Morning Gregor-Off tomorrow on a 3 week South Island roadie. Won't have great internet coverage in many places I would imagine.

Great start to the New Year.

Notice that Harvey Rodgers was an unused substitute in Grimsby's 1-6 home defeat to Walsall.

Re: vs Salford

An excellent three points in a super three goal victory over Salford to get Stanley off to a wonderful start to 2024!
Stanley played superbly throughout the first half with all ten outfield players vying for a MOTM nomination!!!!!!!!!! Solid defending, dominant midfield play and electric triangular moves up front with all of the ten also being absolute nuisances too! Keeper Joe Walsh barely touched the ball in the first half but he would earn his MOTM nomination later! Stanley deserved their three goal lead and IMHO were playing the type of entertaining and vibrant football that Coley, Jimmy and John are looking for. The second half inevitably could not match the first half and Salford put a lot more pressure on the Stanley midfield and defence. Joe Walsh earned his MOTM nomination with four super saves. However, I have come to expect this from him because I rate him very highly. I believe that the referee added to the pressure by allowing the big lad Smith and central defender Tilt to use the Stanley players as ‘step ladders’ and ‘climbing frames’ from corners and free kicks. How the referee couldn’t see the Salford players doing this is confusing! But with Joe Walsh our star player in the second half Stanley played the game out for a thoroughly well deserved victory!
Good to see Sean Mac back in action and also to see Seamus Coneely and Seb Quirk doing a lot of running during the pre match warm up!
Great start to 2024……….now let’s keep the momentum going!

Re: vs Salford

The ref certainly let them get away with a lot in first half (my cynical side asks if this was because one of the 'Class of 92' was present ) but our boys had the game sewn up in first 45 despite the ref's best efforts
