The run in..........
2/3rds of the way through the season and we are now - almost - at the run in.....
15 games - Cup Finals - to go...... What are the thoughts of how it will pan out and where we finish??? Almost completed my game by game predictions and will post up shortly :) :) |
Re: The run in..........
im convinced we will stay in div1.

Re: The run in..........
I’m not so sure.
Would like to see a confident display at home against the bottom side to convince me, instead of the defensive - minded battling goalless draws of late. At the very least I would like a second forward on the pitch towards the end if we are still goalless. |
Re: The run in..........
For the last 15 games my thoughts are 20 points which will give us 51 points, as we averaged 1 point a game for the first 31 games we have to pick it up. Will 51 points keep us up? We should also improve our goal difference as that could be a factor. Fingers crossed we start it off tomorrow with 3 points.

Re: The run in..........
Using what I have seen with my own eyes, plus some of what I have seen on the television, my predictions below.
It was after the fact only, that I realised we had a point a game and that my predictions bore the same results...... I hope I am wrong. Is 46 points enough???? I hope we get Notts., Lowe, Ryan and Doug back A.S.A.P. and Mitch has a blinding last 15 games :) TODAY IS MASSIVE FGR - home - 3 Ipswich - away - 0 Charlton - away - 1 Pompey - home - 1 MKD - home - 3 Plymouth - home - 1 Exeter - away - 0 =9 Vale - home - 1 Shef. Wed - away - 0 F/wood - home - 3 Posh - home - 1 Pompey - away - 0 Bolton - away - 0 C/bridge - home - 1 =6(9+6=15) Oxford - away - 0 :) :) |
Re: The run in..........
Agree that today is massive. Anything less than three points will make it very difficult to reach a point a game for the season.
Last year is the only season when a club has survived on less than 46. That was in part due to the high number of draws around the division. In 2011/12 the fifth from bottom club had 50, but theoretically you could have survived that year on 44. Otherwise not. Usually you will need 48-49, sometimes a few more. I don’t think 46 will do it this year, but the 51 Bryan believes in probably will (just). |

Had a great chat with Loweiy today - or, Mr. Accrington Stanley - and he had us to lose today.... understood fully his 'voodoo gods' reasoning, but for once they got it wrong ;) He did though, have us down for 2 away wins this week...... hope he is correct :) Great result, considering the opposition and the man in charge - or not!!!! Poor game, from 2 poor teams, but I will take another 14 of those :) :) :) :) |

Re: The run in..........
Mo Sangare has been called up for international duty with Liberia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches against South Africa…..
South Africa v Liberia - Friday 24th March (4pm). Liberia v South Africa - Tuesday 28th March (5pm). Congratulations to Mo. :jimbo:Well done!:alright: However, he will be another player made unavailable for selection for the Stanley. He will probably be away when we play Plymouth at home on Tuesday 21st March and Exeter away on Saturday 25th March. Good luck to Mo but let’s hope he returns uninjured! Our squad is depleted enough as it is now! |
Re: The run in..........
we need some luck, and some of our injured players returning, I think the must win home games are MKdons & cambridge best chances of the away fixtures are oxford & charlton, but being honest the bottom line is were in trouble

that only leaves charlton away won two of last 7 --- M/Kdons home won 1 of the last 7 games --- port vale H won 3 of the last 7 --- fleetwood H won 3 of the last 7 --- cambridge H won 1 of the last 7 --- oxford away won 0 of the last 7 OK we sit on 34 points where are our points coming from chalton away 1 --M/Kdons home 3 --port/vale home 1 --fleetwood home 1 --cambridge home 3 thats 8 points only puts us on 42 even 3 points away to oxford only gives us 45 points hope the results are different to my expectations but I still think we are in trouble |

However, the absence of a ‘natural’ poacher or, in the absence of Hamilton, someone with a rocket shot continues to cost Stanley. Even in the warm up, from just a few yards, it’s disappointing how many shots aren’t even on target. |

too many decent players allowed to leave.
too many mediocre players signed too many players passed their 'best before' date too many players who became long-term injury liabilities. too many missed chances by management to consider making any changes too many if's, but's & maybe's to excuse a complete failure of ideas |

our manager is unaware what a substitute is, simple as prefers to sit on the wall and do sod all in my view.
|
Re: The run in..........
Looking extremely bleak for us. Cant fault the effort put in last night by the whole team but we never look like a serious threat for a goal. Fingers crossed for better things ahead.

Re: The run in..........
I note that 'The Stanley Rollercoaster' gets very little mention these days ?. Is it because there is no 'ups' to be experienced I wonder ?... ( plenty of ' downs' as posts elsewhere bear witness to !).
Just for once, I'll throw off the gloomy jacket which usually makes me appear to be such a depressing old moaner, and in turn put on a happy face when asking everybody to keep the faith, smile when Referees who shouldn't be !..regularly turn up at The Crown/ Wham !. and prove that like the Stanleyites of old we are behind every kick, every tackle, every header, every substitution made, or fails to be made, during every game in ' the run-in '. 'Hold on !'.. do I hear the cry ?..' Has owd Yonmon finally sunk into his dotage ?'... Not at all lads and lasses , merely waking up to the fact that it's no good, after all the years of being attached to The Crown by some invisible umbilical cord which has and does feed me with immense pleasure and pride, I fail to stand by my team when they need my support more than ever !.. ON STANLEY !...ON, TO GREATER THINGS !!.. |

The results yesterday were not the most favorable....... :(
Bizarre how we play Vale and Shef. Wed. over Easter and so do Oxford! If we can get 4 points and they got nothing, it would be great :) Happy Easter for Stanley I hope :) :) |

The results of the teams around us did not help at all yesterday........
We must start to do what the others are doing and pick up some points against the top teams............ :) |
Re: The run in..........
I've just read on Twitter that Jo Ashton has hand made the club new corner flags for the remainder of the season.......I wonder if she can make us a couple of Top Class Strikers before Saturday.......

Re: The run in..........
Well Coley's rolled the dice for the last time this season.........What do I mean? Well in his interview after the Portsmouth game yesterday he shouldered all the responsibility for this seasons performances.......he took the blame for every goal conceded and every missed goal opportunity.....he accepted that the recruitment had failed to bring in players who were "consistently good enough" and indeed "good enough for this (league 1) level". He signs off all recruitment and so in his own words "must carry the can".
However!...never giving up...he "rolled that dice one last time".....In saying what he said....Taking all responsibility (rightly so) ....he set the players and coaching staff free....It's not their fault they are not good enough....It's his fault!..........AND.....he set them a challenge......A challenge to prove to him and the fans that they CAN BE GOOD ENOUGH!..........The timing of his comments are not by chance and are not by accident......with 9 points to play for............we're in the last chance saloon in League 1. Well the "glove has been thrown down!"...........and by 2pm on the Sunday 7th May will we all be thinking what might have been or will we all be thinking what the Clayton End sing......"Johnny Coleman Football Genius"......Let's do what all football supporters do......"LIVE IN HOPE!" |

Pretty simple now.
We must now win the last two And Hope that two of Oxford (v Forest Green!) Morecambe and Mk Dons drop points against teams with nothing to play for. Miracle required but they do happen! |
Re: The run in..........
If we achieve the Great Escape it will be a miracle akin to Dunkerque.
All hands on deck! |
