Re: The Barnsley thread.
Have no idea how the game was, but 1-1 is a good point. Well done you men in red.

Re: The Barnsley thread.
Neither have I, but the stats seem to agree with you, if a good point means you were very lucky to get one. 20 attempts to 4 tells a story.

Re: The Barnsley thread.
Thought our substitutes made a massive difference second half when they came on in getting us back into the game. Oh, and what a great refereeing performance from the lady referee.

Ref Rebecca?

Re: The Barnsley thread.
Agree about the excellent ref, Watchdog. She more than compensated for the cr*p linesman running alongside the Eric Whalley stand.
But what a transformation from such brave and attacking subs. Take off two defenders and bringing on two attackers. Thought both young forwards, Adekoya and Woods, really brought some pace and threat. We’ll done, Stanley. |
Re: The Barnsley thread.
hope everyone noticed we had strikers on 2nd half, what the difference was in our performance?

Re: The Barnsley thread.
A hard earned point against a high flying Barnsley team.
We were outplayed in the first half and Barnsley deserved their lead at half time. However, our recovery started with the introduction of Ross Longelo at the start of the second half. He gave us a great attacking option down the left flank. When young Leslie Adekoya came on we finally managed to put some pressure on our opponents defence. We got the somewhat dubious penalty but Tommy Leigh put it away just like Messi would have done. Side netting, hard and low, it was perfect in front of the Clayton End! We finally disrupted Barnsley’s control in the last twenty minutes as the game went ‘end to end’. Toby Savin did his bit too making two or three great saves worth a goal or two. Josh Woods came on and chased everything down with his effervescent running and Harry Perritt came on quite late but played his part in stopping the Barnsley flow. He can be ‘pleased’ with his yellow card in our desperate attempts to hang on to the point! I thought the referee today was the best that I have seen at The Wham stadium this season. She applied the rules well whilst allowing the game to flow! She fully deserves praise IMHO. Overall it was a great point for us and Barnsley must go home feeling like it was a defeat. ON STANLEY ONLY :theband::signbeer::drink::wave8: KEEP THE FAITH. |
Re: The Barnsley thread.
Interesting that the Barnsley fans think Ms Welch is the worst ref they've ever seen, even mentioning her as worse than Kettle!

Re: The Barnsley thread.
We got a point performing under par against the in form team I call that a great result need a win against the Shrimps, go for it at Derby anything barring a defeat would be excellent going into the Borehamwood tie were we too win could really kick start our battle to stay in league 1.
