring.
I honestly don't think the lads are aware of what they on the verge of,nobody tell them and let them play with the freedom they seem to have KTF

Stanley are on soon on the football league show on channel 5, it just showed Josh's goal, doesn't a pack Clayton end look good. Brilliant today from Stanley, believe every player played well! Fosu seems like a breath of fresh air! Another stat just come on saying no one has scored more at home than Accrington! Just two more games and the lads would of achieved something that was unbelievable in August! What a journey. And 10 years on from promotion from conference! Brilliant

P.s can we stop the petty arguments over certain players, not ever play is going be every fans favourite. Every player that has worn a Stanley shirt this season or any has put in a performance and effort that has led us to being second in the football league. Now let's just enjoy this journey to league 1

I agree with nearly all your comments apart from the P.s. It's not about fan's favourites. It's about picking the best players available. Fosu wasn't available earlier in the season .....but the good news he is now, and what a contribution he has made in such a short time. That's the point. Play your best players to get the best results. So keep playing him unless he is injured, or doesn't give 100%.

Re: York City Thread.

Another good crowd yesterday, just a shame York travelled in so few numbers, which wasn't surprising given their situation. Always like York as a city and away day, fingers crossed they battle back next season, Cheltenham have shown it can be done.

As for the game itself, thought we looked a little nervous and the atmosphere seemed a little flat for periods which added to that. Granted York looked VERY poor, (quite how they smashed Pompey last week is anyone's guess), but the potential of this squad really is huge. To play well for half an hour maximum, still win 3-0 with another 2 subs available to bring is a testament to that, fair play to Coley for building such a top group of lads.

As others have said, Fosu has been a breath of fresh air on the wing. Granted ive only been half a dozen games or so this season, but I dread to think where we could have been if he had been here for longer, another superb showing from Tarique.

Thought nobody let the team down yesterday, though Kee again to me looked knackered after an hour, and if I could have changed anything, it would have been to give him a rest and throw Gornell on for the last 30 minutes.

To top a great day off our old mate Westley was sacked from Peterborough too :D HA!

Lucky enough im working in London from Monday evening so it maybe a quick train trip to Wycombe next Saturday.
