vs Donny
Don't think my form should let me start this thread, but someone had to. Had a BAD omen on this game yesterday as my old mate is a very useful horse trainer here in NZ and he had one going round yesterday , with good form, named 'Donnybrook'...The weight of my $5 proved too much and the stupid thing is still going round. C'MON STANLEY

Re: vs Donny
Ridiculous conditions, rain and wind. Two front players taken off injured. Scoring was always going to be difficult. Our only goal chalked off after a brilliant through ball to Andrews from the ref. Not the most impressive debut for our emergency goalie. Almost beaten by the bounce from the opponent goalie.
Battling performance that should have earned us at least a point and a half. |
Re: vs Donny
Did enough in the first half to win the game.
The Referee blew well before Josh put the ball in the net - good finish though :) Hope the two lads are not out for long - Josh especially...... :) The man in the middle.....................!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: vs Donny
Battling performances from both teams in atrocious weather conditions. Result could have gone either way with Donny hitting the bar and us with the disallowed goal albeit the referee sounded the whistle well before the ball entered the net. In general, i thought the referee did OK in making allowances for the conditions. All in all a fair all round performance and result, onwards and upwards.

Re: vs Donny
Compared with many, the ref wasn’t a problem and, along with the ground staff, should be thanked at least for allowing the game to start and continue.
Atrocious conditions never likely to produce flowing football but things got very edgy in the last 15 minutes as both sides went looking for a winner. Hope the injuries are not serious but still not sure why so many Stanley players seem to pick up injuries compared with their opponents. |
