Pre-kick off

what ever happened to the pre-kick off toss up to see which end we wnat to shoot into so then the fans can get to the right side!!!

I guess jase would love to have this back as everyweek he strings up his flags then he has to untie them and move them around if the teams change ends!!!

Is it just because the opposition club dont turn up in time or is their some ruling against it?????

The Refs are asked every week, but most refuse to toss up until both teams take the field. The ref did, however, allow it last Sat against D & R, but I forgot to announce it.

No excuses & sorry for the mistake folks!!

Thanks for your question, Steven. When I originated this idea , I asked Alan "Shotgun" Smith (who knows football's laws backwards) if there was anything in the rules that might prevent it being implemented. He assured me (and I know he was right) that the rules allowed this to happen. However, the Official (referee) present could choose to override any local preference. Last season, on the grounds of Health & Safety, every referee that I can remember went along with our preference, although it must be admitted that we weren't always able to implement it due to our own shortcomings. Nevertheless, at most home matcches the turnstile area became far less congested and safety was, obviously, improved dramatically. In my humble opinion there can only be one reason why a referee should want to contradict this piece of common sense, and that is because he can't be bothered to turn up early enough.

to be fair to the referees i think that they are under so much pressure with every performance being assessed and their every move being watched that they are very wary of doing anything different in case it comes back to haunt them
