Shrewsbury better side first half. We haven't made any clear chances that I can remember from open play. Must do better second half....

andyd 02-12-2020 19:38

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

Not a great first half from Stanley apart from the goal that the keeper fluffed we haven't looked good up front, need to come out second half and stop giving the ball away. Shrewsbury unfortunately have looked better than us upfront.

Crown Grounder 02-12-2020 19:48

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

Just seen iFollow stats.....we've had 4 shots on target to their 1.....and their keeper has made 4 saves.....so I must have fallen asleep when that happened? Must stay awake 2nd half!!

I will take that as we didn't deserve anything really outplayed for most of second half but it was a penalty and we should have had one earlier.

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

Think we made Shrewsbury look better than they were who said fans don't make a difference not much quality on show from either side no coincidence all four goals from set pieces.

MikeA 02-12-2020 21:09

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

From the Radio Shropshire post-match phone in:

'The referee was dying to give them a penalty'
'Shrewsbury are a top six club'
'We were robbed'

I'd agree that the Shrews are better than their league position.

only scored 16 goals in 12 league games - worrying. Extremely lucky tonight - Burgess for me our top man. Bit of a shake up perhaps needed with an injection of pace - tonight couldnt pass for toffee and don't recall us getting in behind. Re-action needed saturday lads.

The old adage is you don't change a winning side unless forced by injury but for me Russell has just had 3 poor games on the trot, can't begin to worry to much we are doing well but I have said from the outset our weak link is upfront and could come back to bite us in the proverbial.

Well, for my two penn'orth I feel like we won 2 - 2 last night! To play as we apparently did & come away with a point is always welcome when away from home but our second goal going in so so late definitely made it feel like a victory to me

we have especially away from home played much better than that and returned home with nothing. they always say that the sign of a good team is getting something from games when you are having an off day. a draw always feels better for some reason when you score the final goal.

andyd 03-12-2020 09:56

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

We will have to be much better Saturday against the plastic Dons lost only 1 in last 7 league games and that was against top team Hull, have to create more and especially Charles stop overdoing it and keep it simple goals are proving hard to get from open play.

thing is though Lincoln have played 2 games more and only scored 2 goals more so i dont read that much in the fact we aint scoring loads,

Yes Seamus would get my vote last night in a game that we struggled to get any yardage, good point gained in an under performing effort Seamus only one really who put is usual shift in, but signs of never give up as the 95th minute equaliser proved.

Did not watch the iFollow last night, but just seen highlights on F.L. Show....

Do not understand the crowd in the ground?

I cannot believe for one minute that all of those people were all in their respective 'bubbles' (hate that word/saying!!!)

Most of what I saw was plenty of people stood next to plenty of other people???

Might just have been the clips shown, but does not fill me with any confidence at all and the crowd was small????

Have to agree I'm afraid, still think it's a tad unfair having some clubs with fans and others potentially apart from vaccines possibly changing things could be locked out at some clubs till Easter vastly unfair.

Re: Shrewsbury Thread

A quick mention for Harvey Rodgers who just as guilty as most has loose in passing did two things that went a long way in gaining us a point excellent clearance of the line and an excellent defencive header under pressure stopping certainly a clear header on target from their man well played Harvey another very underated player in our squad.

think he has made the majority of fans start to realize how important he is in the side. stanley always look a better compact side with him playing. when he is out we have looked like a team lost akin to a ship floundering in heavy seas. its a team game not just 11 individuals on a pitch doing their own thing.

even if we had home fans only i for one would count myself out. after reading all the do,s and don,ts of attending they would not get me within a mile of the wham. heard of a charlton fan winning his ballot of attending the game and having to sit in his seat 1 hour 45 minutes before k o the other night.

Imagine that at the Wham in winter at minus 2 or 3 degree,s having to listen to very loud music would probably get hyperthermia related hearing loss.

Having just read the Charlton forum majority of the posts of those that attended are not very positive a lot saying they aren't bothering putting themselves in the ballot for future games, prefer to wait until normality. Interesting comment from a spectacle wearing supporter who said it was virtually impossible to see through constantly misted up glasses due to mask wearing that's another reason for me to not bother.

I too can't wait but age underlying health conditions it would be a tad risky and I suggest anyone else in a similar position to be careful but yes great for anyone else and hope you find it is great, just need to drop down a tier though.

Can't imagine anything will be different on the Clayton End when (if) the Wham reopens. And wouldn't fancy being a steward trying to make it different either :(

not sure if i have underlying health conditions but i probably would have them sitting or even worse standing at the wham 4 hours for a football match of under 2 hours duration. if that was the norm anyway i would not have been a football fan in the first place.
