Re: The final run in.
17 points out of a possible 27 sounds really doable, the only team able to catch us then would be Luton and they would need 22 points out of a possible 24.
Coventry have a tough task to finish third MH, I reckon they will have to get to 85 points and that still may not be not be enough. |

I only start looking when the last 5 or 6 games come up, too many permutations at the moment. All I know is if we beat the teams that we expect to then we only need a win and a couple of draws from the tougher games

Couldn't agree more, Stanley are in the best position for promotion and it would take a disaster to not be in league one next year but those who are able still have to cheer them on right through to the glorious end. The guesstimates are just for fun for those who like to work figures. ON STANLEY ON LADS.

Re: The final run in.
How ironic that, should Stanley achieve promotion this year, it's looking unlikely that near neighbours Blackburn, Wigan, Bury & Rochdale will be there to meet us. :(
Still, the mere thought of Sunderland, Birmingham or possibly Barnsley, visiting the Wham next year together with Bradford City & Blackpool? Perhaps we can afford to demolish the old cowshed after our last home game against Lincoln City? Come to think of it, if we beat em, maybe those imps will do the job for nowt! :dflam: |

Would be nice if Chesterfield can do a Port Vale on County this afternoon, or even better a Forest Green & put a bit more daylight between us & fourth place

Said all along 85 points gets you promotion. With 27 up for grabs it will be nothing short of a disaster now if we don’t make it.
|

Now 2 - 1 at Chesterfield . . . . . . park the bus Spireites!!
|
Re: The final run in.
Finished 3 - 1 phew! Brilliant result :)

Re: The final run in.
Without any doubt was well deserved 3pts for Chesterfield.:)
|
Re: The final run in.
Twenty Eight - I believe I’ve said all along that 82 points will do it....or certainly less than your pessimistic total. I stand by that prediction. (Well, I bloody should do after Wycombe, Notts and Mansfield results this weekend!)
As I’ve said before, the teams below us just cannot string a run together and if any of them average 2pts per game they will have done very well indeed. Hats off to you picking up on Cov though. I’ve not noticed them turning things around. |
Re: The final run in.
I still don’t think 85 is pessimistic. Time will tell.
|
Re: The final run in.
Whatever the final points outcome I’m really pleased we’ve got Exeter, Notts, Wycombe and Mansfield yet to play as we battle Luton for top spot. They will all feel like big games to be motivated for rather than banana skins.
The only one I really fear is Wycombe and that’s because of the blinking Beast. |

I think its possible we could already be promoted by the time the beast comes on the scene.;)

Re: The final run in.
Unlikely that Coley will make a tactical change don’t you think? hopefully Dunne will tame him this time, but he’s going to have to do it in a less physical way.

I'm convinced 3 more wins will do it.:)

ON STANLEY ON LADS, ON STANLEY ON, WE'LL CHEER OUR HEADS OFF WHEN YOU GET THAT BALL INTO THE NET. To the tune of "On Stanley on" I think I must have taken a couple of Wyn's pills! After today I'm sure we are the only team going to be over 90 points, I think Luton and Coventry will be 2 and 3 and the rest are going to scramble for a play off spot. What a season. Thanks Stanley it could only happen with you.

Re: The final run in.
Where’s Twenty Eight? Surely you’ve got to belueve my long standing prediction of 82 points for promotion now?

I’m happy to celebrate the performances and if every other challenger wants to capitulate that’s their look out. Here’s another one for you 101 points champions. |
Re: The final run in.
I think a look back at Inspector Morse’s pessimism and glowing Mansfield comments are far more worthy of a revisit !!!!
|
Re: The final run in.
Has as already been said - win the next three and the Reds cannot be denied a promotion place. Exeter are the club below a promotion place who can accrue the most points (87) as the third match is against them we would be on 86 while reducing their maximum total to 84. Just the little task of beating Notts County and Colchester as well first.
|
Re: The final run in.
'I think a look back at Inspector Morse’s pessimism and glowing Mansfield comments are far more worthy of a revisit !!!!'
They were fairly made at the time of writing. Unfortunately I had not the clairvoyance to see the Evans defection coming. Mansfield are a strong side and gave us a game yesterday with 10 men. The spirit the lads have shown has been amazing and a joy to watch. Good to see Seamus get his deserved moment in the spotlight. 3 more games and we could be there. |
Re: The final run in.
Promotion could easily be in 7 days with just two other results going our way, and likely to be overshadowed by the premier league title being decided.

Don’t despair Twenty Eight. Social media is just a place where we alternate between showing how clever we are and attempt to cover up how stupid we are.
I’ve got a Facebook post from back in August /September when I implored everyone I knew to sell their house and put the money on Stanley getting promotion. That will be wheeled out shortly to show how god damn smart I am. I just hope no-one remembers a similar (but totally wrong) message of confidence from last year! Anyway, looks like 80-81 points is now looking good enough. |

Re: The final run in.

Argyle have a great chance of winning the League Two title next week but how much prize money would they receive? The answer is: none! There is no extra prize money for winning a championship because all League Two teams receive the same payments from the EFL regardless of finishing position. Last month I asked those in charge at the EFL how much prize money would a title winning team receive and they confirmed there is no extra prize money for finishing top of League Two and no ladder system operates across all three divisions of the EFL. So Argyle, should they win the title, will receive the same financial payments as relegated Leyton Orient. Each League Two club will receive £472,000 as a 'basic award' plus a £430,000 'solidarity payment' from the Premier League. Basic award across the EFL: Championship - £2.084m. League 1 - £677,000. League 2 - £472,000. Premier League Solidarity payment across the EFL: Championship - £4.3m League 1 - £645,000. League 2 - £430,000. A trophy will just have to do! |

It's still raining steadily down here in Clayton le Moors and I have been monitoring postponements on the BBC Red button......
Several matches off in the North West now at; Bradford City and also, Halifax, Tranmere, Barrow, Stockport, Southport and a few others too. Stanley Website and Twitter saying NO pitch inspection needed but I am sure the Referees will be looking at it at 12.30pm. So watch the website......(usually slow to give notice!) and Twitter, Facebook etc and also the BBC Red Button and the BBC Sport/Football Website. Would be a real pity for County fans to find it postponed when they were nearly in Accrington!:( |
Re: The final run in.
Bloody hell ..... I’ve dug the car out ready for 12.30 departure subject to road report updates in the M62.
Keep us travellers updated guys much appreciated. |
Re: The final run in.
2 Div1 games off, Doncaster @ Scunthorpe seems yorkshire got it worse than us. Bradford as well now.
|
Re: The final run in.
Getting heavier now, I know it is meant to ease off in 2 hours but a decision should be made before then.
I will await the refs inspection, I expect it will be about 1.15pm IF it is announced if it is called off. |
