Morecambe home thread.

Seeing as it's derby day tomorrow I am starting this one early loss last week so possibly changes,
My guess at lineup:-
Savin.
Clark. Sykes. Nottingham. Amankwah.
Hamilton. Morgan. Butcher.
O, Sullivan. Bishop. McConville.
Subs:-. Isherwood. Rodgers. Rich-Baghuelou. Pell.
Longelo. Nolan. Mansell.

Thought of Nolan for O, Sullivan but I think he will play O, Sullivan against his former club because he might just be up for a performance has slightly improved lately but Nolan should be given a go but McConville takes some shifting.

Yes Andy the forecast says 45 mph winds at KO time but they seem to be gusting pretty srongly now. Just been into town and had to avoid a wheelie bin that was being blown across the road, hope it doesn't put the match in jepardy.

we played well first half with a gift for morecambe the second half we were very poor yet no subs brought on WHY?

Re: Morecambe home thread.

Typical derby game played in some awful wind at times all over them first half but why leave just two at the back against the big bullying Cole gifted them two goals before equalising on the stroke of half time the stats say we had 33 shots story off our season have to take chances we had 3 good ones at nil apiece, strange substitution center half for Bishop, Colby was on a yellow or maybe he was struggling or worse still is he on his way. Thought Clark had another great game been a revelation since he came back to the side, Butcher also excellent let's hope the media interest in him is just that paper talk tough game next week but we need wins.

How would you feel if you were Mansell right now ?
On the bench - no other forward in sight and a Centre half gets on ahead of you ?
I don't get it.

"I wish the interviewer had asked him why he put a centre half up front and left a centre forward on the bench. And what he thought that decision would do to Lewis Mansell's confidence"

Re: Morecambe home thread.

When you're 2-0 down after 26 mins, a draw seems a reasonable result - honours even!
If only Stanley could convert possession into goals, the scoreline would have been much different.
Morecambe crossed the half-way line only twice in the first 30 minutes, but scored on each occasion.
Thankfully, our domination paid off & by half-time we'd clawed back some respectability.
Had Bishop not been crocked by a heavy challenge prior to our equaliser, the 2nd half may have proved decisive.
Morecambe are fighting for their right to remain in this league & on today's performance, who would deny them their place. They proved more than worthy opponents.
Every one of the Stanley team put in a shift, but Nottingham & Clark were outstanding.
So effective was Mitch on the right wing, I almost started to call him Jordan.
Talking of former players, did anyone notice the Young Pretender scored 2 & assisted a 3rd in Bolton's 6-0 demolition of Sunderland? Now Charlie is their darling.

it could or should have been 7 if chances were accepted by players. funny how that effort of seans has not been mentioned where it looked easier to score than miss. it might have been an exciting game to watch but in the end it was 2 points dropped rather than 1 point won even with the comeback.

Currently a Bolton striker who's scored 3 goals in his last two games, and will most likely want to get one over on Coley when we play them in April.

It's been mentioned on both the Facebook and Twitter Stanley pages created quite a bit of debate on Facebook.

Re: Morecambe home thread.

why should a wheelie bin put the game in jeopardy.
Yes FM perhaps I sould explain my post. Many, many seasons ago there was a group of us who stood together and at a match when there was a gale blowing, a bit like Saturday, a dust bin lid blow on to the pitch and an old bloke who stood in front of us started shouting at the ref to abandon the match as it was dangerous for the players. We all laughed at him and when ever anything blow on the pitch at future matchs we used to shout at the ref to stop the match because it was dangerous, much to the annoyance of the old bloke stood in front of us. When I read the post about a gale blowing I thought I would post about the wheelie bin and revive a few memories of those who stood in our group. Sadly I was informed at the match on Saturday that, other than myself, the only other two who were still with us are no longer able to follow the reds.
So FM I now realise that my post meant nothing to anyone.

I wouldn't describe myself as a die hard.......yes I was surprised at HT when our new defender came on upfront, and in fact expressed my surprise to the group of friends who I sit with. Young Mansel must be really annoyed. He played in the same fixture away at Morecambe and played well. Can't understand Coley's decision. Makes you wonder why he's on the bench if he's not good enough to come on. Can only think the second half tactic was to cram the box with giants and keep going long-ball..........I know lots of other teams in league 1 see us as a long-ball team.......we certainly don't play the football we used to play last season on the deck with quick passing. ......

the ones we get now would have been at that stage once. then they had more lee way in how to control games where once at the top its reffing to what is wanted from the league itself. ran the line and reffed myself in the latter part of the 90,s in the midlands and found it easy once you got up to speed with the game. at least the ball went where it was meant to do unlike games at a lower standard where reading the game was impossible.

what happens is that they are more or less told how to referee games to make sure they all sing from the same hymn sheet. the fact of many all looking alike nowadays as well as reffing alike says it all. gone are the days of tall ones, small ones, all different hair if they have it anyway as well as different waste sizes. every week we get the same incidents penalised just the same as the same things ignored especially on throw ins. all for the FA God of conformity. just imagine having to do your job or hobby a certain way all the time for no reason whatsoever. there is a good chance any league officials will also hold theit dog leads the same if they have a dog.

If anyone watch the Canada U.S game on the weekend the ref there was excellent, right from the start he didn't let the players complain, told them exactly how it was and got on with the game. I must admit that he was helped by two teams that wanted to win and didn't play act. A great example of how the game should be played, fast, hard and mouth shut.
