A very good result for the Stanley on a very windy day which made it difficult to play our normal passing game. However, we coped well and did manage to play some good stuff. We could easily have won by five goals had we put our chances away. :jimbo::jimbo::jimbo:
Bradford looked like a team in transition as most of their long serving players have gone and they fielded a young looking team today. They did look dangerous on occasions, particularly in the first fifteen minutes and for a similar period half way through the second half.
The experience of Hughes and the determined heading of the swirling high balls by Ihiekwe saw us through. Very difficult today to pick a Stanley MOM as there were lots of candidates. We sensibly didn't roll too many balls out from our keeper today because the conditions mitigated against it and so Billy had a lot to do which he did well again.:theband:
Billy really SMASHED the ball into the side of the net for another penalty which set us on our way. It was super to see Zanzala score another goal too as he was a constant threat and had to be dragged back frequently by the Bradford defenders.:cheers:
I didn't rate the Referee today or his assistant on the Whinney Hill side but I do think that we benefited somewhat from their ineptitude!:pcool::pph34r:
I thought that Sam Finley had a cracking game too today.:jimbo:

Great result and the away fans should mean a good income despite the expected weather and train strike.

The new stand has a completely inadequate roof, unless you were sat at the back row today you got wet.

The happy hour pound a pint thing had ended at 5.45pm, and they were pouring schooners after a while into the hour, The game finished at 4.54 didn't it?

Another excellent win. Two up front improved are attacking ability and created the chances to boot. Score was a fair reflection of the game. Bradford where worthy of a goal. Maxted made a couple of good safes but we where worthy of are 3 goals. Zanzala was a consistant threat and mcconville scored a good goal and nearly scored a couple more. Mcconville has continued where he left off last year but in a higher standard/division. Numerous good performances elsewhere in team. The next couple of weeks may give us an idea of how good we really are with the calibre of teams we have to play (Peterborough, or
Portsmouth). Still am pleased to have amassed so many points already.

To be fair, on a day like today you're very likely to get wet if you're in the main stand too - depending on which way the wind's blowing & think maybe you're being a bit picky about the timing of the £ a pint offer, it always finishes at 5.45 more or less as that's an hour after the match is supposed to finish

On the positive side, there was only 1,230 odd Bradford fans, meaning a home crowd of over 2,100 came to support the 'Reds'. A vast improvement despite the weather. (Source was a thread on Twitter showing top away support in League 1. Only Plymouth took more fans away!)

The fanszone attracted early punters to have a beer, food and enjoy the live Sky game on a large TV. And next to the main stand, a band belted out cover songs with people singing along. After the game, the club bar was open to fans and another band got on stage. Hundreds of fans didn’t rush home at 4.45pm. They stayed and sat in the stand, or the bar, enjoying pints and chatting about the game with Holt and Tony Warner. And young kids had a kickabout on the Stanley pitch.
Accrington Stanley have successfully turned a trip to the football into a full afternoon’s entertainment. They don’t have the biggest fanbase of course, but actively encourage supporters to arrive early and stay late. Not only are such efforts increasing supporters’ engagement with the club, it’s undoubtedly boosting overall revenue. All of this is helping to foster a collective spirit. This felt like a community football club, where everyone is a part of the success.
(And it really is success too. The newly-promoted Accrington sit in sixth place – a play off spot – after this victory. unquote :):)
