Hughes Suspension

I'm guessing that Mark Hughes will receive a one match suspension for his red card on Saturday, that being the standard punishment for Denying a Goal Scoring Opportunity. Last season the Football League Trophy would have counted meaning he would be available to play next Saturday. I understand that with the inclusion of the Premier League / Championship reserve/ youth teams it no longer counts as a first team competition meaning that Hughes will be suspended next Saturday. Was this made clear with all the hype over this competition that nobody wants?

Re: Hughes Suspension

If it doesn't count as a first team competition that should be the same rule across the board meaning we should be able to play our youth team but apparently if we or any lower league team does that we'd be fined £5000!
Just another example of the football league's one rule for one & another for everyone else policy - I don't like not turning up to support the lads but I'm afraid I won't be attending any of the games in this competition

hope everyone else feels the same. i too have no intention of going and i,ve always attended these games as its stanleys only realistic chance of playing in a wembley final. if anyone feels they are depriving the club of revenue send them the match day fee, buy something in the club shop or buy extra 50/50 draw tickets to the value of the admission cost. lets stand up against the efl, edl or whatever its called, its our chance to show em what we think of their new farce.

Ive never been the biggest fan of this competition either.

However with me having the week off and being in the area I will be there Tuesday night, I will be refusing however to attend the likes of Wolves Under 23's away.

Re: Hughes Suspension

Always went to the games when I was JPT, might've been a bit of a mickey mouse trophy but was at least a decent chance for lower league teams to have their moment of glory at Wembley - what they've done to it now is just plain wrong.
I did feel a bit guilty about missing a home game though so bought something from club shop on Saturday that more than made up for my missing gate money, will still feel weird to sit at home when we're playing just up the road though

To be sure if it was Free i wouldn't be going, used to go when it was the old format, even been to a couple of away games in it, nowt to do wi Stanley, but they are really taking the Pish wi this new format, well they aint taking it out of this kid.

Fully agreed. Cant stand idly by while the FA destroy the game. I will be buying a tenners worth of 50/50 draw tickets at my next game to make up for it - and I dont buy them usually because the announcement is not plain enough for the winning ticket (stick a chalk board up near the exits if nothing else)

Yeah I've seen the posts Cashy, but they really should be immediate win type things.

Personally I think we should be doing scratchies that could be sold all o'er t'show

Re: Hughes Suspension

The 50/50 is an immediate win type thing Rob. If you miss the announcement the number is posted around the ground and most certainly on the door of Reception.

My posting just saves Cashy a walk. :)

Think everyones aware its sod all to do with Stanley mate, the only chance of reverting back to commonsense is too take action in my view, otherwise we will be stuck forever wi this crap.

Haven't noticed Sherry! Where is it posted as one exits the Clayton End?

I shall look it for it when I spend my JPT money on tickets :-)

Agree Cashy, they the powers that be couldn't give a toss about the lower league clubs as long as it keeps the prem and championship clubs happy :(.

you,ll never wright a more sensible post as long as you live. there are times in life you have to stand up and be counted or not be counted tonight at the crown. feel stronger about this issue than any other for years. we are just pawns in the big premier bandwagon.

I've read that, rather than fork out £100,000 for the Olympic Stadium, West Ham have been given permission to play their 'home' Checkatrade game against Northampton at Sixfields. So, when we're drawn at home to Manchester United in the proper Cup and need to make a bit of brass...

Re: Hughes Suspension

So does that mean wolves will change to the wham in stead of Molineux Stadium !! no I didn't think so either:(one rule for one yet again.

They may be the only ones there if all Wanderers' supporters think the same as this one:
Why We Should All Boycott the EFL Trophy - Lion Of Vienna Suite
