Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

Even first half, contrasting styles with bridge being a little more direct.
Good work out tho

Oh dearie me - Coley cancelled their day off for drawing with Skem, they're not gonna have another day off all season for this! - still the other half of the first team did ok this morning with Sean Mac netting twice in the 4 - 1 win at Radcliffe so not all bad news

All about getting fit,it was obviously a big game for bridge and they upped their game, were it was about fitness for Acci

That doesn't exactly reassure me - as it suggests that after two weeks training including a trip abroad we're still not as fit as a team of part-timers?

Or were we just doing grid sprints and ignoring the ball completely?

Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

The lower league teams always play a more direct game, indeed their number9 was an handful in the air,but took all the throw ins as he launched them in the danger zone and the centre backs went up every time.
It's difficult to defend against, but with a bit more fitness we would have ripped them to pieces

Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

The right winger who scored looked like the best player on the pitch, may have had more if it wasn't for the iffy offside. The key moment was when the clear penalty was called offside at 2-1 and the keeper played all round a 40 yard cross shot free kick for 3-1 just after.

Stalybridge look like a good well run club with a ground far superior to Stanley's, about 150 on today, good food and beer at reasonable prices.

Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

I remember going to Stalybridge years ago, it was some piddling cup match & Chris (psycho) Butler missed the decisive penalty kick - was an impressive ground then, would've like to revisited today but didn't work out - hope to be at Halifax next week, again for the first time in quite a few years

Despite what it says on Twitter, according to Dany on t'fishy site, it was 5-1 at Radcliffe and Sean scored a hat-trick!

Any news on the new lad Lacey,s injury as he appeared to hobble off the pitch.

Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

Lacey caught on muscle rather than bone but v sore and out for several weeks.

Halifax beat Morecambe 6-2 yesterday ... and also a strong Sheffield Utd side 2-0.

So if our lads can get their act together & beat Halifax, we get the bragging rights over the Shrimps before we even play 'em :)

Re: V Radcliffe boro/Stalybridge

Be a good test against Halifax,
They have two forwards, one 6-9 and the other 6-3 !!
Morecambe were winning 1-0 at halftime!!,
Very hard to compete with them in the air,so defending second balls is key.
Be a stern test, especially from corners and free kicks

We had a trialist keeper from Burnley who had a mare.

Barry Roche would have saved most of their goals.

you,ll be surprised when you see it. completely rebuilt on three sides and quite modern looking with good facilities. only thing left is the old main stand which i don,t think is used anymore. far too big for them and was developed when the rugby league side were on a roll. think the council poared load of money into it. miss the slag heap as you alweays finished the game a yeard further down the bank than when you started. good old days however when football was football and the only refreshments worth an arguement was the the weakness of the bovril.

So you weren't there on New Years Day 2006, the season we won the conference to witness Rory Prendergast celebrating a Halifax goal in the 2-2 draw right in front of the Stanley fans. My blood still boils!
