forest green?
have just listened to our managers view of the Burton game he said we had 3 strikers WELL every attack virtually there was only 1 in the box, perhaps thats why we were nowhere in the first half? we should have more men yon when attacking surely?
|
Re: forest green?
Tend to agree, Cashy. The successful pairings of the sainted Billy Kee and Jackson, and Bishop and the unsaintly Charles, seemed to work. Don’t seem to have been able to come up with a ‘pair’ of strikers since then to any extent.
I like Kode’s determination to score and Josh Woods’ pace, but Matt Lowe is, I suspect, being asked to do too much when he’s isolated on his own up front. |
Re: forest green?
Perhaps the move from non-league to L1 is a leap too high for Lowe.
|
Re: forest green?
Maybe, but not permanently. Matt Lowe showed against Charlton that he’s a battler, but Kee and Bishop were really effective when they had a pacy partner who could run onto balls that were ‘laid off’. Lowe doesn’t seem to have had that partner yet, but he can’t be faulted for effort.

Re: forest green?
Not doubting the lads commitment, but has he got the individual skill to create goal scoring chances and, more importantly, convert them.
You can't expect strikers to have everything laid on a plate for them by others. |

The problem with one player leading the line is that the opposition simply put 2 defenders to mark him & you've nullified the threat. Unless of course he's a striker like Denis Law, who could leave a 5 man defence in his wake, dance a quickstep with the goalie, before tapping in from 3 inches. A strikers roll is to score - Bishop's been doing it every week since he joined Pompey. The jury is still out on whether Lowe will prove to be a real gem, or just a piece of costume jewellery |
Re: forest green?
why did they not click? to me it was only 1 was in the box mostly. or does no-one take notice?
|
Re: forest green?
I don't know why we can't have both Lowe and Kodey for at least 45 mins....

Re: forest green?
Haven't seen any weather news yet so bit of a surprise when just switched on. Tenner will carry over to re-arranged game I assume - so long as they don't play it on a Sat when both out of FA Cup !

Re: forest green?
Have just emailed iFollow to ask about what happens now, not least because I found this on the iFollow website under its terms and conditions (you know, the twenty pages of 6pt font we never read):

Re: forest green?

Re: forest green?
I've had a good favorable response in the past using their live chat facility. Its worth a try.
I normally take a photo of the live text as it includes the name of the person you are dealing with. |

Re: forest green?
I'm following the game in the Canary Islands while watching Man City......what a taker of chances that Haarland fella is. He only needs the smallest chance and takee it. We are a team of nearly men. COME ON STANLEY!

Re: forest green?
Great play from Mitch and well finished by Tommy Lee. Game on
|
Re: forest green?
Goal to FG. 2-1
|
Re: forest green?
Didn’t expect to be watching a relegation battle this early in the season.
|
Re: forest green?
What's with all the talk of a relegation battle - we're a work in progress mainly due to injuries to pivotal players as well as losing 3 in the summer.
Disappointing yes, but the season's only just started - keep the faith, we'll be just fine |
Re: forest green?
We will know a little more next time we turn up at The Crown ;)
Imps and Chairboys - both away - up next..................... :) |
Re: forest green?
Feel for those 34 Stanley fans that made the trip! Thought we might have got something out of this game a much needed victory with more difficult games over the next week :( Disappointing to say the least...

Re: forest green?
i honestly expected a win last night, but we were chronic against a rubbish side did anyone notice how many players we had in the box when we equalised? it was one of the few times we had.
|
Re: forest green?
We just haven't got enough experience on the pitch in certain positions and in certain situations. Too many lads having to learn their trade on the job.
It's going to get harder. Hamilton and Coyle already stacking the yellows up then the mounting up injuries. Another year another roller coaster ride. |
Re: forest green?
Forest Green were the worst side I’ve seen If we can’t get at least a draw against opposition such as that well I despare I know we have injuries but we’re supposed to have a brilliant squad Let’s hope we come to at Lincoln or we will be looking up at an increasing large gap in the table

All footie fans are optimists at the start of the season, but there comes a time when stark reality dawns. I know we're always strapped for cash and rely on loans & freebies, but is a non-league striker & a fullback from Clitheroe the best we can do? After surviving years of 'make do and mend', the chickens have finally come home to roost & I genuinely fear for our prospects. Poor results have an negative effect on attendances - add a cost of living crisis and watch both home & away fans disappear faster than you can say Hamilton Academicals. I'm no football genius, but it's obvious our current game-plan simply isn't working when we're incapable of dispatching lower opposition. Someone described insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Unless we get back to winning ways soon, relegation is a real possibility. |
Re: forest green?
Agreed mate.
My post on the other thread. The Club has chosen its path to tread - over a few seasons now. You only have to look back at historical posts. No one is right no one is wrong its the Accy way. I've been vocal on the lack of investment in the product on the pitch and whether people like it or not my opinion hasn't and won't change. This is League One. These signings year after year are gambles. Sooner or later it catches up with you. Continuously pulling up minor miracles from lower leagues is nothing short of miraculous and then moving them on at a profit an even bigger miracle. Add to that the lack of experience from the loanees. Suck it up buttercup you reap what you sow. |
