Creativity from midfield and somebody to score goals.... :)

Re: Transfer Window
Of course a striker is our main priority but we also need someone to stop them going in the other end.
Sorry, love him but Toby Savin is never L1 standard |

He is sat on the bench M'Lord ;)

Re: Transfer Window
I would think we will see Lucas in the cups certainly and he may well continue into the Bristol Rovers Game.
Having watched Seamus's interview post Derby, very honest and intimating that there are no easy fixes to our poor results of late. I believe the current starting 11 and bench are simply dictated by the only fit players at the club. Delfonso, Sisay and Hardie were by their absences very poor signings and are costing us some of our playing budget. The same goes for several others who I can't name.....as it makes my blood boil just thinking about them.......As always we have to trust the Manager AND Chairman to somehow find the answer. I.e......THEY'VE GOT TO DO THEIR JOB. |
Re: Transfer Window
dont say much for those that have already been signed in my book.so what does that tell yeh?

Re: Transfer Window
Dave Burgess said we are close to one over the line expected to sign later today or tomorrow wether it's this one is anyone's guess, but some interesting names becoming free agents including one Conner Wickham just left Forest Green Rovers.

Re: Transfer Window
I read problems with his Hamstring?.............Is he fit? We've got a full treatment room already...........let's hope he's had a thorough medical. I'd much prefer a fit striker from non-league.......thoughts?

Blimey, he hasn't even arrived yet & the negativity has already started. He's only on loan, what's the risk? He just may prove to be a goal machine - let optimism reign! |

Re: Transfer Window
21 year old 6'4" striker a position we have been desperate to fill, lets hope this young man can lift us up the table, brentford must of seen potential in this lad, just hope he plays and not just sitting keeping the bench warm
|
Re: Transfer Window
Trust me and more importantly Coley ;)
The lad will be playing on a regular basis In the interest of both clubs and the player |

Re: Transfer Window
Aaron Pressley comes across as a sound lad, I just hope he isn’t left isolated running around on his own up front and winning headers that go to no-one in red, like Tommy Leigh’s been having to do.
We have to play two out and out attackers closely working with and off each other, just like Morecambe recently decided to do to great effect. |
Re: Transfer Window
we do need 2 up front doubt if that will occur though.
|
Re: Transfer Window
I see that Brentford have loan-signed Romeo Beckham to replace Aaron!

Re: Transfer Window
Not long left, but I am sure that the loan window will be open again soon????
Just think we need players in now...... :) |
Re: Transfer Window
Think the loan window is the same as the transfer window now. JC said he wanted to get his business done quickly so getting worried that we've only managed one signing to date. Hope for some gems later today.
|
Re: Transfer Window
I think the gap between us and other 'strugglers' in league 1, is really evident when you look at the signings made by other clubs. For example, Fleetwood signed 2 forwards yesterday who are proven at this level. I doubt we'd be anywhere near those kind of players.

to me that was the only way to do it.

Re: Transfer Window
Well let’s see how is to be used. Another sub?
Don’t think Pressley and Stockton would have been a match made in heaven, and that probably was a non starter anyway. Can name 91 League sides they would rather sell, too. I have never seen Nathan but his write-up appears to make him a good choice for Pressley’s running mate, which would free Sean Whalley for a more creative role. But will it happen? Not sure. Coley’s never been good at the “Kill your darlings” game. Will it be Pressley or Nathan rather than and? Hope not. |
Re: Transfer Window
Tend to agree, Gregor.
Let’s hope this new lad can show us what he’s got and deliver balls into the box and the net. It’s hard to imagine how Stanley can reverse their recent league form unless they field at least two out and out attackers. For what seems like months we’ve had Tommy Leigh laying off headers to the opposition because there‘s rarely another player in red close to him. It would seem a waste of Pressley’s talents to have him play the same lone striker role. |
Re: Transfer Window
butler-oyedeji & pressley as strike partners
|
Re: Transfer Window
Successful teams are organised to defend as a team & attack as a team.
Leeds simply overran our defence in numbers to score 2 of their 3 goals. Our reliance in the past of hoping one solitary striker will score against an organised defence has proved a tactical disaster. The sooner we get back to fast wing play with at least 2 strikers in the box the better. |
Re: Transfer Window
in league 1 the majority of teams have 6' 2" plus defenders, butler-oyedeji is a young 5' 10" striker that would be bullied out of the game if playing on his own up front, the option to play him as a strike partner with 6' 4" pressley would seem to be ideal
|
Re: Transfer Window
All will be revealed on Saturday. I can't see young Butler-Oyedeji playing a full game on Saturday but I can never understand why Coley doesn't start with say Pressley and Butler-O up front together even if one or both of them have to come off after an hour. We all know goals change games and if they did score......it would really have an impact on the game. Can't see him starting but I hope he gets longer than 10 to 15 minutes on the pitch........fingers crossed...
|
Re: Transfer Window
Surprisingly its been a pretty good window for us.......two strikers in on loan and an attacking mid-fielder signed permanent...........Can't remember if that's EVER happened before in the January window?
|
Re: Transfer Window
its only good if they get played imho.

Welcome to Stanley, Anthony Mancini!
Can never have too many left-footed players! Hope he can show us what he can do. |
Re: Transfer Window
Anthony Mancini, 21 years old signed until the end of the season. Attacking midfielder with a good left foot. Maybe to provide cover for Sean McConville (and Tommy Leigh!) with the games coming thick and fast....

Harry perritt joins altrincham fc full time.

Re: Transfer Window

Re: Transfer Window
Not surprised really. Probably at the stage in his career where he needs to test himself against experienced players and he should get plenty of that with Altrincham. Best of luck to the lad.
Jack Nolan is another candidate who seems to be ignored yet every time ive seen him play for the 23s he's stood out a mile as a good footballer who could have done a good job for us if given a good chance in the first team rather than cameo appearances. |
