Re: Info for Visit to Boro
Pub info for train travellers.
Away pub now open outside the station. Directions - off train and down the stairs , turn right through he gae and right agai, Down to Albert bridge and right again, 50 yard up road is Spensleys which for this season is the pub that Police have been encouraging visitors to use. If you go past this pub, through the lights and up road on other side you have Barcuda, up another 50 yards and you are at Town Hall, go straight on to next set of lights(Holiday inn on your right) through the lights and you have 2 streets on your right with a number of micro brewery pubs , only small but will be ok there. If you get to Town Hall and take a left you have 2 "home" pubs on your left, go straight on down road, just past job shop is Doctor Browns which has always been away friendly. There is a McDonalds and Subway just over road from it. Also chippie, pizza place plus Good Food Joint on same pavement area as pub. If you go past Good Food joint there is a workies club -Ironopolis- which you are welcoe in. No need to sign in, colours ok and kids welcome. Big concert room with football on tv`s. Had a good laugh in there when Barrow played us a few year back.Everyonr mixing and having a sing song. To get to ground from Doc Browns, cross over at lights, past Mcdonalds and take underpass on left. Over railway lines ( train normally hold us up around 20 past 2 , takes it a couple of mins to reopen line) from there past the burger vans and another subway on left, through that and ground is in front of you, under bridge and you are in car parks. Our old Ayresome Park gates are outside main entrance to the left. Away end is straight on past the south stand and round the corner to east stand. |
Re: Info for Visit to Boro
To get to ground from Station or Spensleys pub,
out of station as above, at Albert Bridge cross road and bear leftslightly and down pedestrianised way, new pub on left if you can get in. Past this pub you have Lord Byron on left, just past that bear right and walk down road coming to bridge and the ground. Takes 20 mins taking it easy, on way back with a brisk walk you can do it in 15. |
Re: Info for Visit to Boro
If on coaches , you will go to designated coach point outside in car park outside the away turnstiles. If you go to the south stand corner you will see the bridge to the ground, go down that way, under it and underpass is on left, through there and right, down to rail crossing and through second underpass, turn right and Doc Browns is 50 yards on through the lights.
Avoid the Navigation near the ground as normally only allow home fans in. Bars open in the ground with the usual high priced swill. |

I'd much rather people working at the club putting the hours to bring in sponsors and merchandise, sorting more important things than posting on other fans message boards the directions to the stadium! Maybe this was needed 30 years ago but with smartphones these days you can get information like train times, directions etc in seconds! |
Re: Info for Visit to Boro
Still good to have local info on good pubs, routes etc from other teams fans - you can't find everything on t'interweb :)

Re: Info for Visit to Boro
If you need any more help just pm me and I will try to get back on evening.
Ticket sales are only slow at Boro but normal for cup games, everyone seems to buy in last couple of days. ST holders buy on line so ST card is activated, no need for paper tickets or queing at cold stadiums. |
Re: Info for Visit to Boro
We are off to "Sherlocks" on Baker Street with a Boro fan - apparently it is the absolute height of North East fashion to be seen there.
Please confirm this Mr Thornabyred? |

Re: Info for Visit to Boro
Thornabyred......Thanks very much for the info.:)
Is it permissible to park in the terraced streets of the North Ormesbury area south of the ground and south of the A66? |
Re: Info for Visit to Boro
Be careful parking as some are permits for the homeowners. Just check the signs before leaving your car. Yellow line areas and on grass verges normally get tickets.
