Well with 75% of games to be played before PPG can be used can see either short break or season voided happening nowt no surer.

There are after today 133 days left to official end of season after today's postponement Stanley have 30 league games to fit in and a possible 5 cup games. To fit all 35 in if still in cup that's a game every 3.8 days reaching a decisive point for EFL to make a decision.

Playing twice a week is more than doable, but I do not think I am the only one to think that more games could be called off.......... :(

Would not want to see anything voided, as that would mean so many things lost, like goals, appearances, Etc. (I think??)

Will have to just wait and see....

Would think that Rochdale v Crewe could be in doubt Tuesday if that goes that will be six out of twelve again.

Fleetwood v Doncaster must also be in doubt that could be seven.

I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere but can't find it. I can't help thinking that clubs and players do themselves no favours by huddling together before kick off, hugging and shaking hands when goals are scored and offering congratulations at the end of games. Surely there needs to be some restraint shown?

It is not surprising that the virus transmits between the players! Watching televised matches at all levels the players are still jumping all over each other, hugging and shaking hands, as are the coaches and other staff at the end of matches. If we did that on the streets and in the shops we would get fined! Whilst football and rugby are rightfully classed as contact sports most of the actual contact really happens in the ‘celebrations’ of scoring goals or points! Much tighter control is needed if teams are to reduce the incidence of cross infection. I haven’t hugged my two daughters or my two grandsons for nine months now! Surely the players can exercise some control and reduce the risks!

Yet Rotherham want their game off against Barnsley tomorrow as they have 5 players positive 3 in isolation, 1 more showing symptoms, 5 players injured and a member of staff positive. The EFL have threatened them with the loss of the 3 points if they don't play, does anyone including those in charge know the rules it's a game of football for God,s sake.

Doncaster Fleetwood game off that's 7 out of 12 in league 1 tomorrow must only be a week off running out of spare weeks to fit fixtures in league 1 in before scheduled end of season surely some kind of decision will be announced soon on the way forward. This Covid crap ain't going away it will probably be around like the flu every year until the vaccines are rolled out to hopefully send it packing and under control everything including football is chaotic.

Andyd....you are right about the ongoing problems with covid affecting every aspect of life and not just football. Unfortunately there is no easy solution and that includes vaccines. The virus has already proved that it can mutate and we will need new vaccines next year and in future tears as new strains of covid develop. I think its with us for many years to come in some shape or form. Will we ever get it under control?........ As for a decision from the EFL. I don't expect anything until May at the earliest.....but hey....what do I know!

just wonder if there are any guidelines never mind rules that clubs have to follow. one minute games ore off for 2 infections then you get this rotherham situation. its typical that league 1 seems the worst affected league for some reason or other. got to blame steve evans and his showty mate in spreading it to other clubs.

Andy - I don't think that is accurate.
Everyone at Rotherham went into isolation and are now clear.
They have one test result outstanding.
EFL medical staff can liaise with counterparts at a club, but only a club can decide whether it wishes to call a game off on medical grounds.
With respect one pending test result should not result in a cancellation.
Tell the lad concerned to stay at home.
Injuries are irrelevent.
I think their squad can cope with one missing for covid reasons...........
Game on enough said.

Wasn't what Paul Warne publicly said, and just today a bit of common sense by the club doctor at Rochdale who is a GP and worked on the Covid front as said he really questions wether football is wise to continue in the current outbreak, players being asked to travel in and out of tier 4:areas without regular testing. He says some players are worried about picking the virus up and passing it among their kids, partners or elderly relatives, why should footballers be any different from others. Game on lives put at risk?

Re: Doncaster match off

Been a big government meeting this afternoon new tier announcement,s tomorrow at about 3 should I imagine be most of country in tier 4 or even worse, Premiership reports 18 positive cases worst since testing began to me at league's 1 and 2 level and below the best scenario would especially with the bad weather as well forecast a break for as long as the strongest tiers are in place.

I think what Warney has said is very accurate if you read what has been published on BBC site.

Doesn't mention on BBC site anything about in Rotherham,s case the EFL said to the club and Warne that nine days isolation was " medically " ok instead of the 10 days for every other club, so whatever players that affected were suddenly eligible to play appears that the EFL are playing at being God now, maybe next club they choose to pick on they,ll reduce it to what 8, 7, take your pick.
