It is sad to see him go but if he really thinks that the time is right for him to leave then we have to accept that and wish him well and give him a massive thank you for his time with us.

He's been a great servant to the club but I wonder if he would have got a place in the starting eleven next year ahead of Nottingham, Burgess and Sykes. Wish him well wherever he goes.

Good luck to him, he’s been a great player for Stanley.

He’s signed for Brizzle, MH, along with Sam Finlay and two other

He’s playing “somewhere fairly local” to Revived Red, if that helps?

We will miss his calm, mopping up presence at the back. I was impressed how he stepped when we went from league 2 to league 1 and if anything improved.
It may well be the right time for both parties the move as it has been pointed out we are blessed with 3/4 decent centre backs (if you include Barclay after his performances this year) hopefully one of them can be as assured at mopping up and calm on the ball. They will certainly have more pace. Anyway farewell to a Stanley legend.

the words club legends seem to be thrown around nowadays for almost any player who fulfils their contracts and have a few decent games. for me mark hughes is one of those who is a proper old time legend where being discribed as one meant something.

Spot on in his five years here hardly missed a game probably on average our best player over that period.

Along with Baxter, Barclay, Phillips, Burgess.....and those still here but not available...............Pritchard, Butcher.........and of course Charles.......all are massive misses for us. The last game of the season against Pompey was one our best starting line-ups with talent in abundance and a proper balance........

I have asked myself this question why did Philips choose Morecambe over us it isn't game time often on the bench or did he not enjoy it here.

Re: All the best Yozzer

Maybe he enjoyed his time with MFC rather than at Stanley and when given the chance to return it was an easy decision to make. Also down to being wanted by a manager....
