Revived Red
With deep sadness I'd like to let you know that my father in law, Bernard, also known to many of you here as Revived Red, passed away totally unexpected at 03.30 this morning. I'm sure many of you will have met him, especially at various away games etc. He loved Stanley and was a season ticket holder for many seasons, passing the Stanley bug on to me and my husband and kids.

Re: Revived Red
I’m saddened and stunned to hear such dreadful news. I was only in contact with Bernard the other week and looking forward to when we could next catch up at a Stanley game.
Truly sad news and condolences to you and the rest of his family. |

A proper member of the ‘Stanley Family’. |
Re: Revived Red
We met online, never in the flesh, but we got on well, and I liked him immensely. I am so sad to hear of his passing, and will miss his occasional pms which usually centred round my mangling of Latin in pursuit of a smile. My condolences on your sad loss. Bernard was one of the family, who will be remembered.

Re: Revived Red
This is very sad news. And I can only apologise for having jokingly described RR as "missing in action" when I wrote up my Prediction League report for the Doncaster game this morning. RIP Bernard.

Re: Revived Red
My thoughts go out to you & your family at this sad time, I never met RR (Bernard) but we exchanged pms due to the fact he had another passion besides Stanley & that was Ships & shipping. My awareness of this fact came about by chance when through a random chat we realised he knew my Father, another avid "Ship spotterist".

Re: Revived Red
Very sorry to hear of Bernard's untimely passing, please accept my condolences. I remember first making Bernard's acquaintance many years ago on a train platform in East London as he was wearing a 1962 Stanley shirt, and our paths crossed many times subsequently, usually at away games. I enjoyed chatting with him and found his views interesting and always educative.

Re: Revived Red
Like everyone else I was saddened to hear of Bernard's passing.
I was, fortunately, so lucky not to only have met him on many occasions at The Crown and at away games, but also to share many PM'S with a man I came to like and admire. On these occasions we always managed to put the world to right but also to quietly whisper the ways in which The Reds could be so much better if they really tried ! ( but don't tell anyone please ). So, once again a friend has gone and I must rely on my fading memory to recall all that was good about them. My kindest thoughts are with Kayleigh and all of Bernard's family at this sad time in their lives. My last sincere 'Thank you ' to Bernard, is for always laughing, sometimes with a grimace, at the sad puns and gags which I always managed to lay on him !...such tolerance !. Accrington Stanley and many of his friends have lost a true fan and a true Gentleman !. |
Re: Revived Red
Put so eloquently, which is nothing less than he would expect ;)

Re: Revived Red
just wonder if i have ever spoke to him or not. over the years you speak to loads of people at games without ever knowing their names. its always a sad day for friends and families when this happens and no words really can console them.
