Dale match thread

Same ref as the away fixture! Let’s hope it’s a different outcome.
Come on, Stanley, a good result will keep KJ drunk for another day.;)

with Dale carrying a few knocks reportedly and a tv cup tie v Newcastle in a few days, maybe a resurgent Stanley will not be to their taste today. Shots on target could do wonders for our goal diff - looking for a 'wynonie' .

Don't bag yourself LLS, your preview was a fair indication of how the game could play out.

19 fouls and 2 yellows for Stanley, 6 fouls against Rochdale.
Are there ref rants on the way, I wonder?

Afraid not exile, we where fortunate to have 11 men on pitch. Barclay's second foul was a clear yellow but I appreciate the sensible refereeing not sending him off and the sensible substitution. I think we missed Barclay combative midfield play when he went off. Rochdale got a grip of the midfield and where dangerous on the counter attack.
Throughout the game we huffed and puffed with not making too many clear Chances and when we did until late on we fluffed are lines. First half was even for me but Henderson showed his class against us again to put them in front. Second half I though Rochdale controlled it quite well but credit our team for keeping battling which for the forced the closer finish.
Zanzala won a bit and held play up front quite well today. Dion is looking a player both in work rate and link up play. Our dale whodo continues... At least the league position and points gives a good place to at the very least ensure another season in league one and who knows maybe a Wembley appearance...

Rochdale had a game plan and we just fell into their arms.
Too sloppy, gave the ball away too easily and we were far, far too sluggish in possession.
Why we played hoof ball all afternoon I will never know.
Bursik and Charles only 2 who started who had a decent game.
Pritchard only one who looked like he wanted the ball when he came on.
Opoku extremely poor I thought, not his usual self and too often thought he could simply use his size to walk through the opposition.
Don’t think we won a single second ball.
Every bounce, 50/50 ball seemed to go to a Rochdale player.
Hope Bishop is back sharpish, and SM injury not as bad as first feared.

Only 2 strikers in match day 18. Assuming Simpson has gone back to Preston as he was dire.
Barker-Richardson still out.
Need to make this January a good‘un in the transfer market.

we lost today i think cos most of our shots were conversions, a mile oer the top. we were quite abysmal consistent though as it was for all 90 mins. i console myself with fact Rochdale are our Bogy side.

Was there enough squad rotation from coley today?
Team looked jadded, shooting confirmed the general fatigue in the starting 11

Re: Dale match thread

could understand starting with the team that wiped the floor with Burton, thought Barclay was daft with that second tackle just after being (harshly) booked i thought for the first one, he was very fortunate to stay on, dont think j.c. had much choice taking him off, dont think that helped our cause today.?also thought we were dumb keep pumping high balls in dales box, cos the keeper was a big lad and pretty good in the air.

Re: Dale match thread

Although Dale seemed to be quicker and more accurate with their passes I still thought that we were in with a chance until McConville was injured and had to be subbed, after that I couldn't see anyone managing to score although Zanzala eventually did.

Re: Dale match thread

Agree that the team look jaded an tired today. Also Rochdale looked a side that certainly wernt struggling with confidence although results would suggest otherwise. McConville going off was a massive blow considering the form he’s been in. Pritchard am sorry to say doesn’t really offer much. Dion an Zanzalar worked hard without any real end product and Barclay looked like he was struggling with an injury or fatigue. We need to dust ourselves down an get ready for Ipswich after a much needed break.

Simpson and Richardson both on season long loans decisions need to be made about the pair because neither of them have contributed to the squad which looked tired yesterday, rumours amok yesterday as per usual on a window opening but IMHO we definitely need a striker inbound.

to be honest think an attacking midfielder is the main priority.

Josh March - young striker at Leamington Spa....
Forest Green Rovers have made a reported 25k bid for him....
Coley has been to watch him

Sam looked like he needed a good rest Barclay was lucky to stay on the pitch following his extremely late tackles, and as for the totally incompetent and useless display from the one who came on as substitute, the least said the better !

So Cashy, perhaps acquisition of any midfield player whatsoever does appear to carry some priority at this time..

ON STANLEY ON ,.. FORGET ROCHDALE AND MOVE ON TO GREATER THINGS !

If only Jimmy Ryan was available - he had a good game yesterday, damn him!

Re: Dale match thread

very little movement yesterday compared to the energetic display v Burton... worst performance i can remember for a while.
Sykes deserved MOTM, Pritchard impressed and that was about it.
An idiot chucked a lighter at their keeper.... always one eh?

Have to agree sluggish and slow in the pass looked jaded fell for Rochdale's wind up tactics as for man of the match it's done for corporate reasons personally thought Jimmy Ryan one of my favourite ex Stanley players was the man run the show in midfield.

to be honest we were pretty dire, though couldnt blame keeper for anything imho.
