The Oxford match thread.

Well Mrs Mad, its like this; I figure that as we are losing with out any threads started by me, perhaps its time to kick one off? - can't get any worse..(reverse kama etc..) . Unlikely for me to be able to get up at 3AM for this one , as its a working day here and I need my beauty sleep (desperately). C'mon you Reds, give us all something to buzz about.:alright:

I don’t suppose there’s any chance that Kettle is the liner on the near side?
Whoever it is, can someone find his glasses.

Re: The Oxford match thread.

Unbelievably shocking refereeing! The Assistant Referee must be cited for incompetence if he was so far out of position not to see how far the ball was over the line. Lots of wrong decisions on throw ins and free kicks too. On the balance of play we could be winning 3-0!

cashman 05-04-2021 14:55

Re: The Oxford match thread.

That Ref makes Kettle look not bad. hes utter sheite.

Exile on Spencer St 05-04-2021 15:03

Re: The Oxford match thread.

I don’t think the ref’s been that bad, but the linesman has been appalling. What’s worrying is that he’ll be running Oxford’s attack, so I just hope Stanley don’t assume they’ll get any offsides.
But Stanley have been excellent thus far, except for the defenders ball watching and not marking for their goal.

Re: The Oxford match thread.

Brilliant effort from Stanley, good game to watch.
But I take it all back - the ref was crap but, for once, we were not ‘kettled’ out of the points.

Re: The Oxford match thread.

Best game to watch for a while it had a bit of everything controversy, plenty of twists and turns but Stanley deserving winners much better with the width that both excellent Rodgers and Maguire provided but man of match for me by a country mile Paul Smyth covered every inch of grass today capped by a goal possibly his best display in a Stanley shirt.

Have to agree with you Andy ( now there’s a surprise! )..
I lost count of how many times he was fouled ( with no response from a poor Referee ! ) but his response was positive every time , and he didn’t seem to approve of being substituted !.
The team performance was better. One question ... are the play-offs really beyond the Reds ? .. Hmmmmmmm ?.

also thought young savin was as well. yonmon playoffs are not gonna be in my view, no-way can we compete with squads of the so called big clubs.

More importantly out of the bottom 6 only Wimbledon could mathematicaly get more than 57 points so league 1 football confirmed for next season unless Hmmmmmmmm?

Re: The Oxford match thread.

A super result for Stanley today 2-1 at Oxford!:theband:
Based on a really good all round team performance by the boys in WHITE! Come on ....errr ..you Reds! Probably deserved to win by a three goal margin really.
I agree with earlier comments that Maguire was super today as was Smith and Bishop who both worked so hard all over the pitch. The defence looked solid again with our back four set up and with Seamus just in front. Toby Savin had a really good game making saves when needed.
:alright::jimbo:
Regarding the referee today and more importantly the assistant refereeing......had we lost 2-1, I can’t help thinking what the comments would have been like on here! :joint::stop::bingobang
To stay on the positive though what a transformation and we can look forward to a positive closing period of a very strange season.:theband:
ON STANLEY ON:theband:
KEEP THE FAITH

This sunshine is getting to my head.... not only am I agreeing with Andy....
Cashy! You’re right. Savin was superb. Caught everything in the air and clung on to it.
Confidence hopefully returning, with no Yosser. Make of that what you will.

Well done Stanley.

Only game I've not seen due to 'technical' issues. (Thanks Mr I Player).

In my head we battered them so don't anybody say different.

Re: The Oxford match thread.

Well, having watched the highlights on Quest tonight, how the effing 'ell did they not see the ball across the line for Dion's goal. Judging by the comments on the thread, maybe we should ask for these incompetent fools every week, because, by the sounds of it, they gave Oxford even less. Took one for the team today and knowcked meself off top spot in the Guess the score league. but I'll be back, or at least try to be.

Actually Northampton can't catch us so we are safe but lets go for broke and make the playoffs.

Re: The Oxford match thread.

never saw that result coming to be honest. oxford has not been a happy hunting ground in the past. after the goal was not given i feared the worst. as for the play offs, well stanley have has late runs before so its certainly not out of the question at the moment. just need to build on the oxford game on saturday against a side fighting for their lives. a decent win would give the team more confidence in the games coming up. a defeat would show just how irratic the side are.
