Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

I predict a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions for Morecambe at the Globe Arena on Tuesday.

Revenge for the comedy of errors that saw us chuck away a 2-0 lead earlier in the season. A sending off that was much ado about nothing, the tempestuous relationship with Ellison that ended badly for us.

Measure for measure we are far better than them and the bookies agree. They see only one outcome in this war of the red rose: A taming of the Shrimps is 11/10.

Think we'll see Husin in for Brown, a cracking atmosphere and a clear but hard fought win as the Stanley juggernaut rolls on.

3-0. Just as I like it.

At least one ex-stanley player will score against us.

Just hope we can at least level them.

I'll met by moonlight proud Didsbury !. Tomorrow we shall summon up the sinews, for now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by these sons of Coleman, and all the clouds that loured upon The Crown in the deep bosom of the ocean buried !.
However, beware the ides of March, for is not discretion the better part of valour ?.
Three-nil you say ?. Well a victory is twice itself when the achiever brings home full numbers....And that really is Much ado about nothing !.

From the Morecambe forum I have learnt two things:
1. Their pitch is in a sorry state
2. Their fans aren't overly confident

More news as it happens.

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

Big opportunity for Mr.Husin. From the little I've seen of him he clearly has the potential to be a more creative midfield option. At Pompey, some of his through balls into forward space behind their defenders were 'too good' for his colleagues, who seemed reluctant to run onto them. McMarmite's exquisite pass for Pearson to get behind the defender against Orient was one where the two players knew what each other would do, and showed just how effective it can be to use balls into forward space. At Yeovil, Husin had to be more terrier like and I thought he did a good job.

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

Could be a blessing, Scotty will always give you workrate and is a great player on his day, but maybe Browny and Seamus are too alike?

Maybe we have been missing that forward thinking player? Seamus played well last season with an attacking minded Crooks as he drove whilst Seamus did most of the dog work!

Husin or Rommy coming in might bring that forward thinking pass that I feel we've been lacking this season...

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

Excellent away trip, Stanley great 1st half, some great play going forward. Morecambe resorted to long ball. Mccartain showed great skill and composure for the goals(the difference in him from two months ago is massive, if he could have been this good all season we could be in play offs) Away end vocal atmosphere was a excellent effort. Second half particularly after Connelly came off a combination of Morecambe pressed well/ Stanley backing off to much made it a nervous last 20 mins. Felt kee looked tired having not won a lot all night could have been subbed if gornell was felt up to job. Still can't complain with a away win and unbeaten in 9.

That's one game in hand in the bag.
Looks like we've hit form at the right time of the season.
If we can win the second, we can start to believe anything is possible.
Four yellow cards & 17 fouls against Morecambe!
Sounds like they tried to kick us off the park.

Maybe I'm alone in thinking we didn't really play that well tonight? Did very little down the wings, didn't press as much, over ambitious passing. Matty P had an unusually poor game.
Losing Connelly coincided with Husin fading from the game. We lost midfield, they took complete control.

However, it was a great trip. Two lovely goals and a wonderful atmosphere. Plus, Eric is now a Stanley fan.

To be honest, anything other than a Acci win would have been a massive injustice.
Acci set up as normal and controlled the first half and deserved the lead.
Could not understand Morecambe putting their better players on the bench, and they just got bullied.
Different game when they come on,but Accis back four looked excellent and protected the keeper.
MOM for me was Shay, unplayable at times, everyone else were solid and did there jobs

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

A Great result last night and a really splendid performance for 60 minutes!:mosher:
In the first half there was only one 'FOOTBALL TEAM' present
and it wasn't Morecambe.:smoky: We played some wonderful passing football and created enough chances to have been three up by half time. In added time after 45 minutes I was regretting our inability to clinically finish our chances and becoming anxious about a Morecambe fight back in the second half. When up stepped Shay and he perfectly slotted in his free kick.:jimbo:
This time to the left side of the keeper!:jimbo:
He has certainly learned from earlier in the season when he was trying to blast them. :jimbo:
Now he just jogs up to the ball and concentrates on curl and placement.:jimbo:
His kicks are only hit hard enough to clear the wall but then drop towards the bottom corner which makes it very difficult for any keeper to get anywhere near!:jimbo:

The changes in the match came when Bentley did his double substitution on 62 minutes and when Seamus Coneely picked up his injury. :thumbsdowWe lost midfield and sat back too much and it was worse still when Seamus hobbled off. Coley brought on 'The Don' at left back and moved Matt Pearson into midfield but it did not work at all. Matt went out of the game and we played with all 11 back most of the time so when we did clear the ball upfield it just came straight back!

Marek Rodak again proved his worth in the closing minutes making one really world class save in the process!:mosher:

It was certainly a nervous last ten minutes of the ninety plus FIVE added on! I don't know where the referee got 5 minutes from? :idunno:However, we held out for a well rewarded victory.
Yes, it was a nice touch to observe Deano's family loss and I am sure that he and his family appreciated our sentiments.

If Stanley could play for 95 minutes like we did for the first 60 last night then we would be the best team in our Division for sure. I do still think that we just need to be more clinical with our finishing though.....:jimbo:
The football that our boys are playing is wonderful to behold and we should all be spreading the word to our friends and colleagues and get them down to the improving Wham Stadium to see exactly how good it is!:mosher:
The vocal support last night was superb from our fans and the repertoire of songs was wide ranging. We just need those flags and banners again boys and girls!:theband:
Moving up the table steadily now.......Let's see how far we can go!
:wave8::signbeer::drink:
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

Good summary Choirboy - I thought there would be 4 mins of stoppage ... a few subs, a couple of goals, injury to Seamus. So 5 mins wasn't a massive surprise - although I did groan when I saw it.

I've realised, after reading other accounts, I must have been overcritical of our boys last night, or maybe the performance v Orient spoiled me.

Don't know what the hell to do about midfield. Who was the bloke who got 10 mins against Orient? Was he not OK? Can Romy do the Seamus role? I'm happy enough with Husin, but I thought he tired and faded.... but come saturday his fitness may have improved after the last couple of games.

Hewitt was on bench last night tho' I would have thought Lacey would be best fit to replace Seamus. Lacey and Husin are a bit inexperienced so wouldn't be surprised if Matty P reprised last nights role and partnered Husin.

One comment on last night- why is Coley so reluctant to bring Edwards on with 15-20 mins to go when strikers are dead on their feet?

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

One thing that stood out last night was Accis work ethic and they pressed all over the park forcing Morecambe to go long .
It started from Billy and Shay, who must have had some red bull !!!
Beckles and Hughes could have played in slippers in the first half,it was that easy, this allowed the fullbacks to push on and pin Morecambe back.
Playing 4-4-2 against Acci is asking for trouble, and with Moly and Ellison staying wide, they just got passed to death.
Time and time again,Sean drifted inside,Shay dropped in and Morecambe had no answer.
Thought the lad alongside Coneelly was excellent, and his reading of the game was very good.
I told Yonmon how the game would go before the match,Although i predicted 3-1,and it wasn't a surprise, although Morecambe normally play three at the back, which was strange

I was surprised to see Hewitt on the bench, must admit I thought he'd left us - haven't seen Lacey around or warming up either, not sure if he's still at the club.
If Seamus isn't fit for Saturday I'd start Rommy tbh

Re: Morecambe - All's Well That Ends Well!

If Seamus Coneely does not recover for Saturday I think that I would leave Matty Pearson at left back and play either Davies or 'The Don' in Seamus' position at centre midfield.

Chapman
Rodgers Beckles Hughes Pearson
Clarke Husin Donacien (or Davies) McConville
McCarten
Kee

ps. It was nice to chat with 'Chevy Fire' who introduced himself before the match last night.

Maybe there's something in the loan deal that says if we play him so many times we have too sign him, like west hams loan of zaza

Davies won't be fit in time mate. Lacey is history. The Don I guess could fulfil the role.
Hope Chapman is ready to step in ...... difficult act to follow.

Surely Chapman will manage for one game against bloody Grimsby?

Anyone know what Seamus's injury is?

Curious why Chapman and not Rodak or was last night his final game?

Part of my thread (#54) after the Hartlepool match;

'We've been whinging all season about the lack of stature in our attack.
About how we need a big strong striker to bully the opposition.
Well, perhaps the answer has been staring us in the face all along.
This is my cunning plan!
Put the man mountain that is Aaron Chapman up front. At six foot eight, defenders would just bounce off him.
Think of the corners he would head in without jumping'.
I rest my case!

Dear, dear Stiffupperlip. To display your ignorance to the world once might be classed as carelessness. To do it twice shows you are utterly bonkers.

Or whatever that phrase is.

regarding playing chapman up front, it might sound a crazy idea but it has happened before. rotherham played their goalkeeper up front in a number of games in the early 60,s and i,m sure he scored. can,t remember his name but he was a tall lanky lad. can anyone remember his name.

Didsbury old boy!
I'll take your last thread to be some sort of vindication that I am, in fact, not ignorant as you inferred, but actually a genius!
If Jurgen Klopp can do it, so can we.
I bet Chapman would be deadly in front of goal - as long as it's the oppositions.
:D

alan fettis hull city keeper in the 90,s played up front in emergencies and scored 2 goals.
