Luton Match
Think this will be much tougher than sats game, Luton like us have the form at the moment, personally a draw will do me, but hope for a win. Unchanged side thats a good thing imho
|
Re: Luton Match
Hopefully get something from this. If we manage to score first and make them chase the game a bit would create some space for our front 4. But won't be too upset if we got a draw.

Re: Luton Match

Re: Luton Match
Stanley been very good against a decent team.
They are defending well against Clark and Seany. Barlaser (he’s class) and Finley doing well in the middle though. Zanzala his usual self - lots of running and got himself two clear headers on goal - he probably should have scored both. Defence doing well - their first goal was a cracker - but we were sloppy in injury time when they might have nicked another. Need to get Kee into this as the game is passing him by, but otherwise just keep going Stanley! |

Re: Luton Match
How did the referee do tonight...?
Chris Sarginson, who IMHO has had some very poor games in recent years when I have seen him refereeing Stanley matches. According to BBC Sport stats tonight, he only gave free kicks for 22 fouls, (13 against Luton and only 9 against Stanley), but booked five players, (2 from Luton and 3 from Stanley!!!) plus the two from the bench in the tunnel at half time!:oke2: Just wondering........ Stanley still up there in 4th place though.:) |
Re: Luton Match
Hopefully just a blip, put it behind us & make it right on Saturday. Thankfully we're still in 4th place - & at least our fans will stand a chance of getting out of Kenilworth Road without having to be locked in for their own safety this time.
We go again . . . . |
Re: Luton Match
Oh dear, beaten by the better team on the night.
Don’t think we played badly but they were very effective on the break and defended well and were generally solid. They also played the game in great spirit. Alas, we did not always. Thought Barlaser and McConville were equal MOTM. |
Re: Luton Match
Choirboy - ref did ok.
|
Re: Luton Match
Just listened to Coley's post match interview, was expecting fireworks but thought he was very calm & collected considering the result.
A disappointing night but it's done with, bring on Portsmouth - looking forward to a cracker of a game |
Re: Luton Match
By all accounts we didn,t play badly better team on the night won. i never really expected us to win given lutons form of late. only disappointment is the score to me. but onwards and upwards,

Re: Luton Match
Luton fan in peace here. Unlucky last night, but well done on the good start to the season.
I'm just here as was interested whether any of you who were at the game heard any of these alleged monkey chants that an Accrington fan (and BBC producer) tweeted about? I've been going for 30 years and have never heard anything remotely like this, so to me it seems incredibly unlikely. A bit of ****ehousery from both teams, and a bit of a lively atmosphere is one thing, but I just can't see this as having happened. Maybe she misheard boos or chants of "who? Who? Who?" when a sub was introduced, but to put quite a serious allegation like that on twitter, as a BBC journalist, when no one else seems to have heard it seems irresponsible. I fit happened then it's a disgrace, but we now have this against our name. Whether it was true or not doesn't matter as it's on twitter which essentially acts as judge and jury without any evidence. |
Re: Luton Match
Very unsavoury post match recriminations on Twitter.
I find myself rather sympathetic towards Luton. Seems they were very kind to the Stanley fans with free food and drink, then played the game in great spirit. However, sean seems to have initially angered them (there’s no doubt he dived outrageously) but then some Stanley fan BBC journalist has publicly voiced what appears to be a rather dodgy allegation of racist chanting that has gone down predictably badly. In the highly unlikely event there’s any substance to it, I’m really not sure what good will come of voicing off on Twitter, inevitably generating ill feeling with Luton fans, rather than just reporting what she thinks she heard to officials? |
Re: Luton Match
Were you actually at the match Lord D?
|
Re: Luton Match
Lord D.
The free food vouchers - yes, a nice gesture but perhaps it was also an apology for the way our fans were treated last season. Sean - let's face it, even if he'd played like an angel the Luton fans can't stand him after he celebrated rather vociferously in last season's victory at Kenilworth Rd. As for the racist abuse allegations, she did not just tweet about it, she reported it to the police - something I doubt she'd do without any substance. |

Re: Luton Match
Time for reality to kick in. We're over achieving and still going great. Luton have invested heavily and score goals for fun at home.
You cannot train a goalscorer instinct. Being in the right place at the right time. In Collins and Hylton Luton have just that ...... but they've financially had to invest above and beyond to secure that. Apart from the goals Hylton did very little but if you're a Luton fan who cares ? Compare that to Zanzala (who is doing much better in recent weeks) and you can see he's having to think to get into areas rather than instinctively getting there. Hylton three chances three goals. Zanzala three clear chances one goal. Before everyone starts it not a criticism of Zanzala just where we are right now. I would have taken being five points above the relegation spots at this time of the season before the season started having looked at the fixtures so to be where we are is fantastic. Defensively Ripleys return will help confidence. No surprise to me to see Hughes being a bit nervy with Maxted behind him. Saturday is another massive test. However you've got to play em some time. |
Re: Luton Match
Clark now suspended for Saturday after picking up 5 bookings. Piero to start on the right?
|
Re: Luton Match
One of those things. Hardly a dirty player and never shows dissent ...... and never any unsporting behaviour. Very unlucky when you see some of the stuff dished out on him that goes unpunished. Think he'll be a big miss Saturday as much for his defensive abilities .... he doesn't half put in shift in that sometimes goes unnoticed.
|
Re: Luton Match
Not that I think there should be a knee jerk reaction to a loss or that we are doing anything particularly wrong, but maybe a change to a 3 5 2 might be something to think about. Would probably be a bit more defensive than current set up as our left and right back play so high up the pitch. Just a thought to throw a bit of a curve ball at the opposition. We did the same for a short period last year which did produce some results before reverting back after a few poor results.
|
Re: Luton Match
Not even November and players banned for totting up???? Not good!!

Re: Luton Match
And of all the players......

Clark accruing five yellow cards says more about poor referees than it does about the player.

The “booking” at Oxford was never in the refs report ....... hey ho. |

Think McConvilles on 4 as well
|
Re: Luton Match
McConville, Brown and Sykes all showing as being one match away from suspension. After 19 league games the cut off goes up to 10 yellow cards.

Not that it’s important. Sit out Saturday and come back all guns firing. Another brace at Coventry will do nicely. |
Re: Luton Match
Re Luton fans racist chanting.
No Cashy, I was not there. But I have been on Twitter and seen the considerable bad feeling she has caused by mouthing off in public. If she thinks that Twitter is the place to put Luton fans on trial then I’m afraid she has lost. No corroborating witnesses, but plenty of credible witnesses to the contrary. Anyway, Luton made a statement earlier today. https://www.lutontown.co.uk/news/201...tement-261018/ |

As for your comments on the person who reported the abuse, just because more people said it didn't happen than said that it did doesn't make them right - of course the Luton supporters are going to deny any knowledge of it! |
Re: Luton Match
I am a lifelong Luton supporter and was at the game. You were embarrassing during the game (particularly McConville), you were embarrassing at half-time trying to provoke a sending off, your manager's post match interview should embarrass any of the fifty or so Accy fans who actually watched the game, and then out of spite Luton fans are falsely accused of racist chanting. I used to have a soft spot for Accrington Stanley and have found the stewards and fans very friendly up there but you are now a huge embarrassment to football and totally lacking in class
|
Re: Luton Match
I was thinking that myself.
Unless I'm at a game I'm not going to put my opinion forward I'll rely on those who were there. So basically he's used social media to create his own opinion on the game in general. Weird. |

Re: Luton Match
I'm sure there will be plenty of people with opinions on politicians and england football managers without ever being in Parliament or getting an England cap.
The fact is that i have witnessed with my own eyes the playing out of this misjudged tweet over the past few days and feel eminently qualified to comment on the fall out from it. It's not been a pretty sight. I assume one of two things happened. Either monkey chants happened or the journalist concerned thought she heard monkey chants. There is a third possibility but actually very few people think she made it up willfully. That's not the point. The point is about what happened next..... Once an allegation is made like this in public, with what looks like pretty stark and inciteful language, the damage to the reputation of Luton begins, and the anger rises. It doesn't take the benefit of hindsight to spot it coming....Sure enough, a Sun Journalist has waded in and twisted things around. A well known BBC journalist has retweeted and then made matters worse by robustly defending the initial tweet in a rather condescending manner. When clearly shocked Luton fans have sought further information about what is alleged to have happened, they have been met with a wall of silence. Over the past few days this has escalated as not one person has come forward to substantiate it. (Imagine if that happened in Accrington. Not one Stanley fan would come forward to decry racist chanting? Bloody hell, there was moaning on here for a rude word in a song a couple of years back). The demands for the complainant to give more information have fallen on deaf ears. Instead a mass blocking of Luton fans appears to have taken place. In my opinion, in the absence of not tweeting it at all and simply letting police and stewards investigate, the next best course of action would be some olive branch to Luton fans? ....She's a journalist after all. Andy Holt has tweeted about it this morning. It's a superb example of an olive branch. Fair enough, there will be others who think all possible racist incidents should be tackled head on, and publicly, and without concern for the feelings and reputations of other parties. However, in this case I am completely behind the luton fans because of the manner in which this happened.... even if subsequently there is found to be substance in the allegations. |
Re: Luton Match
Well put, Lord Didders, but the entire episode is something about which I knew nothing and would prefer to keep it that way, which is why I stay well away from Twitter. It seems to me that, eventually, the Twitterati will make twits of us all, if we let them.
There has, of course, always been the equivalent of Twitter even before the age of instant messaging, but we all had the sense then to refer to it by its proper name, hearsay. |

Accy Mad you can watch most non-Saturday games on the interweb for £10 through the other club's website.
For about £4 you can get full radio commentary on Saturday games. Oxford and Luton away have both been on. |
Re: Luton Match
But the Lordship said he didn't .......... boring now. Move on.

Re: Luton Match
I can't see him saying he did not watch the live stream only that he was not at the game unless some posts have been changed.
Moving forward is Clicker starting on the left tomorrow? |
Re: Luton Match
We shall see ......... I sincerely hope so.
|
Re: Luton Match
Accymad - the thing is called iFollow and it works via your PC.
As stated, you can watch midweek matches and some saturday games (when there are internationals on i think). If you are abroad you can watch all matches (and it only costs 6 euros/game). Stanley don't have it, but you can still watch the home games via the opposition's iFollow (unless we are playing someone who also hasn't signed up. if you use something like Chromecast you can have your PC display through your telly. The main downside is that you get local commentary from away fans. So, for the Peterborough match we had comments about Callum Johnson only being 12 years old etc. |
