Re: Sunderland away thread
Three at the back....disastrous!
McConville getting in Burgess’ way for first goal and then allowed the cross! Second goal Barclay backed off and Rogers being made to play too far forward could not get back to stop the cross. Well overdue to give up on three at the back. Play a flat four please with Rogers playing as a true right back. |

Going to be a long afternoon !!... TWO NIL after 11 minutes !

Let’s have more of these cameos to liven up the day !..:alright: |
Re: Sunderland away thread
That should have been 3 Mcgeady is quality could teach our forwards how to control and use the ball.
|
Re: Sunderland away thread
Throw caution to the wind Stanley second half nothing to lose everything to gain we need to be better with any chances but we just don't look like scoring from open play.
|
Re: Sunderland away thread
The linesman on the near side must be blinded by the shade:rolleyes:.
Every time the keeper is at least a yard outside the box when he kicks out of his hands, and how was that not a deliberate back pass? But Sunderland’s forwards are a class above our defenders. |
Re: Sunderland away thread

Re: Sunderland away thread
i never thought we played bad first half, sunderland played a bit better.was a great result from 2 down also.

Re: Sunderland away thread
Stanley did well to get a deserved point after a poor start. Harvey Rogers played more as a standard right back in the second half and helped to stop Sunderland from whipping their dangerous crosses in from the wings!
The Stanley boys worked so hard in the second half though covering every inch of the pitch. The third for Sunderland was unlucky as one of our boys miscontrolled the ball on the edge of their penalty box which allowed them to break down the middle of the pitch outnumbering us four to two! When we were awarded that free kick late on I said to myself.......”Sean, classic top left hand corner!” It could be seen from his body language as he carefully placed the ball and set up his short run up that he was confident of scoring! Sean duly carried out his routine perfectly for a wonderful trademark set piece goal!:theband::jimbo::mosher::jimbo: It didn’t look too good after those first two goals were conceded but after that Stanley were excellent. Blunderland will be ‘pig sick’ this evening, which just happens to make me pretty happy!:rofl38::rofl38::rofl38: Feels a bit like ‘A Win’ .....so the beer will taste good tonight!:signbeer::drink::drink::drink::rose8: ON STANLEY ON:theband::mosher: KEEP THE FAITH:wave8::rose8: |

Re: Sunderland away thread
Great game to watch had a bit of everything once we got our shape right we started to boss the game some good performance,s Sean, Colby and Phillips starting to show what a good player he is don't know his contract situation at Burnley but if still their hopefully they will loan him again to us some of his vision and passing was sublime today made all the difference to our forward play.

Re: Sunderland away thread
Just needs to work on the end product. Got into advanced positions, did the hard work but finishing not there.
|
Re: Sunderland away thread
i always thought finishing was hard work many players aint good at it?

He makes really good runs and finds great positions around the box but often never troubles the keeper ....... start at least hitting the target and goals will come. |
Re: Sunderland away thread
When Adam Philips first came into the team he seemed to over hit many crosses and corners, some quite wildly. Now he seems to have settled in, that part of his game is much improved and he’s shown what he can do in the last couple of games (coincidentally, just as Matt Butcher’s form seems to have dipped, which is worrying).
But he certainly needs a bit of practice on his finishing. Mind you, if he could finish as well, he might be recalled by Burnley! |

s.hink everyone has said it all really. only thing i can add is i thought at one point doing the new leaving early, switching the stream off as i thought another hammering might have been on the cards. just glad i didn,t. must be one of the best drawn games i,ve ever seen. thanks sean and the others.
