The Battered Cod Thread

Same old, same old line-up for todays game.
One man up front. Strikers left on the bench?????
No imagination.
Keeping fingers crossed for a draw :(

0-0 HT Leigh's best performance up front but no goals yet!

Only needs MK Dons to score & we'll drop into the relegation zone

Re: The Battered Cod Thread

I Appreciate Lord S's comment about same old. I find it very frustrating not using available recognised Striker on the bench again. Surely if they don't play they will never get match fit. I understand Lowe is recovering from surgery......not sure about Kode. Seems to have been out for weeks and weeks.....Hamstring I think. How are you Kiwi ....any news from down-under?

Kiwi....should have stayed on Holiday ..
..Leigh spending too much time out of the box for a striker for me second half....Flertwood wasting time and a corner and its 3 nil.....Game over

3 Goals conceded for the 4th game in a row!
Any other team - in any league- and the manager would be down the road

Can't for the life in me understand why we don't play with recognized strikers when we have them on the bench. Why sign them if they don't play?

That's the point Liegh isn't and never will be a striker terrible management decisions being made at the moment to concede 3 every game is a joke when you pick the same barring suspension 11 stinks of favouritism or just doesn't have confidence or rate anyone else.

A Striker at last ?... Adekoya?..
Big lad ...but doesn't know where t' goals are !..can hit the crossbar though when easier to score !.
Absent Midfield second-half .. no leader ! .. Fleetwood playing football whilst Stanley are kicking a ball around !.
Our ageing 'stars' not shining at all today ...eclipsed?.
Beginning to think that Lord S's comment re Manager's going down
t'road might just have some validity !.
3-0 another disappointment !.

What a shambles. A mustn't lose game lost! Prior to today we lost to bigger and better sides....and fleetwood do have more resources, but our stubborn msnager will be plying his trade in League 2 next season if he doesn't change his ways.

On a positive note, liked the look of the new young striker. Hope he gets some minutes under his belt in the next few games. The bar is calling....Up The Stanley!

Must be very frustrating for Andy Holt when you consider the money he has put into the club only to be let down by whats seen on the pitch. I truly hope he doesn't get to despondent and sticks with us.

Problem is Andy Holt publicly said a while ago probably a bit daft that Coleman was the best man for the job and wouldn't sack him even if relegated.

16 points from 16 games.. 17 goals for - 28 goals against !.
Two points above the bottom four !... a totally immotivated and low quality squad with some guaranteed a start irrespective
of their age and diminishing value to the team !.. it goes on and on Lord S !... So ? although I detect some tongue-in-cheek hiding in your reply... ???

It’s the fifth game in a row.

And since then Stanley’s injury problems appear to have got worse.

As you know Lord S...........Holty doesn't think that's even an option.......But surely some sort of change up front is required. Even if we lose with a striker up front......it doesn't make any difference to the current run of results.

Well at half-time I never seen that coming!.
Fleetwood were poor, and they lost their centre forward after half an hour.
Three points were there for the taking.
Couldn’t believe what happened ,but the disappointing thing was the reaction after each goal, there was nothing!!!,who’s the leaders/fighters???,not the Acci way:(

The keyboard warriors are out in force tonight. Bigger threads when we lose a game rather than when we win says it all. Lots of hidden agendas I suspect.

Exile on Spencer St 29-10-2022 20:19

Re: The Battered Cod Thread

I’m not sure what “agenda” you think mere fans can have, Pidge, unless you’re confusing it with “opinion”.
I would guess for most the agenda is to see Stanley higher up the league.
Anyway, glad to see some response because there’s been little or no online discussion on here, whether it’s a win/win/win or a loss/loss/loss….

I totally agree with F19 - we don’t appear to have a genuine leader who is able either to stir the loins of the younger players by force of personality and/or change the course of a game by example.
Harry Pell had a bit of the former, but he’s gone. Notts could have provided it but he’s out. Coyle might have it, in five or six years.
But McConville doesn’t seem to have it, and never has. To my eye, he’s never been brave enough to inspire others in adversity.
Conneely tries but doesn’t seem to have that extra something that a leader on the pitch needs.

If only opinions could stir a few warriors on the pitch as easily as on the keyboard.

Hi stranger !.. Apart from Coyle and Hamilton we haven't got anyone you could remotely describe as a 'fighter'.. As for a leader ?.. We have two ! ..in name only unfortunately !..
As usual you've hit the nail squarely on the head !.

My best to you both !.

Was looking for you at the Bolton game!!!,
Think the team are technically good and for 70 minutes were the better team against Bolton,.
The team are missing Nottingham in the games I’ve watched.
Like the look of Mitch Clarke although he was quite today.
KTF !!!

i wish that was all it was injuries, not playing a striker is the biggest problem to me.

He only played for the last 5 minutes at Peterborough, surely he can't be injured again

Re: The Battered Cod Thread

What little I’ve seen of Leslie Adekoya in the U23s (which is more than I’ve seen of Delfouneso or Toure, or….Joe Hardy!) I’d give him another go.
He’s in good company by hitting the woodwork, and it’s more than Nathan D achieved from the same spot recently.
If nothing else, having a striker might mean Tommy Leigh can get back to doing what he seems to do best as an attacking midfielder, instead of wasting his energy running after balls punted down the side line.
Can only hope the reduced schedule this coming month allows time for more of the injured to recover, and for the management to come up with some magic.

Am I right in thinking Doug Tharme and Liam Coyle are available for Tuesday nights game? For getting 6 yellows in first 19 weeks of the season. I know Liam has 7 yellows but one was in a Trophy game.

Had a look on line. Looks like it's a 1 match ban after receiving 5 yellow cards in the first 19 weeks.
