Well that seems to be quicker than usual???

Feel for Joe Maguire and Regan Ogle :(

17 players, plus 4 offered, so we have 21 so far - hopefully.

:) :) :)

I was thinking the same Joe......
Maguire waited very patiently all season for his chance. When a run of injuries came along he got a run of several matches and I thought that he played quite well.
I have not seen much of Ogle but what I saw was a lad with some potential.
The others released I expected.
It would be great if we could get some of this seasons loan players back again next season, either on loan again or better still signed on permanently: Baxter, Smyth and Phillips for sure and possibly Cassidy.
Good luck to those players released and I sincerely hope that they can all find clubs soon.

Re: Retained list 2021/22

If I could have one, it would be Baxter - he is a great keeper (sorry Toby)

If I could have two, the other would be Smyth :)

Let us wait and see :)

:) :) :)

however
you cannot keep everyone. maguire quite average and ogle seems to have been at stanley for years and never broken through into the first team.

Football is a ruthless profession at times but Coley is paid to do a job one of which is head of recruitment and letting players go these players all know the score it goes with the job personally apart from Bolton who I haven't seen enough of I think he,s got it spot on. These lads wouldn't get any playing time so it's a chance for them to find a future in football elsewhere.

Re: Retained list 2021/22

Gutted for Zehn. Worked his socks off when out on loan, worked tirelessly in the gym, saw alot of what Ross Sykes did in him. Be hard to find a more genuine, nicer guy in football.

No surprises with Joe or Regan in my view. Jack Bolton is a strange one as Coley spoke very highly of him coming through, similar to Dan Martin whose been kept on.

Hope Ben & Harvey accept new deals.

Sama having anothing year on his contract. Eek.

Haven't seen anything regarding them signing the contract,s on offer so you are presumably correct.

Stockport interested in Ben Barclay so that's who won't be signing if he goes.

mmmm ? thought Ben came on last season but if interested in dropping a couple of divs, then suggests his personal ambition not what Stanley need to succeed. Nothing wrong with being content at a lower level provided he earns his corn and good luck to the lad if this supposed scenario holds water.

I suspect that with Sykes returning and the few midfield signings coming in that he saw himself as a squad player not a starter.
Stockport nearer home, allegedly more money and a starting 11 berth.
His call but I can't find any reason not to go.

Have we really got a squad of 34 players now? Including those only expected to play at Under 23 level this sounds like a somewhat large squad.:idunno:

I understood the U23 team are to play more regularly this season.
So that’s 11 + 5 subs x 2 squads makes….32, and a couple more for good luck.

Sounds like a lot, but it is X2 squads, plus Coley has always had numbers, he cannot work any other way, which is strange, as he only uses 15....

Barclay was announced on Twitter he had left and signed for Stockport.
Maybe he didn't go about it the best way....

Jack Nolan joins us this afternoon only 20 years old so not sure which squad he will be in but that's 36 players now.

Plus - or is it minus - injuries and suspensions = we desperately need more players by Christmas
