January Window
Now that it is open, who/what do we want/need to see coming through it for us and the same the other way?!?!?
A player you would love to see come? Is there anybody you would love to see go out?? Who can we NOT afford to lose???? :) |
Re: January Window
Hopefully Tommy Lee will still be with us after the window closes.
|
Re: January Window
Hope the whole squad is still with us come February and, after today’s display, I hope we secure Walsh for the rest of the season.

Re: January Window
Cannot see the last bit, though he won us the game today ;) :)

Re: January Window
My biggest fear is that we lose some of the loan players....
Shipley, Hills to name but two have been great and could be called back - Ripley style - and go out to another c£ub..... Let us see.... :) |
Re: January Window
I would like to see a striker that Coleman has some faith in. Josh Woods is doing OK, but is not really suited to the lone striker role. Andrews expected back any time soon?
Think we will lose Hills and Walsh, so they need to be replaced somehow. Woods and Martin is doing really well in midfield, have grown into their roles. Not sure we will be any better in that department when Seamus and Coyle are back. So my New Year wishes are: a striker, and replacements for those departing. |
Re: January Window
I totally agree with what you say about Ben Woods and Dan Martin, Greger, and hope we can keep all the loan players. I also agree that Josh Woods is not suited to the “lone striker” role. Neither was Tommy Leigh last season.
But, I don’t believe Josh Woods is playing as a “lone striker”, certainly not the way Lowe, or Andrews try to play it, and I think the team are playing much better as a consequence. Since the Crewe game I’ve really enjoyed watching Stanley. They are faster, and offer a more varied attacking options. This is, imho, down to the young players like Messrs Woods, Martin, O’Brien, and Henderson. Not having a “cart horse” striker has required a different approach and one that is not only better to watch but, thus far, more successful The return on the 5 games since Crewe, with Josh Woods, has been DWLDW with 8 pts from 15. The previous 5 league games produced LWLLD with 4 pts from 15. Realistically, Stanley cannot “out bid” any other team for a proven striker but, as the old saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. |

Re: January Window
It's the Stanley way, and the only way we survive. Heaven knows how we'd survive with a different manager (take note "he who must be obeyed!" better known as Sir Andy of the Holt"). We lose a promissing striker whose "supposidly" injured as he's recalled by his parent club... because he's suddenly fit enough to be sold to a club with American owners who can pay a big fee!. Just business as usual....Coley develops and improves a player....who plays well and is in the League 2 shop window in half a season......which Brum couldn't do.......Que Sera sera.....Up the Stanley and thank you Mr Coleman....COME ON YOU REDS....Back for te home game against Grimsby....flights willing and on time....see you all there....

Andrews not in the Gillingham match day squad on saturday at home to Walsall, so maybe still injured?
