Yeovil town thread
Another club telling fans they can pay on the gate, is it just home fans that have to buy a ticket in advance or is it the away clubs sending out wrong info

Re: Yeovil town thread
Pay on the day/pay on the gate ... little or no difference other than about 30 yards

Re: Yeovil town thread
A really BIG MATCH for The STANLEY v Yeovil tomorrow after a run of four defeats in the league for us!
Coley has said that the team will be really positive on Saturday and I feel that we as fans must be TOTALLY POSITIVE too.:jimbo: With the state of the division so close from the bottom up to the play off positions, there is everything to play for and THREE points will indeed be very welcome to morrow if we can get the win!:drunk: The boys just need to convert the chances that they have been making and a little bit of luck going our way for a change could be the catalyst for a good win. Three points would also boost the confidence of the players and the fans too.:mosher: So ........COME ON ALL YOU STANLEY FANS. BRING A FRIEND OR TWO TOMORROW. GET 100% BEHIND THE TEAM. CHEER AND SHOUT AND SING.:theband::s_gupjump ON STANLEY ON.:wave8::signbeer: KEEP THE FAITH.[/:drink::skiss: |

Chapman, Matty, Zak, Omar, Hughes, Seamus, Brown, Clark, Jono, Super Bill, Boco. Can hardly wait. |

Frost and minus 3C forecast till at least 10am. Have they got the covers on the pitch?

Hope so - if only to keep our friend from the south from getting upset ;)

Re: Yeovil town thread
Hard to pick a team from form of late but I'm not convinced of Coleys changing keepers regularly...I'm still not sure who our best keeper is but is that affecting things?
My team...Parish, Vyner, Beckles, Hughes, Pearson, O'Sullivan, Conneely, Lacey, Rommy, Shay and Billy! Hard decision between Lacey and Brown but think Lacey adds a little bit more bite in the middle of the park. I also wouldn't mind seeing GTF get a decent run out from the bench today too...Haven't scored in over 6 hours of football so something different needed and from what I've seen he's hold up play and laying the ball off has been spot on! |
Re: Yeovil town thread
Well is the game on then. Normally I would presume it was if we heard nothing but this is Accy we are talking about
|
Re: Yeovil town thread
not bothered as i,ve decided to give it a miss today. can,t see it being a goal fest and i,d hate to be turned over by them even more than stevenage. not the game of the season i look forward too.

0-0 at half time, very worrying news Zak vyner strechered off with breathing problems. Hope it looks worse than it is.

Re: Yeovil town thread
FFS !!! Don't know whats worse...waiting for the next earthquake, or Stanley to have the points 'In the bag' before 90 minutes..
|
Re: Yeovil town thread
Embarrassing that's all I have to say, boco is the only player that deserved to wear the shirt today
|
Re: Yeovil town thread
Very poor performance, only time we looked really dangerous was when Boco came on, fact he got MOM says everything imho.WHY we dont start with GTF @ Boco defies logic to me. ok if there knackered after 1 hour take em off,but no they come on when we are behind chasing the sodding game.

Re: Yeovil town thread
Deserved a point today against an in form good side we played well at the back at least Hughes and McConville try to play it on the floor instead of aimless clearances up field conceded a soft free kick but I think we had the better chances, could do with a bit of a mix it up type of midfielder because time and again they won the midfield putting us under pressure hopefully a turning point because we are uncomfortably close to the bottom.

Re: Yeovil town thread
Stanley were a poor second best to Yeovil today and a trifle fortunate to rescue a point from the game !.
When a team has a Captain who's first thought when receiving the ball is to pass it backwards to a defender or, now and again be a little more adventurous and risk a sideways ball to his full back, they are unlikely to receive positive impetus from this negative play, and thus are doomed towards failure . Although I usually keep my thoughts close to my chest where the chosen one, who made a real mess of it all this afternoon when attempting to convince everyone that he could play full back !....I cannot help but point towards the 17 times when he cleared the ball without a glance as to where it might eventually finish up !. This failure to perform the basic skills of Soccer almost persuades me to join the ranks of those who pour vitriol on his shortcomings . ( Sorry AccyMad for even considering this !). As for Zac Vyner's replacement....well ??... Sorry to be a grumpy old man, but I expect more of my team than was on display this afternoon...... it can't all be down to bad luck and even worse referees can it ?. |
Re: Yeovil town thread
Mark Hughes should have been M.O.M today. It was only after we equalised that we suddenly looked like a team that actually wanted to compete. It does show we have enough talent in the squad to play as well as we should. There seems to be a com[lete lack of motivation in this team at the moment. I don't know why. I do know this. If we keep putting out performances like this we may as well just not bother coming. It was embarrassing at times. This is nowhere near acceptable. Yeovil were not better than us but got a lucky decision for their goal. next home game 17th December. I hope to be there if things pick up.

Re: Yeovil town thread
If we played like we did today against woking on Sunday I can us getting beat, nobody wanted to put a tackle in, passes were to anywhere but a team mate, it was just far too easy for Yeovil, mark Hughes is no spring chicken anymore he can't keep up with a pacey attacker unless he grabs Thier shirt, our attackers are too low on confidence they don't want to shoot, Sean mc played better in defence then he does on the wing maybe coleys found a position where he can actually play, we lack tall players, a squad of 11 shorties can not attack or defend corners or free kicks against taller opposition, things need to change and fast
|
Re: Yeovil town thread
[QUOTE=st06nc2;1182111] Sean mc played better in defence then he does on the wing QUOTE]
 Is that saying much, or are you saying he no longer shrinks from making a tackle? If the latter I can't wait to see the new defensive set-up next Saturday. |
Re: Yeovil town thread
My main thoughts on game, are creative midfielders of mccartain, clark and O'Sullivan didn't create enough clear chances(compared to last year's mingoia, windass and crooks). We had plenty of the ball but didn't create enough to win a game. Still hopefully the late goal will help provide confidence to push us forward to achieve the first target of the season of 50 points.

Re: Yeovil town thread
I only saw one thing wrong. Not enough movement. Boco and being 1-0 down and desperate changed that a bit. We started to string a few more passes together rather than the too familiar hoof down the middle. Yeovil moved and, therefore, passed more effectively at times.
Having said that I didn't think we played all that badly. The defence did well - especially considering only Matty P was a first choice. Kee was too quiet - as a result of players not moving and bringing him into the game. Boco moves more. When he gets the ball he's often in more space. He was offside a few times. My memory is hazy but last year when Mingoia got the ball he was often in plenty of space. O'Sullivan is crowded out. I suspect Jono would be just as effective. |
Re: Yeovil town thread
We just look shot of confidence!
A team that looks like they've never played with each other before, struggle stringing a couple of passes together and making basic errors...Not the same team that beat Burnley, Bradford and almost took West Ham the whole way! We just need to get back to basics and get the simple things right and just become hard to beat and the results will come again! |
Re: Yeovil town thread
Baldy - I suspect that last season we built up confidence with Crooks and Windass so that even when they were injured we still maintained the shape and movement.
Also worth considering the impact that Brad and Buxton (and Matty P when playing wide) had. They both got forward well - didn't Brad surge through midfield regularly?. Vyner is not as good going forward. The Don is a much better player than Buxton but could he do more in attack? |
Re: Yeovil town thread
A very poor display indeed. As Yonmon says, we were second best to a well-organised Yeovil team. Constant hoof ball to two strikers much smaller than the opposing defenders was unlikely to bring success, and when we did try to pass along the ground, we found an opponent with almost unerring accuracy. Was Beckles injured? Surely he should have been used a substitute for Vyner. If he was injured, why have him on the bench?
Sorry, Chrisr but the disallowed goal was certainly offside. The referee was hopeless but he cannot be held responsible for Stanley's poor performance. But a special word about the stretcher bearers. They were an embarrassing disgrace to the club. They displayed no urgency whatsoever - one of them even walked on with a hand in his pocket. |

Re: Yeovil town thread
ChrisR we'll fall out again!!
The Club Doctor attended to Zac from around 2 minutes into the "incident" until around 10pm last night; after she collected him from BRH when he was discharged. She then spoke to our staff, his parent club's manager plus his parent Club's Doctor with updates. No idea what time she "clocked off". She's was a little "slow" to attend the scene with the paramedics as their route to the pitch was slighly blocked by the frost covers. (yes one area to improve on) The stretcher team were only summoned on by the referee (his call) as the medical team were busy treating a poorly young man. Should I now ask Fabrice Mumaba to have her medical award returned?? |
Re: Yeovil town thread
And what difference would a quicker stretcher have made? Surely getting the inhaler to him, getting him treated on the pitch by a doctor and then getting him to hospital via ambulance (if needed) were the important things. A stretcher would only have had the effect of getting the match started a bit quicker.

Re: Yeovil town thread
A very strange thing happened yesterday.
The opposition scoring from a 25 yard free kick was no surprise. Reckon that's about the 5th this season. No, the moment that had me staring in disbelief was when we had a free chick from a similar position and it wasn't blasted miles over the bar. I think Shay took it. He curled it fairly tamely round the wall for an easy save for their keeper but it's a huge step forward. It was on target. To make up for this, though, a bit later came the worst foul throw I think I've ever seen (from Zak I believe). |
Re: Yeovil town thread
Can't just be me that noticed the Yeovil keeper tell the young children behind the goal to f**k off at the end of the game?
|
Re: Yeovil town thread

No one has highlighted how once again are team looks to be the least fit in all of league 2.
They say it's a game of small percentages, well we are giving away an advantage to every club in league 2 by not having our players as fit as our rivals. |
