Pre-season friendlies

On Twitter - not that I use it - that Stanley will play 5 home friendlies in 15 days, starting from 9th July :)

Teams to be announced, at least four Championship Clubs (is there a hidden message there?)

:)

Why, who were you expecting at the Wham, PSG or Real Madrid?

Joe;

PL clubs good abroad to earn silly amounts of money; you know that.

PL clubs would need a massive police and security presence and with us only being able to accomodate 5k fans; we'd need to be charging high prices to cover these costs.

We've asked loads of top clubs to come BUT for a variety of good reasons they weren't available.

So go on with your ex Director hat on Joe; who would be sensible clubs to ask for the 23/24 PSF campaign?

Others feel free to throw in suggestions and I'll add them to a "possible list" or try and explain why in my view it's very unlikely.

PS I've asked Aston Villa but the dates I offered they were abroad

Well, if the Premiership can go all ‘international’ in the pre-season, why can’t Stanley use its ‘connections’?
In the absence of Third Lanark, how about Inverness Caledonian Thistle?

Mark, I get what you are saying and was always thankful that you were the one doing all the worrying about things like this, so the rest of did not have too and you are very good at it ;)

All I have said - in answer to a question - is who I would like to see :)

You could try the Jockeens maybe, I know (going back a good few years mind) that Rangers came to Germany & played against Preussen Munster & SF Lotte neither were & still aren't big clubs. So if they could blag games against Rangers I'm sure Stanley could manage it to.

They were usually part of a week away and normally ended with a game against a Bundesliga side.

Much as I would like to see Rangers at Accy, I doubt that the local police would be too happy given how many would turn up.

Thanks for the link, Joe. It's handy because there's a full list of friendlies at the bottom of the page.

Behind closed doors friendly with Crystal palace away this Saturday available to stream on Palace TV just wondering if a loan deal with a Palace player might be in the pipe line or vice versa they want a look at one of ours?

Re: Pre-season friendlies

Andy and all

A team cancelled on Palace at the last minute. They really wanted a L1 club but most are N/A for good reason's. Only other option was a part time Conf South team

There has been good co-operation with all parties involved to sort the "stuff" that gets a northern club into London for a game with only a few days notice

Hopefully we can smuggle back on the team coach another JBR :)

Had a quick look at Palace TV. The "legal" cost looks like £19.99 for their July pre season bundle of matches including Stanley against what they describe as an Academy side.

1-1 Lowe comes on at half time and scores a super finish goal after 4 minutes into his debut.

Or just trying different things only Clark and Hamilton getting the full 90 minutes plus the trailist at left back got 84 minutes before being forced off and Whalley coming back on for another 6 minutes not bad for 34 year old.

The five subs that came on at half time apart from Lowe the scorer from non league the rest have come from Burnley, Liverpool and Newcastle some pedigree there and shows how far we have come from non league days and the majority of the side were trialists from invariably non league although that worked out well also.

Has Shaun Whalley re-signed with Stanley after leaving Shrewsbury?
