Injuries...

More injuries in attacking positions..

Kode just beginning to feel his way back and we lose 2 more :(

Is it something we do????

Are we just that unlucky???

I suspect it may be a bit of both.

Sells Sykes, then the other two established central defenders get long term injuries.
Sells Bishop, the only recognised striker, then Lowe requires surgery, Adedoyin and Sisay get injured and even young Woods gets crocked.
Off-loads Scully because there are too many midfielders, and next game McConville and Pritchard pick up injuries.

This season Professor Coleman must feel his theme song is The Hollies’ “King Midas in reverse”.
Does anyone know a good exorcist?

Listening to Coley in his Pompey pre-match, there we some positives on the injury front :)

VALAIRIAN 03-01-2023 10:24

Re: Injuries...

19 weeks left in the season.

Pritchard is out for all of them :(

Kode is out for 6 - according to Coley :(

Not going to see much of Matt Lowe - I would have thought.....

Mo Sangare????

we badly need a striker but will he get a game if we get one?

VALAIRIAN 03-01-2023 12:18

Re: Injuries...

I am going to say yes Cashy, if we get the right one :)

Billy, Mullers, Colby, Gornell even Matt Lowe, fit the bill of what Coley wants, which in turn is how Coley wants to play :)

We have a few quid from the cup runs and have to factor in the massive income loss if we are not in League 1.......

:)

We've already paying Delfouneso, Adedoyin & Sisay to warm the bench.
None of them have been given a serious opportunity to show what they can do.
Surely the time has come to give at least 2 of them a full game, after all, our recent team selection has proved totally ineffectual.
PS. Thought Longelo was perhaps the one player whose performance praiseworthy at Morecambe.
.

Re: Injuries...

Kode is 6 weeks away according to Coley - but agree with your sentiments about him :)

Nathan is just an absolute double own goal....

Not sure where Sisay has gone, but he must be worth more than 10 minutes at the end?!?!?!

They aren't even warming the bench Delfounesue, Sisse,Hardy and Lusiama have all been waste of space signing,s don't think any of the four will ever play for Stanley that leaves us Adeoyin,Lowe injured and jury still out on both of them and young Adekoya and Woods,, of these two youngsters Adekoya looks like a natural striker getting automatically into the right position,s but only 17/18 Woods looks more of a winger and his very raw. We need at least two ready to go experienced strikers getting them is the difference .

Well JC must have seen some potential in them?
Some are on 2 year contracts, but given little or no opportunity.
I guess we'll never know when we keep selecting the same 11 every week.
Yes we need a proven striker asap, but in the meantime, give em' a go.

Just thinking about the major injuries..........
  • Notts.
  • Seamus.
  • Pritchard.
  • Matt Lowe.
  • Clark.

Who would NOT be playing if these regulars were????

Pressley would not be here I suppose if Lowe was not injured, but who makes way for the rest????

A fit Notts. and Clark MUST play and I suppose the same for Seamus and Joe?

:)

Jay Rich Baghelou IMHO would be a first name on the team sheet too before his season ending injury!

Tharme, Astley and Hamilton are a MINIMUM from today...............

Regardless of anything we might think of tactics, substitutions and favorites, I think only Abu Dhabi F.C. could sustain this.........

I don’t usually make any public comments after a defeat………but today I cannot stay silent. Today was probably our worst performance in years.
As we could clearly see in the first ten minutes today our back three were totally stretched across the pitch and Astley and Tharme were totally beaten for pace. We desperately miss Mitch Clarke at the right side of our defence and as I said to you Joe it was blatantly obvious that we needed to make an early tactical change to a flat back four. Sean Mac has been a great servant for Stanley but I am afraid that the words ‘has been’ are so obviously applicable now. Since Sean had his bad Achilles injury he has not been the same player. He rarely tackles an opponent and stands off opposing attackers, also he cannot dribble past an opponent. His corners and free kicks are so predictable making it very easy for opposing goal keepers and centre backs to deal with.
Tharme and Astley have played quite well when not stretched out across the pitch but today they were torn apart simply by pace. Tharme to me looks a bit heavier than before his injury a few weeks ago.
We missed Seamus Coneelly particularly today in midfield. His experience and positional sense keeps the play tight.
Ross Longelo was our only player capable of beating opponents but like last week our opponents were allowed to foul him at will. Eventually he drifted out of the game too. Toby did manage to keep the score down late on in the match but he really makes me nervous when he has to kick out from back passes!!!
IMHO we finished with eight players on the pitch today…..two off injured, one sent off, subs used up and Sean Mac still on the pitch.
In terms of ‘Luck’ everything seemed to go against us today…..poor tactics and lack of tactical changes did not help but every bounce of the ball seemed to go against us! The referee IMHO was poor but we still would have lost had he been a good ‘un. His decision to give Woods a yellow card for his first tackle was ridiculous and summed up his refereeing today! Woods had won the ball cleanly! He gave yellow cards for petulance but not for the continuous fouls on Longelo and Pressley!
I know that in truth if all of our squad were available and fully fit then only three or four of todays selection would be in the first eleven.
It will be interesting to see what changes are made in selection, tactics and formation for Tuesday.
Finally, I hope that Doug Tharme and Ryan Astley aren’t badly injured and that we can get some of our boys recovering from injury back soon.
Disappointed to see some fans leaving early today……we stayed until the end and always will.
ON STANLEY ON.

Great to see Mo warming up on Saturday and playing last night.
Hope his subbing was just lack of match fitness?

Seamus is back :)

Mitch is getting time on the pitch, so will not be far away :)

Mo is back :)

Notts. should not be that far off????

Matt Lowe was warming up on Saturday also :)

Ryan/Doug are the two we are not sure about yet???

Getting better by the day, just hope that we can stay injury and ban free until May 8th :)

And to see Korede Adedoyin back and muscling his way through the shirt pulling and pushing.

Ros is OK for Ipswich :)

Matt Lowe and Shaun Whalley are still out :(

:)

Greger 07-03-2023 11:32

Re: Injuries...

Pressley and Butler are adequate replacements for the latter two. But we could do with the return of a midfielder or two.

Of course Whalley could do a job in midfield. I would play him and Ethan in midfield if everybody was fit. But since Coley insists that he is a forward his absence is (sadly) of little consequence.

Matt Lowe looked to be really hobbling at the end of the Burton game. Just hope he didn’t undo the work of that hip surgery.

Lowe.

VALAIRIAN 16-03-2023 09:55

Re: Injuries...

Not sure where Ros is up to - not in the squad for Pompey - plus we lost Seamus (looked similar to last time....) and Mo :(

Add to that Lukas (2 games) and Harvey (2 games) and we are in a pickle..... talking of Pickles, he is an ideal replacement for Harvey :)

Baba replaces Mo, Dan Martin for Seamus and Toby for Lukas :)

Might not have anybody for the bench, but at least we have a starting XI :)

:)

VALAIRIAN 03-04-2023 10:04

Re: Injuries...

Looking at the pictures on Twitter, Coyle and Hamilton look like they are on their way back :)

Seamus is the person we need to play every minute from now until the end of the season :)
