Clayton End v Derby
Saturday Fans Display
Stanley Ultras supporters group have organised a show of colour to motivate & inspire the players. Please could everyone join in as follows, fan participation is really important. EVERYONE in Clayton End will Be given a flag. When the players come out, wave it like a mad man. Once you have waved the flag fling it to the back of the Clayton End I know some folk maybe too old or cool to wave a flag but I promise the players do get motivated by this. It only take 5 min of your time. On Stanley On |

I don't think the players have any motivation problems.
As Derby have a higher allocation need to make more noise throughout the game or it will seem like an away match. |

Re: Clayton End v Derby
It’s not your thing fine
But “don’t bother the players won’t be arsed, the drums **** and Derby will be louder “ ain’t exactly the response I was looking for when I just wanted to point out it be great if the Clayton End embraced the plans we have to make Saturday special ..... |

Ban the drum and we can all get Jew's harp's

Re: Clayton End v Derby
"Let's have a beer on Saturday and we can discuss how to make the Clayton End better" is a "veiled threat"? What planet do you live on? I suggest you come out from behind your keyboard and have a drink and a chat with Jase on Saturday and maybe come up with some constructive ideas. Or are you happier just whinging?

Re: Clayton End v Derby
Bang the drum for me and Mrs.Exile, Jason. Hope everyone has a great time tomorrow whatever the result.

:) one suggestion I have is may be have a couple of mic's hanging down in the Clayton end and the songs/chant's played through the speaker system in the main stand to help make a even bigger wall of vocal support :hidewall::music8:

Re: Clayton End v Derby
Gentlemen,
Let us not allow acrimony to tarnish this unique thread, for we stand on the eve of history. The kudos we gained from winning league 2 will pale into insignificance if we can defeat Goliath tomorrow. For the first time in our long history Accrington Stanley will be in the draw for ROUND 5 OF THE FA CUP! Wave your flag, bang the drum, raise your voice. Our boys will give everything they've got. We must all do the same. Come on Stanley! History awaits. |

C'mon guys, I hate drums but I would defend the right to bang the damn things. For once lets all get together and cheer the lads with everything we have. The only person I can think of who would be against that would be the wife as the kick off is 4.30 a.m. here, guess I'll just close the door.

Re: Clayton End v Derby
I'm looking forward to the game, need to get at them early though. My grandfather was a player and he was as hard as nails. What players from Accrington are physical and will not worry about putting a few hard tackles in?
Good Luck Guys |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Game day.
Thread weren’t about the drum it was just pushing for everyone to join in with the Clayton. End display Thanks in advance |

Re: Clayton End v Derby
yes Diane, just spoke to your mum, we both the same.
Well the stage is set , the audience on their way , act 1 starts at 12.30 with a mighty cheer and then enter the stars Accrington Stanley to shock the FA cup round. Come on lads we are ALL behind you, Good Luck . |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Looking forward to the game.My grandfather was a player and a tough tackler.
He will be looking down saying "get into em lads" Have Accrington got any physical players that like a tackle? |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Great day out! Well done Jase I was very proud of the noise and colour today.
Great match too. Think we were the better side and just needed a bit of luck with a few of the shots we had that got blocked. In time honoured fashion we played better with 10 men. Hard to pick a MOTM. Conneely deserves special mention. Thought he was excellent considering his lack of games. Great having the Don back...Ipswich are mental. Sykes was colossal, Johnson must have doubled his value. Barlaser was great before his rash challenge. Thought Kee did well too. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Oh dear, just watched Coley’s interview.
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Thought every man played their part today, great performance against a goodside. seems Nugent has been gobbing off after the game, saying he hopes they get another easy tie next round what a gob****e
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
I understand Coley feeling like he does but I just think it’s unfair to have a go at Jordan and Billy.
He had every chance to say how proud he was of each and every one of them who gave their all. No need for it. Yes Coley we know you’d never miss those chances ........... |

Re: Clayton End v Derby
Gutting.
So proud of the club, staff, supporters, players and management today. We were stuck in the corner of the main stand next to the dressing roooms - fantastic show, as usual, from the Clayton End. Congrats to Jase and all who organise it Rams support played a part in providing a fantastic atmosphere. Diddled again, this time by an arrogant, show-pony of a ref- every time I see Moss he appears to be ever-more theatrical and attention-seeking. Is it the same Jon Moss who used to be in Culture Club? We thought Seamus had his best game for us for some time, but agree with his Lordship that everyone played their part, and left it all out there. Hope people feel more confident these days in Maxted too- he exudes a quiet authority and calm, and makes some good saves. Smyth only got 10 mins but looked really promising. REALLY feel for Coley - you could reach out and touch his pain. We DO need to start finding the back of the net again, though.... KTF - it's all we can do!! |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
If anyone stood out in our team of heroes, it was in my humble opinion Mark Hughes who held the back line together superbly well, kept an ageing David Nugent in his pocket, made some telling tackles and interceptions, and altogether proved yet again what an honest professional footballer he is !.
With today's game in mind, my trepidations for our League position and games yet to be played seem a little less menacing. ON STANLEY !... ON TO GREATER THINGS !!. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
We watched the game in the luxury ;) at Basingstoke Town FC and was proud of Stanley’s players and fans, who put on a fantastic show.
Thought it was a good, competitive game and that Stanley were the equal of their Championship guests. Every player deserves credit for their efforts today. Once again, however, a couple of poor decisions by the ref spoiled a fair contest. Having the benefit of slo-mo replays just why Ross Sykes was penalised for chasing back, tackling a player, and then coming away with the ball was one of the more mystifying decisions. Really feel for Professor Coleman and Jimmy Bell but just hope that, after a couple of days concentrating on the midfield options for Gillingham, they can agree with the rest of us that this year’s Cup campaign was great for the club and the fans. Well done, lads. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
To be honest mate i have no worries oer our season, as the lads will tell yeh, I have seen some good stuff this season and am sure we will be fine. Also heard that Lampard came to the Clayton End and Applauded our fans? fair play to the guy thats what i call "Class"
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Fair play to Jase and all involved, Clayton End looked superb today.
As for the game, proud but disappointed I think. Thought the whole back line looked solid, Johnson and Don in particular looked superb. As for Barlaser, thought he let himself down today, you simply CANNOT jump in like that, foul and expect to get away with it. Very poor, despite what Coley says. We just dont look threatening enough up top, as much as Billy tries he needs help. Thought it was the perfect game for a Zanzala cameo today, alas not to be. Subs again WAY too late for me, I just don't understand why leave it so late ???! We have NOTHING to lose by throwing 3 on with 20 mins to go. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
The only thing i thought wrong with today, was the Fact we were at home,in a must win game, yet played Billy up front alone, not knocking the performance which was great, but the STRUCTURE.
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Structure kept us in the game right to the end.
Shame we never got chance to see Barlaser threading balls for Smyth. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Exactly Smudgie. It was no surprise when he was booked either time.
I don’t blame the lad, these things happen, but was really disappointed in Coley’s interview. Left a bit of a sour taste especially when one of his own players (Sean) blatantly tried to con the match officials. Can he really have it both ways? No one around me was angry at the Barlaser sending off. It seemed an obvious decision. To be honest it hardly made a difference to the pattern of play thereafter. I realise the club is where it is because of Coley’s attitude, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain but I love the reputation the club has, that Stanley are everyone’s second fave team....his interview really doesn’t help that. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Great day unlucky with the result, BUT what disappointed me was Sykes taking a little kick at the Derby player on his back in the clayton end box lucky ref and liner missed it.
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Just had a peek on Derby's fans forum, some good comments on there about their match day experience. Seems most were happy & agree they were lucky to come away with the victory.
Great that we can please the away fans, in fact they were probably treated better than some of our own - don't want to go into details as I made my concerns known after the game but there are definitely lessons to be learned when we have a 'big game' at The Crown |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Not often I get to see Stanley, but I was quite impressed. Much better than the Ipswich game. Hughes, Sykes (save that little kick) and McConville impressed me the most but liked Johnson too.
Contrary to most apparently I thought the red card was harsh. But from what I have seen I don't think this is a team suited to a one forward line up. |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
My first game watching them on the tube, the lads played very well and were very unfortunate not to have a replay. Stanley had the better chances and need to find another Billy Kee to double up front. The lad who got the red was a little hard done to as the Derby player went down very soft BUT he has to give his head a shake, after the first yellow he was always on fat mans [ref] radar. I liked the late sub who scared Derby with his speed, all in all a great cup game which could easily have ended differently. Well done all concerned.
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Thank you Stanley fans for your hospitality. Your team and club are a great credit to you. The fame could have gone your way but it ran for us this time. Overall feeling of our fan is that it was a great day out but shame about your manager who showed no class in his interview. Disrespectful to the ref and dcfc.
|
Re: Clayton End v Derby
My twopence, it was even game. Stanley played well. Felt red card was probably fair two silly challenges from barlaser. He gave the referree decisions to make. Kee battled well up front winning a fair few contests. Hughes showed his usual great composure. Connelly had his best game for a long while. The new sub reminded me of a young Michael Owen. I disliked Coleman's after match comments but can't fault his passion and the change in tactics today gave us a better defensive structure. The flag display by jase and the gang was ace.

Also, I agree about Professor Coleman's comments. I do feel for him, but, there was only one person to blame for potentially spoiling the match and that was Barlaser, not the referee. As I said, despite the result, I was proud of what I saw yesterday during the live transmission and also the comments of the pundits on Match of the Day! |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
When Emirates Airline are paying to advertise at your ground, you know you've hit the big time.
Result aside, what a superb day yesterday proved for those who really matter - the fans. A veritable army of Derby fans invaded the town to discover what Accrington Stanley are all about - friendly hospitality & the best value-for-money in the football league. You couldn't find a parking spot within a mile of the ground & every local pub was 'Rammed' (get it?) full. The pre-match build up was electric with anticipation of a shock result. Should we be disappointed - NO! Our boys played there part in a game which, on another day, could have gone our way. A draw would have been a fair result. Forget the result. Yesterday was all about publicity. Of reinforcing the reputation in the hearts & minds of the football loving public of our leading position as the plucky underdog who never gives up. Judging by the positive comments from the Derby forum, we've added another legion of fans who have adopted our little club as their 'second' team. What with bumper TV rights & another packed stadium, the coffers must be overflowing at the moment. Happy days indeed. What a shame our manager spoiled the party with his unecessary (& unfounded) sour grapes after-match interview. Mr Coleman, there were 5397 people who didn't agree with you! |
Re: Clayton End v Derby
Really enjoyed the day out yesterday, proper club, everyone very friendly including the stewards (steward steward start the bounce), but especially the fan marquee, £2 a pint of real ale and an excellent band.
I thought your home end behind the goal looked great before the game, and kept the noise going throughout, we could still hear them when we were getting on the bus! We didn't really match you, although it was great to be on a proper terrace again, having no roof means all the noise gets lost. I thought you were unlucky not to at least get a replay, but that's football I guess. The only real downer on the day was the comments by your manager, I know where he's coming from with the refs, but there was no disrespect intended by our manager and coaching staff celebrating with us fans at the end (didn't you do the same when you won promotion at Woking?). Good luck for the future, hope to see you in the Championship one day. |

Well on reflection the Ref did let the game flow no doubt, but was very inconsistent in what he viewed as offenses fer sure.
