Colchester come calling thread.

Cashy should've kicked this one off, BUT as my record is 'not bad ' this season, AND he'll be at the game, its up to me to take on the challenge. C'MON YOU REDS

Can't Score for toffee first half !! Had some great chances but no end product so far. Second half hopefully will put a couple in the onion bag 🙂 coyrs

...and some corners...we used to regularly have Stanley games that produced 12+ corners between teams...that seems to have become fewer and farther.. (I like chucking them in 'Bet Builders' )

Stupid Stanley..not happy...will try very hard to get 2 hours sleep in before the All Blacks either bring back my happiness, OR make me and 5,000,000 really ****ed off. .Truth is, I would've taken 3 points today and sacrificed the pleasure of a Rugby world cup win..probably get nowt.

I think you’re the better side, so I’m hoping someone tramples de Klerk into the mud and the All Blacks win

One of the most frustrating afternoon’s at The Wham for some time.
The positives were that both Gubbins and Pickles were excellent and the absence of Hills and JRB was not significant, and Dan Martin more than deserved his MotM award.
But Colchester’s keeper probably deserved that award, and he was supported by a stalwart defensive performance from Colchester.
The negatives from Stanley were some poor touches and some bl**dy awful shooting in the first half.
Fortunately other results didn’t punish the league standing too much.

For my two penn'orth, today reminded me of playing Stevenage - Colchester put 10 men behind the ball for 90 minutes & capitalised on one mistake by us to break & score their goal.
A very frustrating afternoon for us & I'm still wondering how on earth at least one of our chances didn't go in

Spot on AccyMad :)

Thought we passed it around superbly :)

Re: Colchester come calling thread.

On a separate note, I have to say that the nonsense at the end with their keeper and some of the supporters behind the goals - Clayton End - was getting out of hand!!

It is becoming worse game on game and was too much yesterday :(

This then led to both teams getting involved, which could lead to a fine......

:)

Wondered what was happening at the end & why there were still Colchester players milling about - not a good reflection on our club

Mind you, you were the only player to get more than one point (you scored 4)

I think 13 people scored one point for Colchester’s goal …. No one thought we’d draw a blank :(

Cashy, there were very well organised and defended well.

They had a game plan and carried it out perfectly.

Newport and Sutton to name but two were far worse....

So the baaa's came with a game plan - and it worked!
The devious beggars! Bet they laughed all the way home.
Stand by for other visitors adopting exactly the same methods.
Our management should have twigged the situation by half time & come up with an effective counter measure instead of just hoping Plan 'A' would produce goals.

apart from injuries when has our management EVER brought anyone on at halftime?

Last Tuesday at Wimbledon Coley brought on Nolan for Leigh at half time. Was it for an injury?

It was reported after that match that Tommy Leigh had turned his ankle, or something similar.
Tbh, I suspect Tommy wasn’t fully fit on Saturday as his ‘touch’ was way off his usual standard.

I agree Exile. It's Coley's biggest failing. Playing players who aren't fully fit instead of a player who is fit but a second choice in that position.

Re: Colchester come calling thread.

Notwithstanding individual players qualities, our managers inability to change tactics when things go wrong played a large part in our relegation last season IMHO.
Some will say our managers past record speaks for itself, which is quite true.
Unfortunately, the problem with following the same game plan every week is that our opponents know it all too well.
