Would settle for a point tonight at Wimbledon. No team news yet. Hoping for no new injuries and maybe Seamus back for 45 minutes.

Re: wimbledon thread

Well, at least our management remain somewhat consistent with team selection as Nolan has been relegated to the Subs bench..

VALAIRIAN 24-10-2023 18:10

Re: wimbledon thread

Not an issue with that Watchdog, Jack seemed a bit 'off' on Saturday and to be honest, Tommy was brilliant in the second half :)

:)

Great goal Leigh, on the turn in off the crossbar........keeper no chance

Re: wimbledon thread

We're quicker to every ball at the moment...

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 19:00

Re: wimbledon thread

Wimbledon just relying on long balls up to the front two..

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 19:10

Re: wimbledon thread

Long delay.....Brad Hills injured...face injury

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 19:14

Re: wimbledon thread

Bad tackle Pell on Martin ....yellow card for Pell. Now yellow card for Jay RICH.......becoming a bad tempered game....

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 19:38

Re: wimbledon thread

6 added.....Pritchard down injured, blocking a shot on goal

VALAIRIAN 24-10-2023 19:45

Re: wimbledon thread

That first half is the best I have seen us play in years :)

Superb pressing, great passing, energy and so calm in possession :)

Same again please :)

:)

Re: wimbledon thread

A few from Stanley hobbled off at half time..........we'll see who comes out for the second half.

Re: wimbledon thread

Both our centre backs, Hills and Bagalou have yellows tonight meaning they will miss Saturday due to totting-up of cards. 1-3 Stanley. Half an hour to go.

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 20:33

Re: wimbledon thread

2-3 Wimbledon much better

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 20:38

Re: wimbledon thread

First senior goal for Hills, header from a free kick.......made up for him. 2-4 Stanley 8 to go

They will be a massive miss :(

Question, has J.R.B. had 5 yellows, plus a red already????

Not good really.....

Good win. Their first goal was embarrassingly soft, you can’t give tha ball away like that, but otherwise just positives. Tommy Leigh’s goal a cracker of course.

But could anybody who knows the football laws better than I do explain why Shaun Whalley’s cheeky free-kick on 4 minutes did not count? And how it turned into a Wombles free-kick? Commentators were puzzled too as I understood it.

CLUMSY is the word......that's what my Nan would have called him.

Re: wimbledon thread

We played them off the park first half........second half they got back into it, but we survived their Aerial bombardment and continued with our goal threat. Best performance this season, but Wimbledon look like they can only play one way......and that's route 1 football.

Crown Grounder 24-10-2023 21:08

Re: wimbledon thread

Well done Stanley, and thank you for the win........24 points needed for safety...

I am going to say in-direct free kick was given and he took a direct one???

Just off the top of my head.

Brilliant result, our lads did us proud tonight - put all the crap that happened at the weekend behind them & concentrated on the job in hand which us what us as fans should do, no taking sides but getting 110% behind the lads - we can't affect the other stuff

You're right of course. I thought it was a direct one. But surely Shaun should know the rules better than I do?

Re: wimbledon thread

The only difference between an indirect free kick and a direct one is that you can't score from an indirect kick, haven't seen Shauns kick so can't think of any other reason.
