Re: stanley v morecambe thread
If you don’t want to wait for the PL thread to start tonight carry on guessing on this thread and I’ll not bother doing the game 40 thread at all
Just let me know…..not a problem And by the way, if I do carry on and finish the season I won’t count guesses on any thread that I haven’t started |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Please post up D3N, it will be one of the only good things that happen over the Bank Holiday, as the weather does not loo great ;)

Re: stanley v morecambe thread

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Morecambe fans bleating on line about having to fill the seated area on offer to them before they are allowed to buy standing tickets on the coppice end. May affect attendances?.....either in a good way......they take up all the seats on offer.....then buy standing tickets.....or in a bad way.........they get the hump and stop buying seated tickets as they want standing tickets......and watch on iFollow?

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
I'm hoping Vitek's back available tomorrow against Morecambe after International duty. Anybody know if he's come through his time away unscathed?

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Would be hard to accept a defeat today after our track record against them..
|
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Very quiet game. Our wingers are particularly quiet, Bickerstaff keeps running and wins absolutely nothing in the air or on the ground. We have been poor but so have they.
Good to have Radek back. |

Is Bickerstaff poor, or just not getting the service ( I suspect the latter)?
|

Both!

Yonmon,
Strikers plural? Bickerstaff maybe, but who is the other? |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Its unanimous then...

Yeaaaa....

Good Friday my arse. :(

However, there are other 'strikers' in the squad who we both know to be a trifle suspect when it comes to scoring goals.. Two of which, along with others have just made my afternoon a bit of a misery sad to say !..(or am I, in my dotage, getting more hard to please as the season plods on it''s not so merry way ?.). |
Coleman out
9 minutes of added time was brilliant :)

We could have won it with Shaun and Alex missing good chances, plus The Clayton End was bounce, bounce, bouncing!!!! :) |
Re: Coleman out
Also, MASSIVE shout out to Jase and the gang for organising the pre-match display and making a great noise :)

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Going by his history, he must be worth a few goals at least...the fact he's not getting them would have to be a reflection on the way the other players are performing...tho his date of birth suggests he might be a disaster...

This however is not a desirable element one would wish to see in one of the main strikers in a struggling team much indeed of points ... perhaps it's time for a Sports Psychologist to revitalise and remotivate ourJacob to unleash his hidden powers ?... any offers ?. ( And while he's at it,find a way to convince the entire team that performing for 90 minutes like they managed to do for the last 10 today must bring its rewards !). ON STANLEY !..ON TO GREATER THINGS ! |

Jack Nolan, as much as I enjoy watching him when we occasionally play well, has no judgment at all, cross or shoot, and very rarely looks for the front man unless it is with a 40 yards cross from the Centre circle. And Tommy Leigh is after all a very poor passer. Better strikers than Bickerstaff would struggle to do anything with that kind of service. |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
So we are all agreed then ......young Jake was a very poor loan signing in the January window. He doesn't suit our style of play, can't hold up or win the ball, can't get on the end of crosses, never gets in the box, is slow, can't head the ball...........
Young Shipley, a good loan signing and left wing back ....came on and showed him how it can be done for the last 20 minutes........ |

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
We had the right man - for our system/style of play - in Andrews, but he went back and as is the norm for bargain basement Stanley, we have got the best we could find..... had our luck been in, we would have comeback from shopping with Paul Mullin ;)

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
First game for a while, got the train to Acci so I could have a few beers and be entertained with a rip-roaring local derby.
How wrong was I !!! Both teams thought they were Man City, tippy tapping,no passion, desire, will to win. Morecambe we’re the better team, just!!!, Acci use to have half a dozen leaders in the team, couldn’t name you one yesterday. I thought a lot of players were out of contract in summer,so you would assume they would be busting a gut on the pitch?? Sorry I didn’t catch up with you Yonmon, but the hens harrier beer made me stay In Coleys bar for the second half, along with hundreds of others!!!! KTF |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Tommy is a shadow of the player he used to be and playing alongside Dan Martin is not his position - Ben Woods please :)
Apart from his glaring miss, Henderson should be starting - in my opinion :) If we are using Kelvin's experience, then play Shipley and bench Connor :) :) |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Bench Connor for Kelvin???
Connor is one the best players of the season. Boots opticians will be open today if it helps, Val. |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
I get that 100%, but he is out of position and Shipley is fantastic :)
Read it again Exile ;) :) :) |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
I use Vision Express by the way :D

Re: stanley v morecambe thread

Shipley is left footed and came on to play left back, where he is best. O’Brien, who is right footed, then moved across the field to right back, where he is best. The unasked question is why was Mellor, given his experience, not started at left back? Change opticians! |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
That is an option Exile, but I would play Shipley at left back whenever possible :)
To be honest, with the defenders we have, we could go to a five.... anyway, on to Mansfield :) |

Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Kelvin was released by Crewe due to a persistent injury and was due surgery in the close season of 2023. Theres loads of comments on the Crewe message board confirming same... we should never have signed him.
|
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Tommy hasn't been the same player since his 'want away' at the last January window and Ben is a far better replacement.
|
Re: stanley v morecambe thread

I too would have Shipley at left back as the default. But I would always also have O’Brien at right back over Mellor. Rather than trying to be too clever I should have been clearer that I was suggesting Mellor was not selected as left back yesterday because he is not seen as reliable in that position as O’Brien (even though it is also not O’Brien’s ‘natural’ side of the pitch). |
Re: stanley v morecambe thread
Get it, but I think that we need Kelvin's experience... the rest of the back five have an average age of 12 and have 3 games between them ;)
