accies reject offer for rorry
no dowt about it if rory went we would miss him more than any outher player in my opinion

Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Hope he doesn't go.........
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Especially not to a shower like Bristol Rovers...
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
And we don't need to sell to balance our books, so on Saturday let's show Rory how much we want him to stay ;)
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Everyone sells if the offer is right.
5 figure sum . Didn't we pay 15k for him from Bradford PA I would be worried that if they really want him and up the offer. he may decide to go. It's a job to him no matter how much you sing his name. lets not forget. if he went to Bristol they would sing his name there as well so whats the difference to him. Conference football or league football and better wages. I am worried about this situation as playoff place goes out the window without rory IMHO |

For Rory this is a tremendous opportunity to play at a level at which he fully deserves (IMHO) and secondly to gauge the clubs intentions! |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Absolutely spot on, Maidstone Accy. Without Rory no pace, no width, no crosses. If he wants to go he has to go, but I would hold out for much more than a paltry £15,000, bearing in mind the level we brought him from.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Rory won't go to Bristol, why should he when he has a very real chance to play in League Two with Stanley (a club he loves playing for) in the not too distant future. The club can't afford to sell him as we saw when he came back from injury and made a terrific impact almost straight away.
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
I have to say, if Rory wants to chance his arm with a club in the League, then that is his decision, and Accy fans should respect that. Put yourself in his place, if you were offered a job with a rival company and offered a substantial rise, surely you would go even if your employees wanted you to stay. Anyhow, all this is academical at this time as the club have turned down the offer. IF Bristol do up the ante, then we have to listen to the sound commercial sense of the the management and driectors of the club and to the player himself, however much he and we may think about Accrington Stanley. One player does not a club make and others could fill in for him. Craney and McEvil for instance.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry
not saying he shouldnt go if it suited him just saying we would realy miss himas we did when he was injurd
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Hey everyone,
I'm a Bristol Rovers fan and was just wondering if you could say what sort of player he is, his strengths, weaknesses, style of play etc. Anything else you want to add. I am extremely surprised that we have offered cash to be honest as we are meant to have very little money at the moment, not even enough to pay the wages of a loan signing and here we are offering a transfer fee, strange! Anyway! Thanks to anyone that replies and all the best for the rest of the season! |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
He is the best left winger in this league and above, fast, tricky, centres the ball every time, and can score goals.. we do not want to lose him.........
Rory don't go they are skint ;) |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Its not Rory's decision though as he has a two year contract at Stanley & if he performs well, as a free agent he will be able to get more wages.
How old is he? If he is under 23 next year then he can't leave for free though! Please don't go! |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
I hope nothing comes of this. :(
Perhaps a rendition of "Please Don't Go" on Saturday? :D |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
The Roar is 25 and loves playing for Stanley.I think he has come back stronger than ever after his op and the Club would be shooting themselves in the foot if they were to let him go now.As stated in an earlier post he still has a year on his contract and though he would love to play in a higher league I think his priority is to see the Reds back in League football.I would be very surprised to see him go at this juncture.
I don't think anyone who has seen him play in the last 5/6 matches will be surprised by this offer;it was only a matter of time after Sky showed all those corners at Halifax! I |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
PLEASE DONT GO RORY,
you are by far the best winger in the league and why go to a club in league 2 who look to be strugleing financaily compared with staying at a club where by you are garenteed a starting place and we are on the up PLEASE DONT GO!!!! |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
If Rory wants to go, which I hope he doesn't, then there is not a great deal the club can realistically do about it. If Stanley do not wish to cash in, he could be told to knuckle down or be thrown in the reserves. But this would more than likely have a negative effect with other players' moral being affected, and to the team's detriment.
If the Gasheads are serious about prising rory from our club, they can go about it by increasing their derisory opening offer. At all levels of football, money talks; and I wouldn't talk to anything less than 75k and a 25% sell-on clause, similar to the deal done with the Donkey-Lashers for Brett Ormerod a few years back. |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
A 'five figure sum' could mean anything from £10,000 to £99,999. I would bet that Bristol Rovers have offered something like £10,000. If I remember correctly we paid £7,500 for him with another £2,500 if we won the Unibond League. As stated the Club have turned down the offer, but, even if it was accepted the decision would be up to Rory and, if Bristol Rovers are skint I cannot see them offering much more in wages than we are. He would have to up sticks and move to Bristol as he couldn't travel from Yorkshire every day for training, so, I am sure it would have to be a substantial increase in wages to make him move to Bristol. He is a very important player for us but if somebody offered a 'five figure sum' say £99,999 then we would have to think seriously about letting him go and replacing him.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry
come on rory stop where you are
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
I would have thought with minimum expenditure over the last 12 months and lots coming in (sponsors, tv and cup run) then Rory is more important than 99k which would probably just go in the bank with the rest of the stash and not get used..
I am sure it was 15k JEFF .. Dunno why.. just have it in my head... |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Rory Prendergast: 23-year-old left-winger signed from Bradford Park Avenue in December, 2002 for £7,500. Signed for Bradford from Frickley in July 2002, scoring 14 goals for Park Avenue. Made 24 Football League appearances with York City and Barnsley, and has also played with Emley, Nuneaton Borough and Gainsborough Trinity
It was either £5,000 + £2,500 or £7,500 + £2,500, but it really does not matter as he is going nowhere. |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
we definately cannot afford to lose rory, hes the reason y we have started going on this run of winning games
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
I stand corrected JEFF. :) But 15k still sticks in my head..
Anyways.. According to Bristol rovers...and splashed all over the internet..... they never even made an offer and arn't likely to |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
He'll have to improve his timekeeping if he wants to stay with us! What would we do if everyone turned up at 9:10 for a 7:45 kick off?
hehehehe |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
That was because of a big crash on the M62
Wasn't his fault |

Bristol Rovers boss Ian Atkins has denied making a bid for Accrington winger Rory Prendergast. Stanley claimed Rovers had offered a five-figure sum for the 26-year-old but Atkins said: "We aren't in a position to make bids for any players. I always keep an eye on a lot of players and ask about them because of the contacts I have within the game. But if you enquire about a player, it doesn't always mean you want to buy them," he told his club's website. What else would it mean when a club enquires about a player from another club? |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
To see if he was available for future references maybe?

RORY ......................NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
TM - NLP arnt renowned for there facts but I guess they have spoken to him and I guess they wont have simply made things up.. The "done everything for Accrington" (if true) comment... aint good
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
If I was Rory there'd be no way I'd make comments like that. Like you say Kipax, the NLP aren't always 100% accurate, but they won't have made this up either. To make comments like that, when a deal is far from sorted (if rumours are true), makes Rory appear to be a bit of a clown.
If the comments you've quoted are accurate, then the sooner he leaves the better in my opinion. A negative influence in the dressing-room doesn't help the club at all. It's a shame, but no man is bigger than the club. |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
i was just asking if had actually taken them from the nlp or just made them up or summot or just put it in2 his own words etc.
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
o please dont go rory if u do we have no chance of promotion this year or next
U will get promoted with us if not this year but next please dont go |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
It would appear that there has been some "artistic licence" used in the NLP article;they can expect a call from "Disgusted" from Rotherham tomorrow.
Maybe they just couldn't understand Rory's accent.... |
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
As much as I do want him at our club I must say I feel quite sorry for you, we know what it is like to have a player want to move onto bigger and better things. Hopefully we can get him ASAP as comments like that are likely to upset the dressing room surely?
|
Re: accies reject offer for rorry
wot do you mean by artistic license?

Re: accies reject offer for rorry
Rovers pay a fee for a player who isn't a striker? dont worry accy fans, im 99% sure Rory will stay with you.
Our manager is a nutter, our directors b*stards and our players lazy. Rory (according to your praise) just wouldnt fit in with the style we've got going here. Good luck with the rest of the season, I may be back if that "five-figure-sum" pops its unlikely head out again. |
