Sad News......Redraine

I have sad news about 'Redraine'.........My old friend of forty years...Michael Raine.
Sadly Mike died in the early hours of last night with members of his family by his side.
Mike had fought stoically for the last ten years with serious illness.
He continued to stand, (but sometimes sit), on the Clayton End up to the end of last season.
Mike was 72 years old.

For several years, here on the Accy Web, 'Redraine' was well known as a true Stanley fan.
I am sure that he will be sadly missed.
I know that I will miss him.
God Bless you Mike.
Sleep well my old mate.

Choirboy !,

I am more than certain that everyone using our Forum will be sharing your feelings of loss when hearing the news of Mike's passing.
I was fortunate enough to talk 'all things Stanley' with him personally, as well as sharing many interesting and usually witty bits of banter on the Forum. One thing shone through during our chats, and in his posts, and this was his love and total dedication to the Team which we all support with pride.
No banter tonight, only a hope that the thoughts and prayers of many friends will give some comfort to Mike's family during what will be a trying and heartbreaking period.

The name 'Redraine' will I know, always be remembered here, and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Saddened, though not surprised, to hear of Mike's passing after his long battle with illness. I have known him since the days at Accrington Grammar School in the fifties and he has always been a proud supporter of all things Stanley. (Well, apart, perhaps, for one particular player - sorry Mike!) My thoughts and good wishes go out to his family at this sad time. He will be a sad loss to the Stanley community.

Saddened to hear of Mike's passing. From an early age living down the bottom end, as soon as I saw him walking past the house, I knew it was time to set off to the game. Lovely bloke, Stanley through and through. Don't think I ever saw him without his beloved Stanley scarf on.

Thoughts with his nearest and dearest.

Goodnight redraine. Keep watching the reds from up high.

Re: Sad News......Redraine

It was Mike's funeral this morning and many thanks to Cashman who attended as promised with his red and white scarf, as I was with mine. We met and had a good chat about Mike and the Stanley.....Thanks again to all of you for your kind and sincere comments on here too.
It was a wonderful send off for Mike with a big turn out from old friends including neighbours, work colleagues and buddies from his climbing days and runner friends of Clayton le Moors Harriers.
Mike's son John and daughter Helen stayed very strong throughout the sensitive and very meaningful service and presented lovely readings and a wonderful eulogy. They and Mike's wife Susan included a beautiful RED flower arrangement and later we were all invited to take home a flower in memory of Mike. John made a number of references to the part that STANLEY played in Mike's life.
It was a super send off and a passionate celebration of a wonderful life lived by a good man, super husband, father and Grandpa.
We will all miss him.....

I haven't been on here for a while so really sad to hear this news and to have missed his funeral too. Always had time for him as we stood near each other when he was well enough. I just thought I'd not seen him as he wanted to sit and with the seats gone he'd moved elsewhere RIP Mike x
