As much as I would like to see a good game of football, the most important thing today is 3 points - regardless of the performance!!

There used to be a time - and I cannot remember when things changed - that a Coleman team competed and always game 100% and always excited, we need to see those days again :)

:)

Thing is, Joe, that there’s an art to winning which is quite separate from playing like Pele’s Brazil. It’s the art of throwing your body in front of the ball to block the shore, of dropping in behind the keeper to head it off the line, and of sticking your head in first up the other end

We need to be the Lions of Accie, and to play not just clever, but smart

Boring boring Arsenal? Leeds 1-0?

Thank you, we’ll take that ….. Fortress Wham :jimbo:

Come on Stanley! Big chance for some younger players and the lads brought in on loan to show what they can do! As said above we just need a winning start which would give the team and supporters a great lift!:theband:
COME ON STANLEY.

What a massive result today.
Huge confidence boost for the new squad with 3 goals scored & non conceded from the red brick wall.
Already in automatic promotion spot (since God knows when?)
League 2 proving to be not such a bad place after all.

The table has a nice look to it. Let's keep it that way! Mitch Clark had a memorable debut. subbed at half time and Port Vale lost 7-0.

Re: The Doing It Unto Newport Match Thread

to me the difference today was the subs were made early enough to contribute which should have happened ages back, which even the stupid people should realise that.the last half hour showed that.

Re: The Doing It Unto Newport Match Thread

Wow! That was the excellent start that we needed! A 3-0 victory on the opening day!
Well done The STANLEY!:jimbo:
The four new lads all did really well and playing this formation the team looked balanced. Stanley’s goals all came at the right times. The reasonably early goal seemed to settle the team and the supporters. Halfway through the second half when a 1-0 lead could have become a very nervous lead, we scored the second goal and the third was the icing on the cake!
I would have loved Josh Andrews to have got onto the scoresheet as he deserved to due to his hard work in leading the front line.
Three really good goals, three points and just over 110 minutes of football made it a great day to be a Stanley fan!
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS:wave8:
ON STANLEY ON
:theband:

Cannot believe that Coley says the scoreline flattered us, yes they had a few chances, but we had more and for the first time since Kayden/Billy, we were clinical :)

:)

VALAIRIAN 05-08-2023 19:59

Re: The Doing It Unto Newport Match Thread

Coley needs to wash his ears out and listen to the Forth Official.. "The Referee has indicated that there will be a minimum of 10 minutes additional time"

We score a goal and go to the corner flag for 2 minutes, this HAS to be added!!!!

I am sick and tired of ordering a pint and getting 3/4's..................

Long may this continue :)

Some good performances yesterday, new lads Hills, Shipley and Andrews in particular :)

Cannot argue with M.O.M., but Andrews ran him close in my opinion :)

Liam seems to have been watch his Captain over the closed season and kept cool :)

Seamus was at the centre of everything yesterday, long may it continue :)

Another thing from Saturday, Josh Woods, Dan Martin and Joe Pritchard were not even in the match day squad :)

Three good players to have available :)

:)

Re: The Doing It Unto Newport Match Thread

Joe Pritchard only very recently started running on soft ground so might be a few weeks yet before we see him match fit.

Agree Watchdog, be almost like a new signing when he returns :)

Just hope he can complete the season, once he gets back playing :)
