Rotherham away EFL carabo cup match thread.

Do we take this competition seriously I would think so but it's a difficult away tie and with current debate about defending does Coley experiment with the back line or stick with the same starting 11, maybe tweak the formation. Personally I don't think Ross is comfortable in a back 3 he is more a old fashioned type center half and looks a better player in a back 4 thought,s please.

to me Ross is far better a number5

Agree Ross - and the team - are better in a 4!

This is the League Cup, so it is serious and we should treat is so... :)

Get as far as we can and get as much £££ as we can................... :)

:) :) :)

Maybe we should try the diamond midfield formation think we dabbled with it once but in layman's terms it's a 4-1-2-1-2 shape or even a 4-2-3-1 system.

Without a left back reverting to a back four is always a problem.
Now this isn't a negative comment just an observation.

Isn't this left back issue a recurring theme over a few seasons now ??
Nearest for me we got to resolving it was Nick Anderton.

Personally don't think we have had a decent left back since Joe Jacobson.

How about Burgess at LB.

I may be wrong but I think there will be at least 4 changes.....or as many as the cup allows. Whether fans view that as a weakened team is a matter of opinion.

sensible thing to do the first week of the season. imagine the millers will do exactly the same. on paper its the hardest draw we could have had for me. if stanley win it will be a great result but if they lose i wont be that upset about it.

That's a make do fix mate. He isn't a left back and reinforces the point. We should be signing a left back not creating one.

Surely this is one of the slots Coley keeps mentioning.

yes, but we seem to be doing this every single season. is there a lack of players around in this position at stanleys level.

Great result apart from what sounds like a great free kick from them we bossed the game, sounds like everyone had a decent game but to me Harvey Rodgers in the side gives a better balance one defensive wing back and the other attack minded.

It certainly didn't at Wycombe. One had only to see the despairing look on Michael Nottingham's face to know what he thought.

On the backfoot for most of second half. Got stuck in tho.

our first 2 games were teams that played at Championship level last season so to me away win one lose one is a fair result well done lads onwards and upwards.

I see. Always good when you get to see a game in that way. Is Rotherham one of the teams you support......if you live locally? It always surprises me the number of Stanley fans who don't live in or around Accrington. It shouldn't......as I was born and bred in Accrington I now live about 10 miles away in Heapey, which is near Chorley. Will you get to Accrington for either of the next 2 home games?

think this happens at most clubs nowadays and not just glory hunting premier league fans. i live 26 miles away. my lad lives 110 miles away from his team, non league stockport county. the days of supporting your town club just because of that is long gone. bradford city are my nearest league club so for them its thanks but no thanks.

Yes - but Tuesday more likely than Saturday due to work committments.

No not at all. Got to confess Seamus being out injured is also a factor but work is the main one.
Went to Donny v Wimbledon and we need to keep an eye on two midfielders - Smith on loan from Arsenal and Close. Decent pairing.
