Add to that the fact we've lost our striker early doors with no recognized replacement on the bench and we'd have been lucky to get away with a point.

Will be interesting if we could get a "3rd striker" on loan before long. Sticking the likes of McCarten and Boco up as a number 9 doesn't suit our system one bit.

For optimism's sake, I'll go for Sam's interpretation over Dav's, although Dav is right to point out our poor passing and self-inflicted woes, such as the poor pass that led quickly to their second goal. But we do need another option up front, Coley even sent Matty Pearson up as a makeshift target man towards the end. We did have a lot of possession, but did little with it. Barnet did a professional job on us, relentless time-wasting and 9 men behind the ball once they got ahead, we just couldn't find a way through.

Baffled by Clark not starting - then waiting till 15 minutes left to introduce him.

When Matty Pearson was target man for the last 10 minutes, we actually posed a threat. But there were many disappointments. O'Sullivan failed to live up to his reputation. The Barnet left back had the measure of him from the start. There was no improvement when he changed wings in the second half. Someone resembling McConville took 2 corners, neither of which passed the first defender. This apparition then disappeared until late in the second half when he leapt in the air to handle a ball that was going out of play. I remember seeing that done once in an under-10s game.

The decision to put Rommy on as centre forward was very strange indeed, as Coley must have realised when he subbed him in the 2nd half. I was also surprised to see Hewitt taken off - I can only assume he was shattered. He had been Stanley's most creative player until subbed. Beckles was far too casual.

The positives? Eagles played quite well, Mark Hughes did the work of two, and Matty Pearson played well at full back and centre forward.

And if the football wasn't disappointing enough, the foul-mouthed shouting and singing was an embarrassment. Only one or two individuals were responsible - and it was astonishing that it was allowed by stewards and the large police contingent.

I thought Connelly was dire, not quite as useless as o'sullivan but for a central midfielder he had no influence on the game and his passing was shocking throughout.

Other than eagles who tried but was to easily knocked off the ball, we had very little creativity although Hewitt had a few glimpses.
McConville and O'Sullivan shouldn't be anywhere near the first 11 next week, totally ineffective and they actually worked against us as a team, when we are playing possession football we can't afford to have any passengers or areas of the pitch where we constantly lose the ball and have no success.

i for one wasn,t surprised by the barnet result. after tuesday,s epic and the cup draw i thought some of the players might be a bit under par. expect coley to get it right at wycombe after a few home truths have been said.

Might have missed this somewhere but any reason Brown was dropped? Thought he was our best player last Saturday.

Bit brutal that Davo !!,think Jonno run out of steam after 60 mins on Tuesday, but had to stay on.
This may have caught up with him as I am unsure what pre-season he's had.
No excuses for Sean tho as he was rested.
Beckles will soon find out you don't get much "thinking"time in league two.
Definitely miss Billy Kee tho,as he was central to everything good about last seasons performances.

Apparently both Scott & Sean picked up knocks in the Doncaster game which is why they weren't in the team against Bradford, can only assume Scott hadn't recovered from his in time for yesterdays game

Oh, I read your post Cashy & I've never disagreed that Sean (amongst others) can be inconsistent - I wasn't there yesterday to judge what went on but it sounded like as a team we didn't really turn up, it just seems it doesn't take much for one player or another to be singled out for criticism, fair or otherwise :)
