Re: peterbourgh game.
3-1 now and we've no strikers on the pitch yet !! Getting a bit one sided now we can't keep the ball, having said that we have had chances
|
Re: peterbourgh game.
Sitting 5th from bottom in the table just 1 point above the drop zone. Not a good place to be unless its after the last game of the season.
|
Re: peterbourgh game.
19 minutes to go and a defender and 2 midfielders substituted. No Delfonso or Sissay? Just can't understand it.
|
Re: peterbourgh game.
Both bench strikers on with 4/5 minutes of normal time to go. Anybody else understand this?
|
Re: peterbourgh game.
All over lost 3-1. I await the managers view with interest.

Re: peterbourgh game.
Well !.. That was a totally inept display from a squad of sub-quality players .
A colander type defence which the opposing forwards just strolled through and should have scored a lot more goals . A lot of running but little else from a midfield who were not in the same league as their opposing counterparts. Forwards who carried no threat whatsoever to Peterborough's defenders ... two wingers who in spite of what some will say, are ready to be put out to grass . All in all, one or two more repeats of tonight's dire performance will see the Reds shuffling off to the depths of League 2. I know that uncharacteristically I seem to be our forum's moaner -in-chief these days, but I am so disappointed at what I see emanating from our team and their management. Just my opinions folks , possibly the ramblings of what Cashy would describe as an Owd Fart !.. ON STANLEY.. ON TO GREATER THINGS !... PLEASE !. . |
Re: peterbourgh game.
Well I think the current formation is proving it doesn't work against the to-half teams in League 1. They just have too much quality and strength in depth available to come off the bench. Leigh and the supporting 4 attacking midfielders aren't able to produce goals in any quantity. I would go with a 4-2-3-1. With two holding midfielders in front of the back 4 and with Delfonso and Sissay in the front 4. Probably Sissay up top as our target man. That way Rogers and Clarke can still get forward but we still have cover for the remaining 2 centre backs with the holding midfielders. I know we lose Coyle and Tharme on Saturday due to "too many yellow cards", but there are options for cover. Anyone else got any thoughts?

Re: peterbourgh game.
That's Top Half teams not to half.....

I know that things change - due to personnel - but, I agree 4-1-4-1 (or whatever we play) is not working. The main issue - regardless of any formation - is the lack of goal scorers......... :) |

Re: peterbourgh game.
We have a front man who is really a midfielder and two wide men (both in their 30s) who are slower than me and i am in my 60s. We also have two front men on the bench who either remain on the bench throughout the whole game or, at best they are allowed to come on with 5 or 6 minutes of the game still to play.
All this would be fine if we were consistently gaining points but, we arn't. |
