From the chairman on social media

And btw, I’ve told John Coleman, Jimmy Bell and John Doolan, THEY AINT GOING ANYWHERE unless the @LFC job comes up.

That’s where I stand on that issue. There will be no agreement from me for another club to “talk to them” we are building the club.

#justsaying

In return, if we have the odd **** run I will stand by them too. Loyalty has to work both ways.

So now we all know the clubs position.

Come on Stanley!!

I doubt they would want to go back to Ireland and manage Limerick, but if they did there are standard compensation rules and the majority share holder could not stop them.

I assume a pay increase would be/ has been given to mitigate the threat of suitors?

You had to fear it was gonna happen. Wouldve liked to have seen a few changes made to freshen it up and give the fringe players a reward. The hard work has been done and it must be hard to get one last, meaningless, 90 minutes out of tired legs

Crewe played a team of Academy players, all of them with at least one first team game on their CV.

A positive from today is that the Shrimps managed to hold on for a draw at Coventry and preserve their League status. Coventry's second-biggest crowd of the season! Well done to 'em.

Re: Well, here it is . . . . . .

Disappointing but can't be too down after what the lads have done this season - they looked jiggered, bless 'em - Kidderminster all over again at end of conference winning season.
Still a good day out & our lot, as usual barely stopped singing in stark contrast to the Swindon fans who didn't have a chant between 'em

cashman 05-05-2018 17:34

Re: Well, here it is . . . . . .

The fact they looked jiggered, yet the bench warmers didn't start, dont say a right lot about good tactics in my book. crewe played theres today and won.

Re: Well, here it is . . . . . .

Stanley fans were fantastic today. Atmosphere just before kick off was electric with Dave Burgess flaunting the L2 trophy.
Stanley started like champions but once Swindon scored, they seemed to deflate. And after Swindon scored two more, they ended like chumpians.
Combination of some very lackadaisical defending, nothing going right for Stanley, and, as Professor Coleman said, Swindon converting their few chances.
Their No.30 rightly MoM as he caused trouble all over the pitch. Wonder if he fancies playing for a League 1 team?

Looking at the shirt numbers of the Swindon team (most of 'em seemed be 30 plus) I thought they must be fringe players! If they were they certainly gave Stanley a haircut today.

Disappointing end to a brilliant and memorable season. But, heh, the records will still show Stanley as champions.

Have to agree with others posts, why not play the likes of Maxted, Big Ben, Rodgers, Williams, etc etc ??? Give them a run out with fresh legs on a hot day, with nothing to lose ??

A very strange decision for me.

Disagree, i fail to see how obstinacy encourages a young player to stay. no-ones knocking his achievements, but its obvious to me why a big club aint come a knocking fer J.C. despite all the miracles he got at Stanley.

Two weeks ago all three EFL champions went away and won 0-4. This weekend two of them lost 3-0!
Only Wigan spoilt the symmetry and, guess what, they needed to win yesterday to ensure they were champions!
C'est la football.

No ones talking about the games up to securing promotion then the Championship - stop distorting things.
The starting 11 were spent forces even a numpty like me could see that going into this game.
Maxted Big Ben Sousa Zanzala should have started minimum.

Reckon I’d have let all the lads who have waited patiently for months have their reward yesterday.

By my reckoning 80 points would have won us promotion. Who’d have thought it? (Smiley face emoticon for Twenty Eight).

Depends on results as some other teams would have got points. N County lost 5 and Exeter lost 2 to us.

Those wanting to get promotion to the Championship would have to weigh it up against the all seater stadium and then not allowed standing ever again at the Crown if there is a relegation.

Lord Didsbury 07-05-2018 19:02

Re: Well, here it is . . . . . .

GOod point Chewbacca! Although my assumptions were always based on the teams below us being unable to average more than 2 points a game whoever the opposition was.
If you looked at individual matches retrospectively and say ‘what if this, what if that’ then you could come up with any scenario of your choosing.
Bottom line is that the teams chasing us were simply not good enough, as predicted - and the results showed that.

I think “giving him stick” is a little over the top description.
He’s the gaffer he makes the calls everyone gets that but sites like this shouldn’t be about self gratification all the time but honest debate.

Sorry meant to post this much earlier

No idea, but haven't checked if Crewe's team ticked boxes.

Following issues last year; new rules voted in last year by EFL.

From late March ALL teams must have on every team sheet 10 outfield players who were on previous games team sheet.
Ie no playing the U18's and no mass changes to assist the opposition.

Ie : IF Cov's manager didn't like Barnet; he could play the Youth Team v Morecambe; sure there are other better examples.

Coley could have made a few changes; but not the numbers that some people were asking for.

Surprised EFL haven't got this out into the public domain more.

think it should be more to do with the game that was taking place. if there is nothing on the result of the game and it did not effect promotion or relegation than it would not really matter what side is put out by any side.

Just clocked the comment a page back about Accyweb giving Coley stick. I see it on twitter every now and again.

It seems a bit weird to have a go at a forum in this way. A public forum is, by nature, an ever changing collection of views and people, each laying out their opinions and rationale. I'm not sure how you can actually dislike that. I suppose people might pick out the bits they dislike (eg, "I think coley blundered by picking Smithers-Jones at right back today") and assume everyone hates Coleman?

I feel the same way about "What's wrong with Accrington, why don't they support the club more?" How can you get angry at a community of 35,000 diverse people?

I know the demographic on twitter tends to be younger and more upbeat and it's bloody marvellous for it, but I don't see what the problem with a place where it's a bit more critical from time to time.

Interesting.
