Sold a ten year old.

One of our ten year old academy lads has actually been sold to "Everton" that to me is incredible, and great credit to our academy staff, Never heard of a lad that young being sold before, The kid must have great potential and hope the deal has add ons if his potential develops?:)

When I clicked on this thread thought I would be reading something that should have been in the Scum are at it again thread. Anyway good luck to the youngster.

Good luck to the lad, hope he fulfils his dreams, and well done to the Stanley Academy for developing his talents.
But I can't help but have an uneasy feeling reading that a 10 year old boy is being bought and sold by football clubs.

How times have changed. I remember the days when football clubs were not even allowed to approach schoolboys.

Nothing to do with Barry Bennell,
Long before him, After the war, although they could be watched by club scouts, boys could not be approached to sign for a club until they had left school.

in theory you were right but in practice words like when you leave school we will offer you the chance of being an apprentice with us or a trial. do not think there were no brown envelopes about either.

I wish my 9 year old was good enough to be in that position, I'd have said the swear word and he would have told them the "off" bit.

Its so, so wrong on multi levels. By 14 he might never kick a ball again

Way too much pressure on a kid of 10, let him enjoy all the things lads get up while he's young enough.

You could not have put it better Ossy Kid

Quote from Bobby Charlton- Not only was he the best player I ever played with, but was the best I have ever seen. His name Duncan Edwards.

He was 15 years old when he signed amateur forms for United

Can't argue with that, two of Englands finest.

Fair play to the academy, I hope the club are compensated suitably.

Agreed with other points, I really hope the lad does well, but can't help thinking the "transfer" of a player of 10 years old is crazy.
