Trotters Match Thread

Man in the Middle
Saturday’s match will be officiated by Josh Smith. He will be assisted by David Plowright and Stephen Wade with Billy Smallwood appointed as the fourth official.
Smith has officiated 24 matches this season, with the most recent being Newport County’s 2-1 home victory against Bradford City in Sky Bet League Two last weekend.
So far this campaign he has handed out 78 yellow cards (3.25 per game) and six red cards (0.25 per game).

Clicker so unlucky two great efforts and equally great saves.
Much better second half and dare I suggest after Grant’s substitution.

The contrast between the static Grant with his awful first touch, and the skilful, live wire Charles was huge. We were a different team once he came on.

Clark was MOTM, Sykes excellent too....thought Sam was very poor for an hour then did well. Callum never got one cross in all match.

Some complete arses in our end today. Pleased to see them kicked out....nothing wrong with standing up providing you don’t go and plonk yourself in front of some elderly folk after kick off, stand up and then tell em to F off when they were asked to sit down. Loathesome.

Re: Trotters Match Thread

Not the most exciting game, Bolton dominated first 30 minutes. Bursik made crucial saves, we grew into the game and made it a even feeling second half with the reds in this period having the best shots on goal. Sykes and Rodgers stood up well today. Maguire steady also. Second half, Clark started causing problems for the trotters. And subs Benny and Dion had a positive impact on game.
Reality check though! sat inside an impressive stadium of an ex premier League side whom we have beaten twice and drawn with this season. We have also gained another point towards safety.

Clicker best player by far today.... only emphasised that he is too good for league one!

Re: Trotters Match Thread

Totally agree, Lord D with your comments re the players!

Didn’t see the incidents alluded to in third paragraph, however, I did see one young chap being escorted out at half time... only looked about 15/16.... but, looked totally “out if it”..

Please can we not ask all supporters to “self-police”, & ensure that these young idiots do not bring shame on our club? The number of stewards, at our end, seemed to almost outnumber those in the remainder of the stadium... plus, mounted police as we came out...
Hopefully, we are not gaining an undeserved reputation?

What a contrast in terms of hospitality. We roll out the red carpet to welcome their fans at our place, yet we get refused entry into two pub/restaurants before the game even though there were three “seniors” in our party. Then we were searched before entering the ground! Ah well, there’s a first time for everything!

Some fantastic saves by Bursik & superb blocks by Callum kept us in the match first half, tbo I thought we offered little up front and were lucky to came away with a point so no complaints

There's not many who welcome away fans as well as we do, for instance at Coventry last season the stewards asked my mum who is in her 80's to open her flask of coffee & they sniffed it, they also asked me to remove my woolly Stanley hat & searched it - we must've looked dodgy :rolleyes:

From a Bolton forum : “He was quality that Jordan Clark, never heard of him but one of the best individual displays against us at Macron in this terrible league.”

think it could be a case where certain clubs who have slipped down the leagues still carry out checks on away fans like they did years before and have not changed their outlook to them. stanley at home or manchester clubs at home are different animals behaviour and in numbers wise and should not be treat the same.

After yesterday's well earned point I still think 51 points is the real safety target 10 games left 3 wins and a couple of draws is not beyond Stanley starting with a win Saturday.

Away fans are searched at Stanley. Have been for a while.

I’d be absolutely shocked if 50 points went down! I think 42/43 points is needed this season.

Derek;

No idea I'll make enquires tomorrow.

We were in a big club's ground yesterday, so "big club's rules" apply.

Could have been for a few things from my view;

Was everybody sat in the correct seat? Were gangways being blocked, was there "persistant standing? Can't answer the first one, but from my view yes to 2 and 3.

Also there could have been an H & S inspection with the safety team being put under pressure to enforce rules and regs :mad:

i never sat down all game mark, the row in front was three deep

Did the H&S inspection not include the Bolton fans standing the whole game.

Had quite a good day at Bolton apart from the game itself, four of us went too a Bolton fans home where we were made welcome by his wife and son, then we were escorted to his "MAN SHED" and served hot dogs, beer, or coffee. Then we spent 90mins watching a poor game, and then back too the "MAN SHED" more beer waiting for the traffic to go then made or way home. Thank's Garath the Bolton fan.

Re: Trotters Match Thread

Anyone know why the first two were kicked out? As I said yesterday they were horribly abusive to the couple sat behind them, but that was much earlier in the half and not grounds enough to be kicked out. Looked like it may have been some other accy fans nearer the front that somehow got involved in a complaint, judging by some conversation with stewards that was going on the same time, but I might be jumping to the wrong conclusion there.

Me and we indoors went to Tesco after the match, came out and the two that had been ejected plus a couple of others came round the corner singing and swigging beer. I assume they thought we were Bolton fans as they were a little intimidating as they approached us. Nothing too scary, but hardly giving a good impression.

There seemed to be loads of fans there yesterday I didn’t recognise.
