Re: Versus Lincoln City
Very young and in-experienced line up, hope they can rise to the occasion :)

Re: Versus Lincoln City
Thought we did quite well first half. Josh Woods missed a really good opportunity to score but overall a good first half performance

Re: Versus Lincoln City
Great strike from Longelo for the goal and a great all round performance. Well done Stanley

Re: Versus Lincoln City
Well played lads -.now to build the barricades for the Trotters visit

Re: Versus Lincoln City
It was worth waiting for 93 minutes to see that goal. Well played lads you did us proud.

Re: Versus Lincoln City
An excellent and fully deserved victory tonight v Lincoln. It was well worth the wait for Longelo’s Wonder Goal in the 93rd minute! I thought our young players were super tonight. Dan Martin was Man of the Match for me. Connor O’Brien and Alex Henderson were excellent too. Defenders Shipley, Hills and Gubbins looked like experienced players tonight and played some lovely football out from the back supported by Joe Walsh who I like the look of too! IMHO we should have put the game away earlier but Jensen made some excellent saves. He got a good applause at the end of the match. Ethan Hamilton was a bit of a disappointment and didn’t look like the real action man that he was for us! The goal by Ross Longelo truly was a worthy match winner. He cut in from the right and connected beautifully to curl the ball right into the top left corner of the net! Jensen got close but it was just an unstoppable “Worldie”. Well done to the Stanley tonight. Looking forward to stuffing Bolton now! :jimbo::thepint:

Re: Versus Lincoln City
Cracking game tonight. Excellently summarised by choirboy. Two well-matched teams played in a good spirit (nice to see Jensen get applauded by the Clayton End). Dan Martin and Connor O’Brien did particularly well, but all the players put in good performance. Can’t wait to watch the goal again on the highlights.

Re: Versus Lincoln City
Just watched the highlights, and Rosaire’s goal was an absolute cracker. Can’t imagine how it could not be goal of the season…unless he does the same thing against Bolton.;)

Re: Versus Lincoln City
A deserved win, and quite few positives. Great to see that Pritchard is on his way back, and the young ones did really well.
It could have been so different, though. On the hour we played the ball back from their half into our own penalty area for no good reason, got stuck there for two minutes, and finally conceded, although it was eventually ruled out for offside. That sequence was like watching a horror show. Joe Walsh looked a bit out of synch on his debut, but was superb this time. Brilliant save in the second half. Longelo was also a different self on this wing, even before the goal. I like Josh Woods, but not as a lone striker. He was too isolated for long stretches for my liking. Great strike by Nolan. Was he really off-side? |
Re: Versus Lincoln City
I’m not convinced that either of the disallowed goals were offside.
A problem with linesmen/women these days is that they seem to have been reduced to cheap versions of VAR. They daren’t flag for throw-ins until refs make up their minds, they never flag for fouls even those committed right next to them, so their only purpose seems to be flagging for offside. Perhaps that encourages a few to put up their flag just to let us know they are there. |
