Anyone going to Morecambe?
Game has been switched to the Lancs FA ground at Leyland where we played Preston last night - something about concerns in regards to Morecambe's pitch
|
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Surely at "sensible" switch ??
Nearer for people to travel, no segregation, food and drink for all ?? Better than plan Z; behind closed doors at ????? |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Might be a sensible switch but still a late one - was just trying to spread the word
|
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Di;
No gripe with you for spreading the word; just amazed that people are unhappy as the beer in Morecambe is "much superior" than in Leyland ? I now know I'm "old";) |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
i will be happy to go back to leyland was ok last night, good surface food was expensive though. please put postcode on for us though its a different driver. lol

Morecambe aint even announced this on their site. thought it was us that was tin-pot?:D

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
If you plan a day out around two drinking sessions in Lancaster and then end up in Leyland of course you are going to be disappointed.
It would have made sense to have the OM game in Leyland though as it is closer to transport links and an actual town. Completely agree with AccyMad, it has very little to do with the football, and also been looking forward to it since May. If they had moved it to Lancaster then great, but the county ground is soulless and Leyland aint great for daytime drinking. |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
aye well drink is obviously more important to some.

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
shame for those making a day/weekend out of it.
booked train and hotels already. RE comments about drinking 'culture' - I for one prefer to enjoy a day out on an away day rather than turning up at 2.30pm, leaving by 5pm. interesting that no segregation - hoping that's not ruined by idiots. |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Josh;
I noticed you were at the LFA on Tuesday night; Highest gate at Leyland in the last 7 years with no segregation. I would think that any "idiots" Morecambe have remain at home as they are too young to drive!! I'm sure the town of Leyland will welcome some additional day trippers |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Has anyone heard anything about what time the osc coaches are setting off now, I'm presuming they might be leaving a little later now? Asking for my Mum as she hasn't got access to the internet

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
I cant understand ANYONE disagreeing with the day out being of paramount importance. If we just wanted to watch the football and going home i for one would rather watch a game.on telly and save fiftt quid!
The day out is part of the matchday experience and anyone who doesnt agree should tell Andy to cancel the brass bands and tents - theyre not needed. For some that might mean sightseeing, for others it might be seeing if "their Asda is better than ours". For others its a damn good sesh round town. My drinking days are gone so im not arsed but a trip round Morecambe or some back street Leyland spit n sawdust gaffes ... hmm |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Well said Spartacus.
I coulden't give two hoots about drinking, but I know id rather have a walk around Morecambe sea front eating fish n chips than another soulless trip to Leyland. Quite how Mr T doesn't see that in his eternal wisdom is mind-boggling, though not surprising. |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
i would prefer to walk round Morecambe, but aint bothered in the slightest, Leyland have a decent pitch, plus its nearer, so its a case of pluses @ minuses to me.

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Very disappointing for us not to have had a home pre-season friendly.
I think John O'Sullivan and Adam Buxton will make appearances at some stage of the match. |

Short term sacrifices for long term gains, for both clubs regarding the pitches.
|
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Finished 2 nil to Stanley, goals from Bishop & Super Sean - can always trust Morecambe to deliver us the win :)
|
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Not a good first half second half much better, deserved win though morecambe i thought should took lead but missed the spot kick. Thought Ross and callum were superb, there was players on the pitch second half no idea who? cos their numbers not on the team sheet, whats that all about? the trialist10 had a decent game with one error only,
|
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Not a great spectacle but hopefully a win will help in some way.
Full of idiot Blackburn fans in the train singing about past glories and displaying general idiocy singing about another east lancs team who are well above them. |

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Have to agree with Cashy's summary.
It was all Morecambe for the first 15 minutes, with some slick one-touch passing. We looked like a team of strangers for most of the first half, the exception being trialist no.10 who slowly began to dominate the midfield. Very impressed. The Shrimps started the second half on fire & when they won the penalty, I thought we were in for an embarrassing afternoon. It wasn't until the subs appeared that we began to dominate play - the more changes we made, the better we got. Two well worked classy goals made all the difference & by the end of the game, the tables had turned & we looked more like a L1 side. Respect to Morecambe who gave a spirited performance. Good luck to them for the coming season. Some of the new faces looked promising. Let's hope Professor Coleman can turn that promise into a winning formula. |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
must admit I have to disagree about number 10, apart from his ability to control seemingly every ball with his chest, I thought his passing was poor and his positional play awful.
funny how people watching the same player at the same game see things differently - guess that’s why we all love the game, be boring if we all thought the same ‘eyy! Johnson has been superb these last few games, is he stepping it up the same way as Big Ben did knowing he’s got a move ahead?? I love clicker as a footballer and a person; but he really needs to work on his finishing and left foot. If he could play on the left, I’ve no doubt he would do as Sean does we superbly and cut in and finish on his right foot. Won’t moan at him too much about missing from a few yards as think the defender did well to use his strength to nudge him wide..... Plus at half time Pritchard managed to put a ball over from a yard out....with no keeper....or defenders haha! on Pritchard, I do like the look of him and think he could be a really good midfielder for us, bit of flair but knows how to win the ball back. Also starting to really like the look of Maguire.. Bishop could be an absolute cult hero at the club (and he’s worn 29 before......). Only negative is Sam in the middle. Been sloppy last few games. I still don’t see him as an attacking midfielder - feel he would do much better as a holding midfielder like Seamus. Only loanees I could really see us needing is a keeper and 2 strikers. Zanzala torn hamstring I believe so out for numerous weeks. |

Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Saturday’s Number 10 definitely has something about him, but his first thoughts were to take the easy route and pass back which he did on most occasions. If he could be encouraged to play forward, then he could be worth a contract.

But, as I have noted elsewhere, that seems to be the first thought that enters the mind of some on the forum who seek not to make rational and acceptable comments but attempt to show attitudes which do little but show disrespect to other users. Don't you just pine a little for earlier times of our Forum ?..when the business surrounding our club and its team were of paramount importance to those Lads and at least two Lasses providing news, opinions, and the occasional bit of nonsense to interest us all !. Look forward to seeing you soon !. ON STANLEY !.. ON TO GREATER THINGS !!. |
Re: Anyone going to Morecambe?
Yonmon, i would have thought that, as one of our most erudite menbers, you would have realised that there was no negative connotation behind MY postings.
My opening gambit was in retort to suggestions that the day out or surroundings were unimportant. Bernard replied how he did and i replied further to demonstrate that as the result of the game doesnt spoil ones weekend then perhaps ingredients other than 'the team' were what made the day. All as a result of the game being moved from Morecambe to Leyland. In ever so slight mitigation, perhaps i was a gnats wotsit more blunt than usual, as comments were also made on a facebook which suggested the fans were unimportant for friendlies So, to Bernard, if you thought I was having a go then I apologise - I wasnt |
