Crewe Home Thread

Anyone anything to say about today's game?

Yes...your daylight saving and our daylight saving get me super confused and as a result I ended up waking about 10 minutes from the end of the match....the good news was I didn't start a match thread and we got a point. Stats i saw suggest a dull game-was it?

I was surprised by the fact that Crew only seemed to be on a par with us considering their league position.

You are lucky K.J. in the fact that you watched 10 minutes only......

One of the worst games I have watched, the swirling wind played its part, but Crewe were poor and we were terrible......

Good to see Seamus back on the pitch, though he cannot have long left with us sadly.......

:)

Agree, Pifco, I thought they were two well-matched teams, although Crewe started the second half with more intent and effort and put Stanley on the defensive for twenty minutes or so.
Game of few chances, but Stanley were trying out a few options with Tommy Leigh up front, then trying Seb Quirk at left back and giving Matt Lowe a run out.
Did think Seamus Conneely made a difference when he came on and added a little bite to the midfield and helped Stanley get back in the game.
Heartbroken for Josh Woods that he missed an open goal - he gets himself into the right place, which is more than some strikers seem able to do, but just can’t seem to finish. Admittedly, it was his left foot yesterday but he was clearly distraught at the end. Keep your head up, Josh.

Kiwi, not a totally dull game. Crewe showed more endeavour in the final third and pinned us in for large periods of the game. We played on the break but failed to create good chances. The chances we did have were wasted. Tommy Leigh started as our target man (with no recognised strikers in the squad) and won most of his headers but these weren't picked up by our attacking midfield. Radek had a good game and we mostly defended we'll. A clean sheet was our positive and our point along with losses for Sutton and FGR mean we are mathematically safe. John Doolan now has only one chance for his first home win as manager. Four away games now follow with the final home game of the season against Tranmere on the final day. I'd really like to win that one as our record against them is poor.
