Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Bit of a scruffy game but a wins a win. We were much better second half when Coyle came on. Now lets do it all again on Tuesday.

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Great result, great to see Stanley net five times, but it was not so easy for much of the game.
I actually didn’t realise Batty had been sent off, I thought I saw the ref raise a yellow, but it was right on the sideline so there was no long walk for the offending player. However, while Stanley led by a single goal, they were matched for quite a lot of the match by, what by then I realised, were ten men. Lot if them kids too, who really ran their socks off pressing our defenders. But, not coincidentally, the game was won by the goals and their timing. Bagging one at the restart was a life saver, and Colby took it well. Without that two goal lead it might have been a tad more jittery when Fleetwood got one back and started to play some nice, fast passing. The third was like a safety valve, and a great strike from young Coyle, and knocked the steam out of Fleetwood. The last two goals were both well created and taken and hope they help restore the confidence of the whole squad. Well done, Stanley. Just hope Coley has another wall to knock down before Tuesday night. |
Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Great result, but it was a poor game, from two poor teams on the day.
The score line papered over the cracks, because at 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1, Fleetwood were very much in the game. The game changed when Owen came on and I felt so sorry for Joel, as he had gotten himself into so many good positions, but our midfield/defence were incapable of playing the right ball! Joel, Owen, Lewis, Colby, Sean and the back three played well, but we are miles off being where we need to be. Another win on Tuesday needed and if we can get a point next Saturday I will be happy. We are in desperate need of the creativity of Pritchard and Butcher and I wish we would go back to a back four...... :) :) :) |

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
It's a funy old game is football. The difference between success & failure is often a mystery wrapped up in an enigma
Fleetwood know how Stanley have felt for months when, despite your best efforts, nothing seems to go your way. Perhaps the scoreline flattered us, for Fleetwood played some attractive passing football at times. It was one of those elusive days when, for once, lady luck was on our side. If Fleetwood face the drop come the final reckoning, JC should be straight on the phone to enquire about their no.41 Hayes, who ran rings round our defenders all day. A skilful young forward unafraid to take defenders on & create chances for his team. Apart from the much needed points, today was a massive confidence boost for the whole team. Just one thing Mr Coleman, next time please include Liam Coyle from the kick-off. Apart from his superb goal, his drive & energy was a massive reason we dominated the second half. |
Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
The positive side of Fleetwood fans; a bit of a curate's egg, but it shows all the goals from a different angle. And you can't fault the chap's enthusiasm...

Agree completely about Coyle, but that is Coley's job to balance the team :) :) |

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Disappointing gate yesterday 546 home fans shy of average of 2126 home fans this season worked out by average away fans across the division is 811 at present, think form bad weather Xmas and 3 games in a week were a factor but was a worrying sign hopefully pick back up.

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Four home games on the bounce Andy, at this time of year it is a big outlay!

Surely a case for the Psychiatrist's couch? Only those with a heart of stone could fail to feel sympathy for a young man watching his hopes unravel as the team he loves suffers another crushing defeat. His report contained all the emotions we invest in this game, from early hope to frustration at going 2-0 down, to renewed hope when they snatch one back, to despair by the final whistle. He even complimented our club & fans wishing us well for the future, a lesson in humility for all those who gloat at the defeat of opponents. For only a fool would want to see local clubs like Fleetwood & Morecambe relegated. We are not enemies but brothers-in-arms travelling the same rocky road. For the lucky few it leads to success & euphoria, for the majority disappointment. Those who would jeer at Fleetwood's misfortune should watch this video & remember that what goes around comes around. |

Left back apparently a target for Stanley in January thought Danny Andrew had a decent game 30 years old and into his last six months of his contract just a thought.

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Didn’t think it possible but my respect for Andy Holt has gone up.
Really don’t see much difference between fans behaviour that can lead to a club having to play behind closed doors (fighting, running onto the pitch, flares, any shouted “-ism”) and what these morons did. |
Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
Well done to all at the Club for handling this situation - cannot be easy/nice.....

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
hope the spitter gets a long ban from football plus a court case. far worse an action than hitting a player or racial abuse for me.

Re: The vs Fleetwood thread.
From a Sunderland forum last night seems to be in the water on the west coast , sad for our region to have these incidents
For reference. A flare thrown into the stand below them as well as a group of fans kicking and punching cars that were coming into the stadium prior to kick off. Quote Tweet Speak Sunderland @SpeakSAFC · 12h Morecambe fans take the medal for biggest set of C~#tz to come to the Stadium of Light. Some achievement that. #SAFC |
