Crawley away
Can you pay on the gate?
|
Re: Crawley away
We'll check; imagine so as we're hardly going to sell what they've sent us!!
|
Re: Crawley away
just stumbled across a travel news item that says re-surfacing work closes the M23 between J10 (Crawley) and J9 (Gatwick) for the next 4 weekends. Only northbound is specified so far but worth keeping an eye for those driving to the game. Now where did I put that old road atlas - - - -

Re: Crawley away
Crawley seem to have improved over the past 2 months, Harry Kewell saying his ideas and plans in training are finally coming to fruition
|
Re: Crawley away
do we know if its pay on the gate?
|
Re: Crawley away
I'm not sure they take cash at the turnstile but I don't recall ever having any trouble buying tickets from their ticket office before the game at Crawley.
Further to LongLost's post, I understand the closure of the M23 applies only to the northbound carriageway between Jcts 10 and 9. To drive to the ground it's best to come off the M23 at Jct 11, then head back to Crawley on the A23 for a mile. Afterwards, if driving north, the official diversion should take you towards the A22 to join the M25 at Jct 6. Alternatively, from the ground you could follow the A23 around Crawley towards Gatwick, then follow A217 to Reigate and onto Jct 8 on the M25. |
Re: Crawley away
set off early and take an atlas. it works for me.

Re: Crawley away
:) Be Rude not to use this as the match thread so here goes . Man in the Middle Gavin Ward The Surrey-based official has taken charge of 30 games across the EFL and it's associated competitions so far this season, issuing 81 yellow cards and four reds. assisted by Steve Brown and Grant Taylor. The fourth official is Ben Cobb. :)

if the above is correct a good move by them. i,m one who decides to go to an away match at the last minuit and not a week before so have never known why you have to pay extra due to this. |
Re: Crawley away
Reckon tomorrow will be another cracker, Kewell has got them motoring a bit, so expect a real tough 90 mins.

Most of the relative info should be on the link. It isn't quite pay on the gate - you just have to buy the ticket from the ticket office before you go through the gate. If you like your ale the Brewery Shades is the only pub in town that does a decent pint (I'll be having my pre-match ales in Horsham meself). I'll be there but flamin' typical Ossie can't make it -got some kind of gumboil that means he can't watch footy. Well it's his loss. |
Re: Crawley away
Team unchanged from last week - best of luck lads :)

Re: Crawley away

Re: Crawley away
Can't keep chasing 3 goals second half surely? By all accounts weve been best side like last week.
|
Re: Crawley away
V tight game, all margins have gone to Crawley. First goal a worldie header, their keeper making save after save. Our delivery into the box has been poor, most chances created from the right, we need to find a way to get Sean Mac into the game. Crawley look decent, the no.7 best player by a long way, by no means is it going to be easy to get back into this, but an early goal for us might give us a chance.

Just gotta bounce back against our friends next week :) |
Re: Crawley away
Dropped to 5th - thanks Morecambe! Couldn't just hold out against Mansfield could you

Re: Crawley away
Their keeper MOTM and rightly so gives some indication of the chances we created. That said, thought Crawley did a job on us, shackled Sean Mc, didn't give Billy any space either, Kayden was the only one up front to really give them problems. Probably deserved a point but they worked hard to stop us playing and also expertly wasted time. Some very frustrated Stanley players by the end. The lads put a full shift in, so no complaints from me. A filthy day down here as well, hardly conducive to flowing football.

Re: Crawley away
roll on next saturday. think its going to be a rollercoaster from now to the end of the season.

Re: Crawley away
As ever, a spot-on summary from Mr.Whalley. Teams were well matched and both tried to play an attractive passing game, but conditions didn't always help.
Other than luck and an outstanding performance from their keeper, I thought the difference was one or two Crawley players being a bit stronger on and off the ball, their midfielders seeming to have more options and, consequently, Crawley reacting a bit more quickly when they had the ball. I thought the relative lack of pace from Messrs Hughes and Brown was exploited to Crawley's advantage on a few occasions, not least their second goal which was the only goal of the three that could not be described as pure fluke. Overall, though, a good performance from the Stanley squad and one that should have warranted a point - if only life and football was fair. |
Re: Crawley away
Horrible weather on the day, made worse by the 25 minute walk from the station.
Though Donacien was awful, his passing was woeful and his decision making was a good few seconds slower than the other players on the pitch. Likewise, billy kee was poor and should have been taken off. i am still not convinced by Brown, especially when he plays alongside Nolan Mcconville did nothing of note, but they did constantly double up on him. Jackson and Richards-Everton played well, |

Re: Crawley away
well donacien was by far away stanleys worst player with the ball
takes forever to make a decision. |
Re: Crawley away
We all have our opinions, Davo, but I didn't particularly notice that Donacien was any worse or better than any other Stanley player. He was playing left-back, which doesn't appear to be his natural side, and if there's no-one in space to receive his pass.......he might have to think twice.
Professor Coleman has long had a blind spot over natural left-footed players, and doesn't always play the ones he has or had. At the moment he has two right-footers operating down the left wing. I'm also not sure Billy played that badly. What I noticed about his performance was that he invariably was able to control the ball immediately when he received it. A few others didn't seem to have that close control, and their first touch took the ball away from them, not helped by a very slick pitch. Agree with your other observations, though. Also thought young Mr. Johnson did well and saw a lot of the ball before he was subbed. |
Re: Crawley away
We have been complaining from a good few matches now, about our "so called bosses" continually playing the Don, on the wrong side!! for us hes one of our better players, when played in his right side, if he dont perform well the blame to me certainly does not lie at his door.

Re: Crawley away
And it shouldn't go unnoticed that when he does switch to the right the service to Clark improves.
