Lord 'D' is quite correct when he refers to the butterfly effect, or 'Chaos Theory' as it is more commonly known.
For those who wish to study this, I quote from Wikipedia;
Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics focused on the behaviour of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions—a response popularly referred to as the butterfly effect. Small differences in initial conditions yield widely diverging outcomes for such dynamical systems, rendering long-term prediction of their behaviour impossible in general. This happens even though these systems are deterministic, meaning that their future behaviour is fully determined by their initial conditions, with no random elements involved. In other words, the deterministic nature of these systems does not make them predictable. This behaviour is known as deterministic chaos, or simply chaos.

This was emphatically proved last Saturday when Stewart Downing decided to sprinkle sugar on his breakfast Weetabix, thus ensuring he would score the only goal of the game in the 69th minute & deny Stanley's dream of a 5th round draw against Man U.
Also, Gareth Southgate ensured he did his former club a big favour drawing lowly Oxford as opponents by having a fried egg butty for his lunch.
This should be common knowledge for any real fan.

This raises the possibility that our flag waving against Stevenage last season may have inadvertently led to Shay hitting the woodwork twice. Clucking bell.
